    Bruh moment number 1: Franz Ferdinand being called Franz Josephs son.

    Hold up, Franz Ferdinand wasn't the son of Franz Joseph, he was his nephew. Franz Joseph's son commited suicide, so that's why Franz Ferdinand became the heir apparent

      I guess that was typical for a character like him. Going from a little Macedconian king to singlehandedly conquering the biggest empire at the time. But from a strategic standpoint that decition was stupid af, I mean he had a son and his wife, Roxanna was the daughter of Darayus III. (so her son had a claim to the throne from both sides) And his mother or perhaps Ptolemy or some other of Alexander's generals could've acted as a regent.

    Vidovdan isnt anniversary of the Ottoman victory. It wasnt a victory on either side, cuz both Tsar Lazar (Serbian monarch) and Sultan Murat (Ottoman sultan) were killed in the battle. Serbs say they won the battle and celebrate it because of the murder of Murat by the legendary Serbian knight Miloš Obilić, who killed the Ottoman sultan. Turks celebrate it because it was the begining of the end for Serbia, and the begining of rise for Ottomans. Also Franz Ferdinand wasnt really seen as a threat, but rather a spit on the face for all the south slavs, especially Bosnian Serbs, for making a military parade on Vidovdan.

    He was a brusque, no nonsense man but he was sadly perhaps the only one who could have stopped WW1. He did not want war and he wanted desperately to unite the Empire. He and his beloved wife who was shunned at Court because she was "only" a COUNTESS so she couldn't be with him in an official capacity except in regards to Military duties it was also their wedding anniversary. I think the Serbians, giving the date June 28th being a special day for Young Bosnia, the 'Black Hand' took the watching of 'Military Exercises' as a sign of Escalation but I think Franz and Sophie just wanted to get away and be together ❤️ I must credit "Extra Credits" History Channel for this information. 💙

    Fun Fact: The driver didnt make wrong turns, it was part of a pre set evacuation plan and the driver was following it to a tee, after a previous assassination attempt just occurred. The unlucky part was the fact it was a one way street where another assassin was specifically planted (Princip, who was part of the assassination plot and was part of the Black Hand terror group) incase the first assassin messed up. However reddit would like you to believe otherwise

    • @qqLucaqq
      @qqLucaqq 3 года назад

      This is false. The Konvoi went the wrong/not planned way and also cut the curve as there was left sided traffic. The driver wasnt informed fully about the route and also the 2 cars in front of the archdukes car went the wrong way too. He had to put the car in reverse to get back on the right path, which resulted in the car standing still for a few seconds, paired with the cut curve made a perfect shot for Princhip (2m away from him) , who sat in the Cafe "Moritz Schiller" and took his admittedly very lucky 2 shots. Sophie was hit in the lower body by the deformed first (ricochet) shot, the archduke was hit in the throat after begging his wife to stay alive for their kids. ("Sophie, Soferl, don't due, stay alive for our kids!")
      This time "Reddit" was right, it was all because of a few wrong turns, many bad desicions and 2 lucky shots by a terrorist. Where did you hear your version of the story?

    • @MrToasterWaffles
      @MrToasterWaffles 3 года назад

      @@qqLucaqq Well apparently your getting your information from Wikipedia of all places as that is to a tee what is on the wiki page for the assassination of Archduke Ferdinand. I am getting my info from the World History And Geography book by MCGRAW HILL, it is a 70 dollar history book going through major points of history, one of those being the lead up to WW1, the assassination of the Archduke.

      @@MrToasterWaffles The price says nothing about the source itself. And no, I get my sources from the HGM, the Military Museum of Austria, where the very car and uniform of the Archduke lie until today. Id say that they know it the best.

      Well his father Phillip II who unified all of Greece, a deed great enough on its own and was beloved by everyone was poisoned. Some argue Alexander even had smth to do with his assassination. That's a consistent theme in Greek politics, from the ancient era to today. The greater a leader you are the more likely u get assassinated.
