Good video. There exists an algorithm that does something similar, it's called greedy meshing and is used in voxel games(like Minecraft) to merge the faces of voxels together. I think the Greedy meshing algorithm does it somewhat differently, but it ends up with a similar result. (But sadly there are not many good resources that explain greedy meshing, so this video is really welcome) It could also be a good idea to put greedy meshing in the title/discription/ hashtags to give the video visitors.
