The paintings are amazing. The music is irritating and oft seem to want to call attention to itself than the paintings. Its shrill, overacted useless accenting to otherwise great works that can stand alone, without that abominable scoring. The editing and abrupt panning out, the zooming in on details and thus not allowing the viewer enough time to take in the WHOLE work (as its characteristic composition was meant to be absorbed, not from its detailing alone) is terrible. You guys should re-do this video and fire the guy who did the silly zoom in, and dawdling on details and then that stupid abrupt cut when the entire piece is shown. And please, mute that stupid scoring. We can better apprecite it without that shrillness.

Je suis désolé que vous n’aimiez pas la musique qui m’a été inspirée par ces peintures. Je n’ai rien à redire à cela ; je peux seulement vous suggérer de « couper le son » ?
Quant à la façon dont la peinture est ici montrée : vous regrettez, si j’ai bien compris, de ne pas avoir « assez le temps » de considérer les tableaux « dans leur entier » ?
En effet, ce film… n’est qu’un film. Comme tout film, il impose le rythme de son montage et de ses cadrages au spectateur. En conséquence chaque spectateur a le droit de ne pas y adhérer. Si vous voulez admirer ces œuvres à votre guise, vous n’avez pas d’autre solution que de vous déplacez, vous-même, pour allez les voir dans une exposition, un musée ou une galerie, et d’y prendre tout le temps qui vous semble nécessaire.
En un mot, ce film n’est pas un documentaire. Il ne prétend pas être, de lui-même, « la peinture elle-même » -pour autant qu’il serait possible que celle-ci soit présente quelque part. Donc, ce film ne montre rien d’autre que la façon particulière dont j’ai répondu, moi, avec mes moyens propres, à cette exposition d’œuvres de Poliakoff, dans un lieu et un temps particulier. Que cette façon ne soit pas la vôtre ne peut empêcher qu’elle doive rester la mienne.

Indeed, this film ... is just a film. Like any film, it imposes the rhythm of its editing and framing on the viewer. Consequently, each spectator has the right not to join it. If you want to admire these works of Poliakoff at your leisure, you have no other solution than to travel, yourself, to see them in an exhibition, a museum or a gallery, and to take them all the time which seems necessary to you.
In a word : this film is not a documentary. It does not pretend to be, of itself, "the painting itself" - as far as it is possible that it is present somewhere. So this film shows nothing other than the particular way in which I, myself, responded with this exhibition of Poliakoff's works, in a particular place and time. That this way is not yours cannot prevent it from remaining mine.
