I love the way you got the resin to stay in the rim of the bowl, then turned off the excess, really nice idea (seems obvious now, but I'd never have thought of it!). Came out looking awesome too!
The effect of the Aluminum and resin is amazing , I'm a horder too lol but I don't think I have any laying around , sooo, a trip on the cards to where I used to work and ask one of the workshop lads if there is any in the scrap metal bin😊 A superb and inspiring project Carl ! Cheers, Bram
Nice project love the edge, I am an ex-metal-smith so I love the mix. I usually use a shellac, a 50/50 mix, It is what I use as a sanding sealer, before applying any colored fills or even clear fills. If I do a CA fill it will stain the wood and you have to cut it our,. Where the shellac sealer will minimize the staining hence less turning/sanding.
Always love the way you show a simple method to achieve a stunning different look to a project. That shows others ways to get different effects and alternative means to make something different that many just don't think about or realize possible. Very nice, as usual!
Nice job Carl bowl looks great. Just a heads up If you coat the wood first with some think or don't have a dovetail in the bottom of your resin trench it will separate over time Specially if you have big difference between Winter and summer the bowl keeps moving and will pop that rim right off within a year even with a good clear coat on it. It's sounds crazy right buts it's just the nature of the beast wood doesn't stop moving even when it's dry and it stronger then the resin because the resin is brittle and has no give in it. Its awesome to see how really strong timber is.
Would be interesting to see if it does move in other areas down under in nz I have done bowls like that within 2-3 months had to bin them. If it doesn't move in a couple of months let me know because I have a awesome project you can try its the best looking resin bowl I have done. Your video was awesome as always. Thanks David
Looks great, Carl. When you first poured the resin I though you were going to leave it as an inlay (I know you mentioned it). It looks even better this way. Take care. Bill
Have you been watching Nick again??? LOL Beautiful bowl Carl! But sure would have been nice to see you core that beautiful Maple Enjoyed your video so I gave it a Thumbs Up as I always do what I watch one of them
Thank you Ron!! Peter Brown and I did a collab video years ago. He made a plank with aluminum shavings for me to turn. ruclips.net/video/rFlpCfB-cKA/видео.html I thought it would look cool as an accent with the wood.
Would you look at that! Or maybe, wood you look at that ;) I don't think I could do this though, not sitting here anyway. You've got a really practiced hand
Boa tarde: está peça ficou linda e esse detalhe do alumínio com a resina ficou um dez , você têm uma tecnica. E a sua tranquilidade de um verdadeiro artista sua peça esta lindissima meus parabéns um forte abraço fica na ✌
Carl, that's a nifty looking inlay. I'm kind of new at this. Would you please clarify what you were saying about CA glue at about 10:50? When you said 'coat the whole thing' were you talking about just the inlay channel or the entire bowl?

Thank you David!! I'm curious to see what happens to it. We're in Oregon so we don't get as much movement as some other places, but we'll see.

Thank you Tom! I was talking about just coating inside the grove, so the resin didn't soak into the wood.
Nice work! I’m surprised you wanted to do another murder bowl.
You know my middle name is DANGER lol....Thanks buddy!
One more great video and so nice music !
Is it possible to know who is the guitarist and the name of the album ?

Is there a way of putting an inlay like this on the outside of the vessel? By the way Carl, beautiful bowl.
Thank you Rob! Yes, but you would need to figure out a way to hold the resin while it dries.
boa gostei, tenta outra co metal amarelo, parabens
Eu acho que cobre ficaria bem também
Carl, have you heard of a guy named Odair Lucas? He's a genius at doing a lot with a little. Give his channel a try.
