Thanks! I switched to 9-42 .I will try some 8s. I didn’t know about less than 9. Glad to hear string breakage is not a big problem.

Yeah, I was planning on switching to 8s but when I saw there were 7s I thought it was worth trying out. I’ve been pretty happy. If you stretch your strings out when you put them on, just be a bit gentle with that first string, I broke a students string for them because I was seeing how much it could stretch. Luckily I had an extra on hand.

I always thought that lighter gauge would be easier, so I'd look for the lightest and best bargain. Ended up with .009. I'll give the 7s a try when my supply runs out. or I buy a new guitar, whichever comes first. Thanks for the link. I added the strings to my wish list.

Yeah, lighter is MUCH easier. That’s also why all my acoustics have 10s on them too

7’s and 8’s are great strings! I’ve never gone back since changing mine. Playing is a lot easier and less stressful on the fingers. Hope you enjoy them when the time comes!

Would a set of 7s be great for my first ever guitar

Absolutely. They'll be super easy to play and will require less strength to press down.
