Currently reading/finally got to "Hings" by Chris McQueer (not sure about its broader appeal because it's about the Scottishest book that ever Scottished - probably thinks "Trainspotting" is a sassanach bastart :). After that i'll likely finish the "Machineries of Empire" trilogy (mood wise i'm not so sure but it's due back at the library after multiple renewals :). Dunno after that.
Found your channel a few days ago and am so glad I did. Very similar reading interests and you feel very relatable to me compared to most others on booktube. Plus, you have a very high quality production. 100k subscribers this year, I foresee it.
Additionally, recommendation: The Sea & Poison by Shusaku Endo. It’s Japanese literary fiction, but you seem to like books that break you. Wish your reading speed you’ll complete it in a day or two easily.

I have the full set of mass market paperbacks for Malazan. They are nice. I’m going to be starting memories of ice soon, can’t wait. Malazan so far is some of the best writing (no matter the genre) I have ever read.

I find it refreshingly relatable and, this year, I have decided to keep a book tracker. Mostly to hold myself accountable to read books that I keep meaning to get to. I'm also super jealous of your set up. It is what I aspire my book room to look like. HOWEVER... I must admit that, every time you throw a book on the floor, I die a little inside.
You should read the Annotated Dracula it has some interesting information in it concerning the book, author, the Victorian Age, and lots of other facts you could learn.
Looking forward to both Dracula and your opinion on 20 century Boys. I read Dracula for the first time early last year(I normally don’t care for horror story, especially vampires). However I glad I took the time to read the original story of Count Dracula, it’s was actually good and interesting.

Hallowe'en Party was Agatha 's finest and Original Sin by Pd James. I have read these books many times, i have seen The tv shows , but i am crazy about it
If you dig Dracula, you may enjoy Carmilla! It's older (by about 25ish years) and inspired Stoker (and all other modern Western vampire stuff) - a shorter, more bottle gothic story, but definitely worth checking out if you want to do more classic vampire reading!

I enjoy your presentations as you are adept at straight-forward reviews where you could gush or hammer a book and neither approach seems to be self-serving, snobbish, or acting. Big test though for my future interest(not really)is your feelings about “Dracula.” I too delayed reading, and what a mistake. I was worried I’d be put off by the writing style of that era in long form, but the presentation choice pulls it off and gave the drama an immediacy that I was not expecting. I look forward to your review.
The Duke Classics publisher's Dracula audiobook is very good. I think listening to it made the book much more digestible. It's a bit of a challenging read without it. The tone helps you feel the characters' emotions better. There's a great cast of voice actors. Van Helsing's voice was great.
The really nice ones that have slip covers (dracula being a good example) mostly come from the folio society. They are my favorite books. They are also quite expensive 😕

Some new reads I got after going through some peoples' end of year lists: Stoner, Kim Jiyoung, Born 1982, Project Hail Mary, A Short Stay In Hell, Between Two Fires and Blood Over Bright Haven. Not a bad start to 2025 at all.
Oh man... The Bone Clocks is amazing, just as Cloud Atlas is. But no word of a lie, Mitchell's "The Thousand Autumns of Jacob de Zoet" changed my life. If I had to recommend a book to anyone, that would be it. Hope you get to that one as well...
Malazan is my favorite up until crippled god, and part of dust of dream with knowing what comes after. Maybe its just me, i prefer not to engage with "fandom" so dont know the consensus, but its such a let down.
Talking about the malazan books, i got all 10 trade paperbacks and the last 2 break the format of the previous 8. The cover illustrations are awful, the typeface is different, it drives me nuts to look at.
