- This is not the first Landcruiser front knuckle re-build I have done, But this one is different! due being so much older there is a number of things that are very different to what you would normally find on the front end of a cruiser.
With a Ball and claw axle CV setup. Plus we find damaged bearings, but all is repairable.
Check out the below links for products used throughout the build:
All adhesives, welding chemicals, aerosol and lubricants and cleaning chemicals from:

You are the Man! Thanks so much for all your videos, it helps me no end restoring my 1980 BJ40 which came from Oz to southern Ireland and then finally to the UK...sorry about your Go-Pro.
So cool to see the early Cruiser. I cant wait to get to the phase where I can actually start rebuilding stuff on my project BJ42.
That ball joint was cool to see. Thanks for another awesome video.
yessss
I have a 71 but I am upgrading to front disc from later year 40.
Good vid Jayson, What is that style of cv joint called ? It's not one I have seen before.
It’s a Rockwell “Ball and Claw” axle design, a holdover from the Willys jeep’s from the war. I think they were replaced by Birfield joints in ‘68 or ‘69. I have the same setup on my ‘66 and I think they’re pretty cool.
Yes Nuburg is spot on, I didn't know that the willys Jeeps had them too, that is cool.
Did I hear something about putting a barra in a 40? If so, have you seen this guy on RUclips? ruclips.net/video/AWS192Brubw/видео.html
