    I look forward to following your content. I'm a 58 year old Canadian heart attack survivor. Up to my heart attack, I was an endurance trail runner. Walking was/is the focus of my recovery process. While I want to return to trail running. I think my path forward for the new year will be as you suggested, 3 power walks during the week plus one longer slower walk on the weekend (maybe on a nearby forest trail system) . Thanks for what you share!

    Oh this sounds good! I loved running in my late teens but always felt like it was too hard on my joints as I got older. I also struggled with anorexia and couldn't do a lot of sports anymore. During the pandemic I started walking and it helped me so much! No joint pain, got really fit and I got a very healthy relationship with food again. I love being in nature, so this was easily the best thing I ever did for my physical and mental health. Sadly, I got a medical condition last year due to bad luck and had six surgeries already. I got so sad because I couldn't walk long distances anymore but my surgeons always say, even walking a tiny bit every time I can is already doing a lot for my health. It's encouraging to know that I don't need to run marathons or lift heavy weights to do something for my health. Looking forward to long hikes again someday when I am back on my feet

      Thanks for sharing your story & I’m sorry you’ve had health problems & that you’re not able to exercise like you used to. It’s so good to hear your practical experience of walking & how it impacted your fitness. I hope you can return to walking distance soon & that we can help in some small way with our series. All the best. Roger

    What about strength training while doing this program?

    • @sportwalk
      @sportwalk  6 месяцев назад

      Yes, we’ll be covering basic strength work to support Sport Walking in the series. We recommend working the legs (obvs), shoulders/back & core in addition to walking sessions.
