I didn't end up testing it, sorry. I have since removed them for the winter season, as they don't fit my winter rims. I will be trying more tape in the spring. I'll pin this comment though and maybe someone else has tried more tape.
Your video was super helpful! Really helps showcase the wheels better. Would love to see the EVbase Sport wheel covers as well as a comparison. Thank you!
I haven't tried adding more tape yet. The sound doesn't bother me too much. I will be switching to my winter wheels in a few weeks and most likely don't use the covers in the snow. I'll add more tape over the winter or in the spring.
Hi! Are both covers bigger than the rim or just the uberturbine? I can't really tell in the video but does the actual rim shows behind the covers between the "spokes" or doesn't the rim show at all?
@JohnLCharette I'm leaning towards the überturbines for the moment. I told myself not to by anything more to my model 3 but I've never been a fan of neither the photon wheels or photon covers😆 But it's whay cheaper then a set of aliminium wheels and hopefully it won't look to bad with aftermarket covers🙈
It sure is cheaper. I have a set of Turbines, if you're interested. Not sure where you're located, but if it's anywhere near the Greater Toronto Area, I'd be happy to hook you up.
I recently got the uberturbines and the amount of noise that is coming off the wheel is ridiculous. Seems like the tires are rubbing against the wheel. I contacted the company and they said to add more tape. Not sure if that will help the situation.
Yeah, I noticed ours make a bit of noise at low speeds as well. The Uberturbines came pre-installed with tape. I might have some extra tape that I could try. Good call.
From an aerodynamic perspective is the function of the turbine wheel supposed to remove the air from wheel or blow the air into the wheel...the current setup appears to remove the air from inside the wheel and blow it outside.
Great question! I have no clue. Aerodynamics are outside of my wheel house. I just know they look great. Unless you are racing your Tesla, I wouldn't think you have to worry about cooling the calipers all that much, but I could be wrong.
@@JohnLCharette it's cheaper for them to have 1 mold and press 4 covers than have 2 separate molds and press 2 sets of covers, your video shows you have 4 of the same type the turbine should be cutting into the wind, your right side isn't doing that as it's reversed
So, I checked this weekend and you're absolutely right. I swapped my two front covers and now they should be performing as you explained. I've since removed. "Winter is coming." I never even considered the air cooling performance. Thanks for the heads up! I'll definitely keep that in mind when I re-install them next summer.
Hey there, just wondering, did more tape reduce the noise?

Thanks! Yeah, I was surprised at how much I like them, especially as they make my wheels look bigger. I’ll check out the sport wheel covers.
Did you add more tape to eliminate the noise? Please tell more about this issue. Thanks

Both are larger than the rim. No, you can't see the original rim at all once the covers are installed. Which one are you leaning towards?

@JohnLCharette thanks for the offer but Toronto is a bit too far away. I live in Sweden😁
Hop, skip and a jump away ;)

@@JohnLCharette I reached out their customer service and that was their recommendation (add more tape). We shall see how it goes.
did any of them affect the M3 range?
Not that I noticed. No difference.

What’s your tint %?
20% tint all around. Are you considering getting yours tinted?
@@JohnLCharette thinking about 20% all doors and back. Also ordered the Uberturbine Covers
We’ve always enjoyed 20% on our vehicles. Amazing! We love our Uberturbines. Thanks for the support.
They sent you 4 left covers opposed to 2 lefts and 2 rights, those turbines are on backwards on the right hand side
Are you sure they just aren't all the same? I never even thought to check to see if there was right and left.

Has anyone tried painting these?
I haven't, but I'll pin this message so others find it.
Uberturbine looks better
Agreed. Those are the ones we continue to use on our Model 3 Highland.
