I was mentally and emotionally abusing my wife. She left me. But never kept the kids from me. I took counseling and anger management. I told my counselor’s that she lets me see the kids. They told me this is going to be hard but stay away from them for 30 days. So I did. In the 31st I went to see my kids, my daughter ran up to me and held me tight and asked me to come back home. I fell to my knees holding her crying like a baby. The wife and I the next day had a lunch meeting. I asked her to give me one more chance and give me a year. If she doesn’t like the change I’ll agree to whatever she wants in the divorce just don’t keep the kids from me. It’s been 3 years she told me the other day that she didn’t think I would change. But she is proud of me and is proud that I was man enough to seek help. This song helped me change my ways. I never put hands on my wife or kids. But I didn’t want her to end up with someone who would.
My kindergarten teacher wouldn’t let me lie about my bruises 35 years ago. She made sure I got out of it. 2 years after that, I was adopted by the most wonderful woman in the world (also a teacher). They both gave me my life back. My sweet mama passed a year ago tomorrow, but I will always carry on her values and vigilance. Thank you both. Take action when you see it’s needed. Bottom line.
OMG This song just broke me. I am a retired Detective from NYC. I was one of the first Detectives on the scene of a little angel named Nixmary Brown. RIP Nixmary you lie with Jesus now.
I went to a Jason Michael Carroll concert around 2008 and when he sang this song I don't remember ever seeing a dry eye around me, you can actually hear people sobbing to this song, it even made me cry and at that time I was a 46 year old man!
The hardest part of being abused is when noone believes you. I grew up in the 80's and 90's. My mother was our abuser. I was always told "your mom wouldn't do that". You have to put faith in the child that they are really telling you the truth.
I was adult/child protective investigator social worker in alabama fir 25 years. I carry with me the memories of children and adults being abused in the most sick and twisted ways ever. This song makes me cry everytime because it puts me back into those situations and what i saw. Thank you sir fir your reaction! We love you!❤🎉
I'm a social worker now, who didn't have interest in working with kids and I am now, and you definitely see it. Thank you for what you did. I'm 22 and just graduated
@@kccolley4197 Bless you honey! Just remember this, you have to take your rose colored glasses idea of "saving everybody", OFF if your of that mindset. I was 22 when I graduated too and had the save the world mindset. Sadly enough, it just doesn't work that way. I'm 61 now and I saw way too much. Most social workers do. If you just have your BSW, go on as quick as you can, and get your masters. That way, you'll be qualified to work in alot more places. I never got my Masters as life got in my way, but an opening came about in our unit for Adult Protective Services and I jumped on it! I LOVED that! I did child welfare when unit overwhelmed and I always ended up with a CPS case during my week on call which was every 3 weeks. CPS just wasn't my nitch. APS was. I also became a Dementia specialist/trainer for state per Mental Health. And I became an international speaker regarding papers I wrote but I did that all on my own. Guard your heart, get your Masters and try real hard not to take cases home with you. That will run you nuts because you never have down time for yourself emotionally. I couldn't leave my cases on my desk from emotional standpoint. They followed me home where I tried in vain to "fix" them, then return to office with answers. Sometimes it worked, but alot of times, it didn't. Go into your cases being, sweet, kind and compassionate. Your clients will trust you more if your that way versus having the superior persona. Your considered the enemy from time you grace their door. I always opened with this after I introduced myself, " Ms. Smith, I'm here regarding a report we received, (name allegations), and I wanted to come talk to you about it to get your side of it. I want you to know from beginning that I'm not the enemy here. I'm not here to work Against you, but to work With you, as your Partner, to work this out. So knowing that now, may we get started working on this problem TOGETHER?" Many clients are not prepared for an opening like that but their trust and HOPE and you as a Partner versus Enemy, just went way up. Just keep your word and keep them in the loop at all times like a partner would do. And trust me, if your in a small county that might be more rural, word if mouth about you and your way will travel FAST! I had former clients introducing me to family and friends in THE GROCERY STORE as their WORKER! Well, confidentiality just flew out the window with THAT but my clients would say, " If you have a problem, call " Ms Robin", she will help you!" I was glad they trusted me, and it was my honor to be their friend. Sorry this so long but that's many years talking. I wish you well and may God bless you always honey. ❤️🙏
@kccolley4197 please pay attention to your own mental health. Having been in a field of work, for over 20 years, where you see it all know that it can haunt you forever. You are doing important work and I'm not discouraging you from doing it but instead encouraging you to take care of you also. Seek help when you need it and don't keep it bottled in
I subbed to your channel for Tom Macdonald reactions. I had never heard of this song, but I just decided to watch this reaction and OMG. This song is heart breaking. I sat here sobbing watching this. A 43 year old man sat sobbing my heart out to a song. This song is extremely powerful.
Every time I hear this song, I cry. It's just a very powerful song that more people need to see. I think anyway. The first time I heard this song, I was a freshman in high school. Personally, I think Schools should show this video to their students. It just may help someone living through that undeserving hell.
Rick thank you for reacting to this song, Elizabeth, thank you for requesting it. I have tried in the past to request it, but could not bring myself to. As, some of you have heard Rick talk about the horrors in my life of being a Paramedic with PTSD, One run, which could resemble the part of this song, talked about but not seen, is one of the horrors that I have faced that gave me PTSD. 10 years old is far too early to be exposed to the pain and hate that the girl I had to take to the hospital only to pass hours later. Even if you are not 100 percent sure, speak up to someone. Thanks again for the request and the reaction, God Bless you all. Also, I can only speak to the issues I have seen, I know many others have seen this as well as Police, firefighter, EMS and all Medical trades.
I can relate to this song. No one ever asked me about the bruises I had. I grew up in the 50’s and 60’s and nobody thought about those bruises but me. I remember begging God to have someone to just ask me.
I cried again. I've watched this video many many times and not once did I not cry. everytime I watch it, I say I won't cry but always end up crying anyway
Everytime I hear thus song I start to cry , it sure is a tear jerker ..sad to think this happens everyday to kids... and to think this song was based on a true story..breaks my heart even more
This song gets a grown man absolutely bawling every time. Hits me so hard, especially now that I'm a daddy myself. I love my babies so much. Anybody that abuses a child deserves nothing more than a brutal, agonizing death.
I still cant hear this song without cryin. Im so grateful i never had to endure a situation like that. I am so sorry for everyone who ever had to endure it. God Bless All!!!
I struggle everyday with what I could have done differently to protect my daughter and thanks for playing this video and make people aware that domestic violence is real
This is a rough one. Like other commentators I cry every time. The idea that someone could hurt an innocent child angers me and sickens me. I thank you for sharing your reaction to this most important song.
My older brother Lenny and I went through our parents abuses and physically our bodies still have scars. PARENTS, PLEASE LOVE YOUR CHILDREN, THEY ARE GIFTS FROM THE LORD GOD HIMSELF.
Rick thank you for your heart! I have worked my whole life to advocate and fight for children. Now we need to protect the children who are being trafficked for sex here in the United States. Keep your eyes, heart and soul open for when a child needs help.
It is difficult for me to listen to this song I lost my youngest daughter to domestic violence in 2017 and my world changed. Please spread the word to protect our children. She left behind 3 beautiful children.
First time I seen your your channel. My man straight love to you. The same thing happened to me, I worked cps. I also am a 200 plus inked up Harley riding man. This music broke my heart. God blessings to you
So, yes I am an old woman but your reaction made me want cry with you and hug your tears away. Mommas hurt when they see kids hurt if if hurt is necessary sometimes to become aware. Much love to you kiddo.
Just came across one of your videos. Stayed up all night watching all I could find. YOU made me "feel" each one like I have never before, because YOU felt everyone of them and your emotions. Thank you. Will like and for sure subscribe.
Anybody would have to have a heart of stone to not break down crying listening to this song!!😢😢😢😢 This song is heartbreaking and that is what makes it a masterpiece!
I was abused through out my childhood no one did anything Including giving birth before my twelve birthday I've been through a lot in my life but I stay strong I'm thankful to be alive Please end child abuse stand up don't step down Thank you for sharing this Prayers
I only cry when I watch the video, but it was the very first time I cried because of a song. If anyone wants to cry some more concrete angel is a VERY close second! (Martina McBride) both are beautiful and incredibly sad
It's ok to cry when hearing this song. In my opinion you are hartless if you dont show emotion When listening to this song. It's truly ahart breaking sonk. Hope everyone reading this has a wonderfully blessed day.

Hi
OMG This song just broke me. I am a retired Detective from NYC. I was one of the first Detectives on the scene of a little angel named Nixmary Brown. RIP Nixmary you lie with Jesus now.
I just looked up her story. I can't imagine what seeing that would do to a person. That poor baby.
I remember this case. (I’ma New Yorker too.) It was horrific. Poor baby girl.
I can't believe the parents were acquitted of murder and only got manslaughter
I went to a Jason Michael Carroll concert around 2008 and when he sang this song I don't remember ever seeing a dry eye around me, you can actually hear people sobbing to this song, it even made me cry and at that time I was a 46 year old man!

I don't know if Rick is your real name but your dad raised one hell of a man. GOD bless you brother.
I am hoping someone warned you this is a tear jerker! This song brings me to tears every single time I hear it.
This is one then you have Martina mc brides concrete angel
If this song doesn't get to you, you have no heart!
Yes it is and it's based on a true story
I have a song request it's called Don't Tread On Me by Tracy Barfield
This one and the little girl gets me every time.
I've heard this song a million times and it breaks my heart everytime.
This always makes me cry. It is amazingly written song and Jason sings it with such emotion that it really makes an impact.
No matter how often you hear this song it gets to you

Thank you for your service/sacrifice. I can't imagine the horrible things that you have seen. God bless
Sometimes tears comes from the heart not your eyes.
I can’t watch this without crying ever
I can relate to this song. No one ever asked me about the bruises I had. I grew up in the 50’s and 60’s and nobody thought about those bruises but me. I remember begging God to have someone to just ask me.
I'm sorry that happened to you. So glad you made it.
For me, late 60's & 70's. Teachers knew, the doctor saw, family knew. No one said a word. Not. One. Word.
I cried again. I've watched this video many many times and not once did I not cry. everytime I watch it, I say I won't cry but always end up crying anyway
Same. Every time.
Everytime I hear thus song I start to cry , it sure is a tear jerker ..sad to think this happens everyday to kids... and to think this song was based on a true story..breaks my heart even more
These songs rip my heart out, but I think crying helps sometimes.
God bless you.
Concrete Angel is another that will make you feel.
I can only watch one reaction of this every year or so. It hurts my heart so freaking bad it takes weeks to get over.
You are so genuine. And we love you too
This was my first time listening to this & it definitely got me choked up
As a CSA survivor I told my fair share of lies hiding the abuse happening to me from 8-13. I have lived this song to a degree
This song gets a grown man absolutely bawling every time. Hits me so hard, especially now that I'm a daddy myself. I love my babies so much. Anybody that abuses a child deserves nothing more than a brutal, agonizing death.
I agree man
If a man dosent tear up or cry to this song they're heartless. This is a tearjerker forsure.
Absolutely
Heart wrenching
This song always gets me, I for one will never walk away when I see anyone needing assistance.
I've heard that song many times over the years and it STILL gets to me
I'm really glad you reacted to this I'm a new subscriber of your community and I already love your videos❤❤❤

Rick thank you for your heart! I have worked my whole life to advocate and fight for children. Now we need to protect the children who are being trafficked for sex here in the United States. Keep your eyes, heart and soul open for when a child needs help.
