One of the best things about Apple Arcade is if you've fully consumed the Kool Aid and have various devices is playing these games on the new MacBook Pro or new iPad Pro 12.9. These games running at 4K, 120Hz, AND in HDR . . . it's just beautiful. Hello Kitty Island Adventure is a game to not sleep on, Sonic Dream looks phenomenal and runs like absolute BUTTER. Gear Club looks awesome as well! I haven't tried it with my sim-racing rig yet, maybe I should give it a go. I wouldn't be surprised if it works.
I don’t really get the surprise at the visuals? The chip in the Apple TV way outclasses the tegra x1 in the switch and all the major engines support it pretty well.
i have an iPhone but I do not have apple arcade. Every once in a while i spot a game that looks like something I would play but turns out the only way to play it is with an Apple Arcade subscription, no option just to buy outright. I don't know if this applies to everything in the Apple Arcade library but certainly the few that I looked at.
Apple Arcade is always something I was interested in trying out at some point. But I kinda have a problem ... I don't have any Apple hardware in my house to play any of the games. It's not an anti Apple initiative but I'm just so familiar with Android and how everything works I've never really needed their products.
You can just buy any old Apple devices on the used market to play most of these Apple Arcade games AS long it can run at least iOS 13 or newer. You wouldn't get the best experience with the oldest device running iOS 13 but I guess that is entry level.
I actually played all of them, some of them are unique indies, and games from AAA dev/publisher that fly under the radar. And there are the + tittle too, freemium games without micro transactions. It’s sporadic and no hit tittle but for those without console and that price, it’s worth, but only for a year. I'm really glad to see a level headed take on Apple Arcade. I see a lot of gamers and Android users hating on it because its Apple. I'm also glad you showed the easiest entry which is the Apple TV. A huge misconeption is that you need an iPhone or iPad, you really don't. The Apple TV is quite affordable in comparison to gaming consoles and if you find a lot of games interesting on Apple Arcade or the App Store in general, I think buying an Apple TV for that purpose is as valid as buying a PS5 for PS exclusives.
I love apple arcade. There's some real gems in there that are just fun to pop on. I put in some real time into Sneaky Sasquatch and I'm able to sample games like Dead Cells. There is one problem though with games 'leaving' the service like shows leaving Netflix. I''m hoping Grindstone isn't going to be one of them.
It looks like a great service if you're really into mobile/light gaming and want something with more quality, but I'd never see myself sitting down to play it say at home or on my macbook over a console/PC. Their hardware has the power though, would love to see them license more mainstream games and give the dumpster fire that is mobile gaming a much-needed kick up the rear.
Apple Arcade is fantastic in its own right but especially if you take it for what it is and not what it isn’t which is what a lot of people do. Yes they’re short games. Yes they’re small games , Mostly there are some exceptions but mostly it’s relatively simple experiences but that doesn’t make them bad. A lot of them are just super fun.
Would love to try Apple Arcade. Too bad i don't have an Apple device. Netflix Gaming ain't half bad though. Better version of GTA Trilogy than consoles and PC.
Those 14.8 billion though, how much of it is actually microtransaction money, do we know? They take cuts from Fortnite, Candy Crush, all the big titles because they're in their store. Apple Arcade itself isn't a 14.8 billion business.
I’ve had Apple Arcade since launch, and it’s been great overall. Don’t be fooled by Fantasian though, it seems simple at first but it’s not. Some of the boss fights are the toughest fights I’ve had in a turn based RPG.
"I'd like to give a quick shootout to Josie Woah for helping me out with the multi-player after I barked orders to her during the after show. " - not John
I'm an Apple user, but have never looked into the Apple Arcade. I would suggest that people pick the Mac Studio over the Mac mini. I've owned both and felt the Mac mini lacking for just general use. Never tried games on it, but just go with the Studio, if either. Other than Baldur's Gate 3, I've been mostly just sticking to console gaming. Used to play Steam games, but the lack of devs continuing to support the games when I get OS or hardware updates makes gaming on a computer just not that enjoyable. I know a good amount of PC users who feel the same way about this, they rather go console where they know the game will function, rather than PC with a lot of optimization issues.
Feels crazy that they do so much better than Nintendo monetarily. But I believe it. Even as a Nintendo fanatic I love playing and streaming games on my shiny large iPhone with a controller attached (feels like a switch almost). But it gives me a little fear for Nintendo. My heart is always with them and I’ll never play a game on my iPhone anywhere close to a magical Nintendo first party game (at least not yet)
One thing about Apple Arcade like other services is that you can lose access to certain games if they're off the service and even if you have them downloaded they won't work for you anymore. RIP Punch Planet and Spidersaurus.
I kinda regret that apple isn't trying to make the apple tv an actual console. Something comparable to the switch, for 200 euros/dollars. I'm pretty sure games such as Limbo, Shovel knight, celeste would run like a charm on it. Appart from Fantasian, they feel way to much like mobile games and dont make me wanna spend 6 box a month for it.
I had Apple Arcade for free for 3 months when I bought my phone. I used it for like a week and forgot about it. Forgot to cancel and didn’t realize until after being charged twice.
Yeah this is the standard thing for subscriptions everywhere! They know this: Of all these people that wanna use the trial, a certain percentage will forget to cancel it so they have to pay. That's "so easy money" for the companies. This is not just Apple. But Apple knows how this works based on all other subscriptions that got a free trial or a very very cheap first days/weeks/months. I got 6 months free on Netflix when I bought my TV some years ago. I never watched so much and then I started tl pay the normal monthly fee. I watched Netflix maybe a few times a year and it was not worh those 120-150 dollar per year. I watch movies and TV shows on normal classic old school TV and also all these physical Blurays and DVDs. So WHY are these companies putting so much energy and money on these subscription services? And why these low monthly fees? They want us to not own anything. And where does this come from? Just google "you should own NOTHING but be happy anyways"... I love these physical copies so much!! I also love these steelbook editions but those cost more. It's nice art. And no subscription ⭐️
The biggest problem with the servers is even though these games don’t have micro transactions Most of the games in the service are still built with them in mind so it still has that micro transaction structure some of the games are just not playable without them.
maybe apple saw that "we need to do what valve is doing". tried apple arcade with apple tv couple years ago. it was kinda fun, but needs a controller and I didn't have a suitable one then. also, probably not a service I wanna pay of constantly, but still unique and cool. has that nice indie vibe.
also, apple tv is the hardware that other companies like nintendo should also have. as apple, it's not even on expensive side. one thing that was a struggle though was putting in all the passwords and stuff with only remote. it's really painful. dunno what's the alternative though.
Fantasian is going to be coming to PC on steam in the near future. Steamdb entry was found a few months back. I'll wait for that instead of giving apple more money.

try out Ghost Trick! I thought I remember Apple adding that at some point...
Apple Arcade is great for some casual gaming on the go. Love it on iPhone with the Backbone controller.
I'm surprised he didn't play Shovel Knight Dig
Air twister has been on osn and xbox for over a month for your info spawnwave
Would love to try Apple Arcade. Too bad i don't have an Apple device. Netflix Gaming ain't half bad though. Better version of GTA Trilogy than consoles and PC.
Those 14.8 billion though, how much of it is actually microtransaction money, do we know? They take cuts from Fortnite, Candy Crush, all the big titles because they're in their store. Apple Arcade itself isn't a 14.8 billion business.
Now try Netflix Ports in 2023 like Sonic Dash Prime, Sonic Mania, TMNT Shredder's Revenge, GTA Trilogy Definitive Edition
Monster Hunter stories is also on Arcade as well.
17:06 a Metal Gear Solid game ?! but using the James Bond IP ?!
I’d like to see a version of the Apple TV with macOS. Apple could just call it the Mac micro.
The Mac Mini is basically that though. It’s just a bit bigger than the Apple TV
Apple Arcade is a real gem, I feel like it gets overlooked.
I’ve had Apple Arcade since launch, and it’s been great overall. Don’t be fooled by Fantasian though, it seems simple at first but it’s not. Some of the boss fights are the toughest fights I’ve had in a turn based RPG.
The ps 5 Controller is actually personable in Apple Store.
I hope the TMNT game eventually gets released on other platforms.
I'm more concerned about the gameplay and plot.
"I'd like to give a quick shootout to Josie Woah for helping me out with the multi-player after I barked orders to her during the after show. " - not John
Can you give your thoughts on the completionist
The World of Demons game looks cool
I only got Apple Arcade for Hello Kitty Island Adventure lol
What I love the most about Apple Arcade, I play the games on my Mac in Max settings and they run great ❤
I heard somewhere that Fantasian is coming to other platforms.
They need to bring GTA V to AA
Almost positive you can save your data cross platform so you can play on your Apple TV will also play on your Mac, iPhone and iPad
Finally, i thought u forgot about this.
That turtles game looks really gd very surprised
Oh hey, I thought that Castlevania game died in early access, awesome. It was actually pretty fun.
Great video jon
One thing about Apple Arcade like other services is that you can lose access to certain games if they're off the service and even if you have them downloaded they won't work for you anymore. RIP Punch Planet and Spidersaurus.
I don't know about Punch Planet but Spidersaurs is also available on Switch, Playstation and Xbox.
@@Maryokutaizero Punch Planet is on Steam now and I just bought Spidersaurus on Switch but losing them on iOS sucked.
They gotcha
Personal issue
Yeah this is the standard thing for subscriptions everywhere! They know this:
Of all these people that wanna use the trial, a certain percentage will forget to cancel it so they have to pay.
Ah yes fan favorite sonic characters, such as “This One” and “This One” 😂😂😂
Bro Apple Arcade and a backbone controller for your phone = Good Times
Only mobile game i played to death was Pokémon Go but i havent touched that in 3 or 4 years. But i just don't play games on mobile just my music
I am playing conker atm on rare replay on my xbox series s
maybe apple saw that "we need to do what valve is doing". tried apple arcade with apple tv couple years ago. it was kinda fun, but needs a controller and I didn't have a suitable one then. also, probably not a service I wanna pay of constantly, but still unique and cool. has that nice indie vibe.
also, apple tv is the hardware that other companies like nintendo should also have. as apple, it's not even on expensive side. one thing that was a struggle though was putting in all the passwords and stuff with only remote. it's really painful. dunno what's the alternative though.
Fantasian is going to be coming to PC on steam in the near future. Steamdb entry was found a few months back. I'll wait for that instead of giving apple more money.
How is this service still alive?
Did you adjust the graphics options in games that struggled on the Apple TV?
John has no respect for Rouge the Bat and Cream the Rabbit.
