We apologize for taking so long in this video but really loved learning about the creators bias! Suga seems like such a sweet person who has worked so hard to make his fans and family proud. This is a long comment but I hope you'll read it and start reacting to Suga's mixtape AGUST D ❤
Min Yoongi was born on March 9th, 1993 in Daegu, South Korea and is currently 24 years old. Yoongi started playing the piano at a very young age, and, according to the lyrics in his solo (First Love by Suga) the piano was the only thing that seemed to stay by his side throughout all of his hardships. Through these lyrics we can see how much of an impact music had on his life even at such a young age. As he grew older, Suga began to grow an interest in producing music. At the age of 13, he wrote songs, created original beats, and worked in a music studio. Eventually, Yoongi got the nerve to tell his parents about his desire to pursue his dream of becoming a musical artist. But, his parents were strongly opposed to the idea and discouraged him from anything that remotely related to music. Suga revealed that at one point his parents had thrown away all of his written songs, hoping that he would focus more on his studies than on his musical interests. In another interview, Suga had also revealed that his parents had taken abusive measures to keep him from becoming an artist. (*Although, before you jump to conclusions about his parents, please keep in mind that Yoongi has forgiven his parents and respects them now more than ever.*)
*“As for me...[my parents] were very much against [me becoming a rapper] to make me reconsider [my choice], they hit [me] and fought, and things like this...so I made music [under those circumstances].” -SUGA*
Even though his parents were strongly against his ambitions, Yoongi persevered. He never stopped or gave in to his parent’s wishes, only because he felt that strongly for his love of music. He left his hometown Daegu and went to Seoul. At the age of 16, Suga set out to make more music, this time without his parent’s permission. At the time, things for Yoongi had been quite rocky. He worked as a composer and a performer, but not many people would come to his shows or buy his CD’s. He was so financially unstable that every day he had to choose between starving himself or riding the bus home (and he always choose to starve 😭💔), because he was too poor to pay for both food and transportation. Even so, he helped produce mixtapes with other rappers in Daegu and continued to work in the music studio despite these unfortunate circumstances. He even produced songs for others but in the end it gets ripped off/he doesn't get paid.
And as if all this weren’t enough, the atmosphere of the people around him, some of which were loved ones, became toxic. People told him that he would never make it as an artist, that he would make his family go bankrupt if he continued to do things like this. He later joined an underground crew called D-Town and produced many songs for other artists, such as Reflow. It has not been said what happened between D-Town and Suga, but it is known that this is when he was rumored to have started working for a man named Bang Shi Hyuk, also known as the main man behind BigHit Entertainment, the company of BTS. But of course, tragedy had to strike yet again. Yoongi started to look for a part-time job because he needs money to make music and to live so he worked as a part timer delivering meals to people with a motorcycle and then he suffered from a major accident leaving him with an injured shoulder. The exact details of Suga’s shoulder injury has not been addressed upfront, but it has been referenced to in his lyrics several times. (The Last by Agust D)
His shoulder injury seemed to have been the last straw. He thought about giving up everything because of it-his dreams, his career, his future. After all, everything he did seemed to end in suffering. What was the point in continuing to do what he loved if it only caused him pain? Yoongi has been suffering from mental illnesses since his pre-debut days. As we all know, depression and anxiety aren’t just things that go away with time, which means that Yoongi has been battling these disorders even before BTS came about. He had been suffering for years on his own, with no one to help him. And yet, he still managed to pull through in the end.
But, that’s when he realized something. Throughout all of this shit that he had gone through, he realized that the only thing that remained by his side was his piano, which from a greater perspective probably represents music as a whole. Even though his love for music came with a lot of suffering, it was also the one thing that had given him happiness and encouragement throughout all of his journey. So, with the help of his first love, he decided to keep fighting. Similarly to the atmosphere surrounding Suga during his music studio days, people made fun of BTS, saying that they would never make it as an idol group, that they were fools. That BTS was a joke, a group that would always remain in the shadows of major idol groups and would later fade into the background. Other artists dissed them and tried hard to drag down their name. But that didn’t stop Yoongi, nor any of the other members. The members of BTS fought their way to the top through hard work and dedication, proving everyone they knew wrong. They worked their asses off and slowly began to rise to fame. Suga’s parents did not support him for the first year since BTS’ debut. But as time went on, his parents slowly began to loosen up after seeing how much of an effect music had on him, and then eventually they became their son’s #1 supporters. Yoongi first acknowledged his parents at a concert, giving a speech about his experiences and then, overcome with emotions, began to cry as he bowed to his parents in the audience.
Yoongi is known as the member who is the best at hiding his feelings resulting in him coming off as cold and isolated, which is definitely not the case-he’s anything but that. He’s hard-working, wise, and is often referred to as a genius lyricist. He truly cares for others, he’s just not very good at showing it.

We really appreciate the long comments so definitely no worries on that! We enjoyed reading more about Suga because we didn’t realize just how hard his life was and how much he really has persevered. We understand the situation with his parents and are so glad that they are supportive now because it must be difficult to be successful without the support of people you love. It’s very admirable that Suga has fought so hard to overcome everything and we truly love the fact that he is open about the things his has/is going through. Depression and anxiety can be very difficult to talk about, but the fact that he does more than likely helps his fans who struggle know they are not alone. We definitely plan on listening to his mixtape because not only did it impress us, but he is a person who we both relate to and would like to appreciate his music even more. Nikkie Nick you are absolutely right, that is one of the reason why I love him I also suffer with depression, nobody knows what I feel but I feel comforted with BTS songs. I recommend these songs that always makes me cry.

I also connect so much to suga... i have ptsd and depression and when i heard his mixtape i was so touched. I’m grateful and amazed that he opened up to the world and tried to remove some of the stigma that comes with mental illness. At that time (when the mixtape came out), I was having a difficult phase and his music helped me cope.

You guys are almost done just ma boo Jin left :( but if u guys like these vids a lot Squishy Min Yoongi also has a Intro to bts era similar to this which goes thru each of Bts's eras and how they grew as people and musically, its funny like these members vids too. Also I'm glad that u related to Yoongi a lot of ppl really resonated with him when he dropped his mixtape and i still bless him for sharing that with us, u guys should really check out the mixtape specifically the song "The Last" the lyrics for it are just beautiful. Also a lot of the members so far just Yoongi and RM (soon Jhope) have solo careers but they are still in BTS, lots of kpop idols do that actually. :)

I think part of the reason why they are still very humble and are essentially nice people is because of their CEO Bang Shi Hyuk or Bang PD (producer director).
He is the reason why the boys only have 1 twitter account for BTS since he said the group is one family. He also reminds the boys to never forget where they came from (rookies with much hate and doubted by the public that they could make it big).

It's almost 10pm and i'm so sad that I may have to save this video to watch tomorrow D: Yoongi's my bias and I honestly love watching people react to his intro video by squishy so much... I can only place it on the reason of- I literally feel so happy and just proud when I see people understanding how FAR he's come and how much he's been through and... I can understand personally why he's my bias. Those struggles he went through? Similar to what I've been through and still am- He's literally one of the only people I can say has 100% inspired me. They all have, honestly, but I just feel such an emotional and personal connection to Yoongi that I can't help being just so in love with him xD Ah this hurts meee ;-; I will save it to watch tomorrow and I also need to watch your first reaction videos to them because I started at kookie's intro and am now here :D New subscriber here!! xD Just a side note that today, the 29th of January, like right around this time is my 10 month anniversary of having my life taken over by them,.... and I'm so glad it happened. Well I'm very excited to watch all your future reactions to these angels :) I always am cautious about my rambles (well I try to be at least) because I know sometimes it's just too much readddiiiinnngggg xD like I get that, trust me. But I just can't get my comment down to a few short lines of words o.o Now I know you are gonna probably do a reaction to the "bts is a family not a group" videos but I also really recommend other videos from Squishy. The Era videos are very good to understand each and every "era" they've had throughout their progression in being a group and the whole storyline thing (that made no sense sorry xD). Also her more recent series of "A Video to Watch When You're Sad" is something you COULD react to but even if you just wanna watch it randomly, I don't blame you at all. They're beautiful. Also the older videos "A video to make you fall in love with..." are reallllyyy good! I just love that channel wow. Hello it is I again :D Uhm I watched this now and I just.. I know my other comment was fairly long (I ramble easily especially because I don't feel like my thoughts translate to the words I say or type in a way that others will get what I mean- If that makes sense)... I kinda knew this already but while watching your reaction and hearing your ending comments, I relate on him a lot more than I acknowledge. My father is beyond unsupportive (is that even a word ?) and sometimes I can't even relate to others talking about their parents. That same thing of "don't risk not having anything! Get a stable job and be a civilized human being! You need to survive" is such a reoccurring thing that it's all I can think about when on the rare times I'll consider talking to him about what I want to do in the future. I mean Yoongi being my bias is just so understandable to me.. I don't think anyone else could truly understand just how much he means to me. I really think you should check out his mixtape, make sure to have the subtitles on if you watch the "agust d" and "give it to me" music videos (the little cc buttons ofc- it's on the official video btw). Also maybe react to the Jimin and Yoongi - Tony Montana performance ? Definitely I think you should listen to/ look at the lyrics for "The Last" off his mixtape, I can't listen to it without crying. I don't know Korean and although I'm trying to learn, it doesn't matter that I don't even remember the exact translation while listening to it- the emotion is so evident in his voice and just wOw look another essay ahah sorry
