For everyone commenting that this is actually Japanese--the real answer is that it's complicated. Research World War II, Imperial Japan, and their control of East Asian and Southeast Asian nations.
Remember that every nation which is at least a few hundred of years old have been influenced by other cultures to the degree where eventually the results of those influences are no longer considered foreign but an accepted and natural part of that culture.

It's likely that it's one of those foods that was integrated into the native culture from a foreign one. In this case, from World War II when Japan's then-Imperial government colonized this and other Southeast Asian and East Asian nations. So yes, this is Imagawayaki from Japan (i.e. the Adzuki bean one) that was then modified to fit the local flavors better and changed to suit modern preferences. That is why Adzuki is likely considered the most "traditional" one.
