The Single-arm Kettlebell swing is an entirely different beast!
Here are some tips to dial you in to get single-arm kettlebell swing benefits.
1. Use a lighter bell than you are used to with 2 handed swings to keep from overusing your grip, biceps, traps, and SCM.
2. FInd which bell position feels better for you. Neutral, thumb back or 45 degrees.
Note that this will affect many parts of the body.
3. The Hand to hand swing is one of my top athletic and endurance-building movements.
4. Unilateral training builds control, symmetry, and focus. My KB Only Muscle Gain VOL.1 contains an 8-week single bell version as well as the standard program you can find here www.kbmuscle.c...
5. Single bell swings are essential for Kettlebell sport if you want to try them.
Let me know what you think of single-arm swings, and hopefully, I can help you out a bit!

The single arm kettlebell swing is the best kettlebell exercise. If I had to pick one movement for the rest of my life it would be that.
That's cool..I'm partial to the clean
woah. I had never thought about the shifting. I mostly do the hand to hand swing but am thinking about incorporating more two handed swings so that I can push the weight on them a bit more.
These Kettlebell videos you make are so useful!!! And men you are strong 💪🏻
Thank you!
Yes! I love h2h swings. I was taught rotating thumb in also. I made a h2h vid yesterday as a matter of fact.
after a year in of training with bells i recently decided to start single kettlebell swing work as part of my conditioning routine and they sure are challenging. Also I do them when doing bent presses as well.
Nice
thanks
@@kettlebellmusclegain I do a lot of weird swings. And I would like to know the muscles I'm actually hiting. Wide outside back swing + cross body swing with the other arm. Switching from ipsilateral and contralateral. But usually just do neutral. I also do inside plus outside. Basically I take any kettlebell exercise and I make it multifaceted as much as possible. I just don't get what it's not more RUclipsrs doing more unconventional kettlebell exercises and talkin about the anatomy so that is officially not a useless gimmick exercise.
@@kettlebellmusclegain I will also throw a cross and with the other kettlebell go crossbody
@@kettlebellmusclegain also at this point in my life I just prefer to do everything single arm. And any imbalances in my strength. I will just get my money right and go get a gym membership to develop my two-hand power while also being able to increase the load greatly. I have 50 pound and I also have two 35s is working with double 35 s a waste of time considering I could do double 50s if I had a second one? One 35 lb kettlebell has been working weight since last year. Now I have a 50 lb kettlebell but I know I can use a 70 pound eassiy maybe even easier. Then the 50 lb
Love it!! Specially how you mention the facial chain from foot, through hips, to opposite shoulder. Good stuff!! I’m stealing some of it!!
Oh yeah. TaG when you do!
Thanks very much Joe for making this videos - just what I was looking for ! Your confirmation of just how different the single hand swing is really means a lot - I've had to learn this exact lesson the hard way, not respecting that difference enough and getting injured ! From now on I will pay much more attention to details . . .
Yes its very different.
Love it. Thanks for this. Always trying to learn about increasing my swings technique better. This definitely helps. Plus tomorrow is swing day so came at a great time.
Cool good to hear
@@kettlebellmusclegain so if I can do 70 LB one arm. Does that mean I can do 140 lb on two arms. I don't really work with 70 lb but I know I'm capable of doing it easily. I just recently got a 50 lb kettlebell.
Single-arm swings are rough at high weight. But they're a hell of a way to really overload if you're going for strength. I've also, as a sidenote, really been enjoying the double suitcase swings that I started doing after seeing one of your other videos. Double 32s hit my upper back and rear delts like nothing else because all of the scapular retraction.
Yes! Nice to hear.
Shhh.. people are floating. Excellent video dude.
Thanks man.
Excellent content, thank you
Welcome!
Joe, you mention the tight QL issue on the one hand swing. I feel that. Do you think my form may be the issue? What can I do to release the tightness? Stretch? Mobility? I have decent of both... Thanks man for all you give!
sorry i missed this. abs more tense during the back swing? perhaps lie on back and put softer balls under the QQL areas for massage when it gets tight
More proof that if you have a question on kettlebells ask RUclips with Joe Daniels, swing this or KBOMG and you can pretty much guarantee if it's useful Joe's done a video on it.
I agree hahah

Hey bro put wod!!!!! 🙏
Lots of them available at www.thekettlebelllocker.com/training
Should you rotate your upper torso? Thanks
I do a bit.
Drop the weight and volume for a while when you start this and don’t rotate too much, since it’s your upper body rotating and not your hips. I rotated too much, I think, and didn’t drop to a lower weight and I ended up injuring my SI joint.
Keep your chin, sternum, zipp line straight, otherwise you will get injured
Hmmm, why do foot ball players not get injured everytime they rotate?
The shift happens in the hip/femur as well
