Wow 🤩 what a trek. Well done guys!!!! That brought some wonderful memories from when I did it back in 2008. Did you make it to Porto Venere just down the coast from Riomaggiore? Best ice cream I’ve ever tasted there!!! And the most beautiful church perched high on a rock over the sea ❤
Thanks Alan 😊 ...there wasn't really any planning with the trains, we just headed to the station and took it one step at a time until we got where we needed to be! Cheers...Andy&Michelle
It was actually mentally challenging towards the end, there was a lot of climbing only to descend again into the next village and then go again. Ordinarily when the full path is open the last two sections are flat so we definitely did it the hard way 😀 cheers...Andy&MIchelle
Sharon loves this walk on her stepper at the gym. I'm thinking that's a bit easier than the real thing but we'll give it a crack. Maybe over 5 days with a night in each town. Don't need to rush these things. 🤣🤣 We thoroughly enjoyed the whole experience. Such nice views.
Now I want to see that route on the stepper, might have to pop to the gym. Is it just on the stepper or also on the running machine? If the route is repaired the last two village walks are pretty flat so 2-3 days would do it, unless you wanted to spend a lot of time in each village soaking up the views which wouldn't be a bad thing! 😀 cheers...Andy&Michelle
@@ExtremeMotorhomingAdventures will let you know on the gym equipment. We just received new machines Monday. PS. Barney, we were very disappointed you didn't jump. We thought you were going off for sure. Loved the commentary Michelle. 😁
@@travellingwithcrowsfeet I did actually jump, there was another takeoff point a metre lower but it was out of view, it was high enough to hurt my feet as I hit the water, not ideal on a big hike! 😅
@@ExtremeMotorhomingAdventures Darren likes acting like a 18 yr old too. Well done. It makes you feel alive. Michelle, the walk is on both machines but no cliff diving.
Thanks Lammy, the refreshments were very welcome...I really could have done with a beer after the drone flying to calm my nerves..it was a long way out to get those shots! 😀 cheers...Andy&MIchelle
Yep note to self, never go for a walk with Andy. Great video thoroughly enjoyed that, strangely delighted we did it by boat when we saw it. Chapeau guys that was a lot of climbing very fit !
That looked like a proper work out. Stunning scenery definitely on our list. Hurry up and post your trip to Lake Maggiore, we’re off there in about 10 days in our van. Judging by the landscape assume you can’t much closer in the MoHo.
Hi Andy... your right, you can't get much closer, there are some sites at Levanto which are a shorter train ride, just working on Lake Maggiore now😀 it does take about 20 hours to make each video though😂, hope to have the next one out sometime next week but thats the Italian side only, the video after will be from Locarno on the Swiss side of Maggiore, the further north on Maggiore we got the more we enjoyed it. Cheers...Andy&Michelle
@@ExtremeMotorhomingAdventures Great videos can see why they take so much time to edit. Your drone shots are excellent. We might stop off at Locarno on the way down from Lucerne. There looks like an interesting train ride to Domodosola. Look forward to seeing your Maggiore video, keep up the great content.
Thanks for sharing your travels through different countries ( Bosnia) is nice but blighted by land mimes as is parts of Croatia but my wife and I want to do the italy 🇮🇹 route but perhaps longer at different locations stunning and scenery ENJOY
Thanks James, you're very welcome😀 I'm sure we'll visit Bosnia too at some point, we got very close while visiting Croatia a couple of years ago but didn't have time before we caught the Ferry from Dubrovnic to Italy. Happy Travels😀 Andy&Michelle
Wow that walk looked absolutely stunning! Jaw dropping views and beautiful drone footage as always 😊 good to hear you out of breath for a change you are human after all. David said he wished he was in that water with you 😆 loved this, thanks for sharing C x
It was a stunner😀 and David the water was so beautiful, it was just the right temperature..just cold enough to cool down from the walking without being overly cold. I need to go back and do the jump from the very top, I bottled it because the take off point was small and slippery, i went off about a metre lower but even that hurt my feet as i hit the water! 😀 cheers...Andy&MIchelle
Wow amazing walk, what fabulous scenery, you definitely earned the food and drink in that heat to🥵! What do you take with you on long walks like that? You always seemed so prepared.
Hi Nikki, what we take varies depending on a number of factors like the distance, if there are places on route to get water, the weather...generally speaking we'll take a litre of water each, sandwiches, a chocolate bar and sweets. In extreme situations on hot remote walks we've taken 5 litres of water between us , also if there's any chance of cold or rain we take extra clothing as well, we also have the camera equipment and we took the drone on this hike too 😀 cheers...Andy&MIchelle
@@ExtremeMotorhomingAdventures thanks for the info, we’ve really enjoyed watching your latest adventures in Italy. We are hoping to do more walking after being inspired by your travels.
That looked like quite a walk; you're both looking well. We were a bit further south - just done Rome and Tuscany. I need to put a video together since so many things to tell people about. Also, we thought about driving the camper down, but cheated, flew and hired a Fiat Panda 🙂
Another one, absolutely stunning. How do you two research to find such great walks, do you go to places and find them, or have you researched before going. If researching before are you just googling great walks in the area or do you have other sources to search with? Hope you don’t mind me asking.
Hi Tony, most of the time we only know where we are going to be the day before so there's virtually no advance planning. In this case though we had hiked it 10 years ago and we wanted to go back and do it again, the lower path was open last time so this time was harder, but better. When we get to a destination we check the hikes on the wikiloc app, look at google maps for places of interest, we talk to the campsite owners and locals. The internet wasn't so good 10 years ago and we were using books, this one was in "Classic walks in Western Europe" Cheers...Andy&Michelle
By this time on our tour we'd been hiking and biking for over a month so no recovery at at 😀 The next day we were out on our bikes climbing the hills around Portofino as you'll see in the next video😀 Cheers...Andy&Michelle
Ha ha not how we imagined that hike to be - Just like you guys to smash it in a day 😆 How long overall would you say would be a good amount to spend there and are there closer campsites than the one you stayed on ? Also is there a cycle route available ? Great video tho, those drone shots are EPIC !! Ian & Angie 🚐💨❤
I'd say 3 days would be sufficient, 1 day biking along the railway line (very easy - I'd include some beach stops), 2 days hiking the trail - it was a full on day and we didn't get enough time to see Riomaggorie. There are some sites at Levanto which would be worth a look too but nothing close to the villages, you don't really need to be close really as the train service between them is so good. Cycling between the villages isn't really a thing, the roads are very steep going down to them. Yes we were happy with the drone shots , thankfully it made it worth carrying the drone all day! Cheers...Andy&Michelle
Hi, this was filmed using a mini 2, I now have the mini 4 Pro. It is a bit worrying sometimes flying in high wind but it’s been ok, if I’m concerned I’ll fly into the wind to start with so I can be sure of getting it back😀 cheers…Andy&Michelle
