The whole Nazi arc is just weird. How does the villain receive an almost guaranteed win by taking out most of the good guys just to have Americans and the Soviets discover the power of friendship, which got broken up literally as soon as season 1945 ended.

    • @conlia
      @conlia 2 года назад +9

I also need to say, I hate just how unrealistic and lazy the writing became when they got to the Allied leaders in the WW2 arc. I mean, who was out there demanding a “Winston Churchill redemption” storyline? No politician comes back after something like Gallipoli! And they straight up make him not just a hero but like savior of Britain and western democracy?!? Where did this even come from?!
And you can tell they just gave up on developing America. Ah yes, America will of course just re-elect the same man four times, who will also oversee the recovery from the greatest economic collapse ever seen AND the greatest conflict the war has ever known. But they were so fucking lazy they couldn’t even think of a new name, so they just make him this never heard of before “cousin” of Theodore Roosevelt. And of course, because they had to just make him entirely sympathetic, the man is a literal cripple! And even better, somehow no one notices or cares!!!
I swear, the level of laziness they had towards the writing for the allies almost ruins the the WW2 arc for me. It’s only because of how compelling it all is in the execution that I can mostly stomach such lazy story contrivances

    Top 3 Best Underrated Arcs
    3. Munster Rebellion while It may have been a short lesser known series, I think it was fun and the writers, had a good time during the arc. It had all the Chaos during the Reformation Arc but it felt it fit in really well. I remember the hype people talking about "will the end happen" It never did. Matthys Death showed the brutality of the show, He was viscously murdered and the censors were angry but the writers convinced them otherwise. Van Liden and his group was both funny and dark. The end of the Siege and the executions were brutal and the special effects are awesome, the Cages is also a great detail keeping them their to this day.
    2. The Taiping Rebellion was a cool Arc that was one of the best, it combined Christian Characteristics, with Chinese Imperialism. Hong was a cool character who led the Largest rebellion in many seasons. It was a cool spin, with good cameos from both The UK and France. It lasted 14 seasons, but I ended kind of anticlimactically the dude just died, and the whole thing collapsed, and just forgotten.
    1. Emperor Puyi I think it's one of the best Underrated Arcs. Remember Puyi the Emperor that had a small role at the end of the Victorian Series? Well he wasn't forgotten, he is now given his own territory that could reform the fallen empire, unfortunately for him that wasn't the case. he was shadowed by Hirohito. His end though was kind of happy, he did get a small redemption, glad the writers gave him a happy ending

So when suddenly most of it just comes to an end without any reason what so ever, it kinda pissed me off! WW1 is lazy writing out the whazoo.
Oh yeah the bad guys have a horn on their head just so you know they're bad, and the writers clearly realised they'd way OP'd the Entente so they just made Russia the big clumsy one that can die off, but then they go and replace it with the de-US exmachina once the evil unicorns have balanced the scales a bit.
And the sequels good, but I mean, overcompensating a bit, y'know?
Oooh what if the bad guys came back BUT WERE EVEN EVIL-ER and actually got the territories they were after in the original?
But with the power of a Relatable yet fantastical middle aged, overweight drinking man who just won't back down, an unlikely and maybe even questionable team-up with some red shirts in the east, and the return of the God character, the world is saved again and the bad guy is so humiliated he ragequits life, and the God character can just drop these bombs that K.O the second villain - oh yeah, the power of the sun defeating the rising sun, real poetic.
Guess we'll see what the writing team does with the next installment.

Don't forget the ancient Egypt prequel. One day there are some dipshit farmers around and then suddenly they made all of these great triangles? Did writers seriously didn't notice what a massive waste of money, time and resources would it be for them to actually pull something like that off? The Egyptian prequel was the dumbest, cheapest cash grab I have ever seen in my life

Portugal discovered america before columbus and kept it hidden that's why we refused his service. We knew america was there and that you couldn't get to india through there. That's also why portugal discovered (or rediscovered depending on if you believe the greeks) the maritime route to india

On the blimp thing I think it’s because hydrogen is unlimited or is in a lot more high abundance to the very limited and expensive helium which also does not do Hydrogens job as well so they weren’t cost effective, limited space in the blimp cabin it really wasn’t as luxurious as it looked and also many blimps were shot down during ww1 (although it is correct they could not be if they flew high enough) which also put public opinion against the blimp. I say all this but I do agree blimps would be kinda cool to see around today ( sorry for being such a fact checker )

What about Stalin's death? He was a huge villain in the 1917th to 1953rd seasons, but then he just...dropped dead? I mean, the writers gave hints that the fan-favourite side character Tito may have assasinated him, but they never confirmed or denied it, and then Stalin's sidekick just goes off to do his own thing while the USSR, which was supposed to be the next big villain to finally complete the World Wars trilogy, just...un-villainises? Well, the spy arcs, the Vietnam arc and the 1962 special were pretty good, but I think it was a bit dissapointing.

It's not a plot hole, but I think the Beer Hall Putsch was a poor writing choice in Hitler's prequel series. You expect me to believe that he made this coup to try and overthrow the government, failed miserably but eventually took over anyway? What was even the point of this? It just makes his eventual takeover unrealistic. The Stalin prequel did the "villain gradually cultivates power" arc much better

    What grinds my gears?
The fact that people think 2020 is the darkest season in the show. Like does no one even remember the Holocaust plot point during the WWII Arc?
Seriously though, people really need to chill the fuck out. It does nothing for your mental health to take an, admittedly crappy situation, and perceive it as even worse than it is.
