  • A skiing POV of Steamboat Ski Resort's Why Not trail. A 3.2 mile easy trail that meanders around the mountain. This long trail is perfect for beginners as it doesn't have any steep slopes to worry about (made skiing it fast tougher). Why Not also has lots of wildlife educational signs and I promise you will see a real moose in this video (filmed by me and a bit too close for comfort). Anyway, this was just a test run of a skiing POV as I'm trying to get back into skiing videography. Next video should be out early next week (editing now) and I'm filming more skiing videos this week. COLORADO IS AWESOME!
Colorado Plankers: When I first started youtube I made skiing videos and offroad videos. The offroad content took off so that became an offroad/overland channel (Colorado Mallcrawlers). However, I'm a ski instructor and I love skiing as much as I love exploring Colorado in my Jeeps. Colorado Plankers is my attempt to bring my skiing knowledge and my love of videomaking to an audience that is into skiing. If that's you, come join me as I try to build this channel! -Dewie

this is a fantastic idea. a video of each run would get a ton of views - particularly from greenies trying to figure out/prepare for the longer runs and which ones we can survive 😂

Thanks, yeah… I like filming them. I’ll have one vid of all of Steamboat’s greens before I go back to making off-road content for my other channel. Next winter, this channel will get kicked into high gear.

We used to stay in the Ski Time Square condos back in the 80’s…it was ski in/ ski out so they were nice..not sure if they are there anymore. My brothers liked to go to the Tug Boat bar at night 😅

Ski Time Square is still around, but unfortunately Tug Boat is permanently closed. There’s some other places, but I know people miss tugboat.

My parents had a townhouse at Storm Meadows in the 70’s. I used to catch this trail where the road ended and the trail began. I would bring my dirt bike from California for the summer. The trail was down below the first row of townhouses one thru twelve.

Why not runs into Right O Way that goes to the base. I use to stay at Storm Meadows bld #400 quite a bit in the ‘80’s when it was ski in ski out. Now they’ve built those condos in front so it’s just ski in. lol. Progress. Hmm.

lol, yeah, Steamboat is an interesting mountain. Adding Wild Blue and putting a lift on Mahogany have been controversial to some of my local friends here. Still, I’m a fan, but I do miss Keystone’s long and fast cruisers… that’s the one thing missing here. The longest fast runs take only a 1-3 minutes to get down at Steamboat where Keystone’s were 5-7 minutes. However, I do like the chutes, the trees, and hike terrain here. It’s a fun mountain!
