There's no denying Renault is on a roll when it comes to hot hatches. With its rapid Renaultsport badged models, the French firm has taken the pocket rocket class by storm. We put the latest Megane 250 Cup up against it's predecessor, the extreme Renaultsport Megane R26R.

This guy is a great reviewer as he explains everything in detail!
Whats amazing here is, that both of the cars ,even though they're FWD and have about 250 hp, are faster on track than some real RWD sports car like BMW M3 e92, or Mercedes C63 AMG.
I'm so glad he came to that conclusion...you can't have fair test with such different tyres!
I lik this tester, still more serious than top gear or fifth gear!
I always like the look of the old megane don't know why people hate it so much

yes but this extrem version only the Megane III RS Trophy, not the other Megane III RS which are behind the R26R

How can you do a track comparison and have the cars fitted with completely different tyres?
great video great driving and great cars :) i would go for never model year r26r is rare will be worth mint one day but never megane is someting i would use on daily bases :) smoke all people of the lights :D

New RS is quicker than R26R. It went around Nurburgring in 8:07, whilst the R26R went around in 8:16 i think.
@powersliding Believe it or not, even with 300hp (the standard car produces nearly 270hp despite it's 250 badging) it doesn't need AWD for power down or grip. Give it 300hp and 150kgs of AWD gear and it would be no quicker.
Depends what colour car on though. On black cars, not nice.

Seemed to be a lot of induction sound there, or is that just how they are ??
Lack of any interesting sound puts me off an r26
in short, renault has taken away the racing seatbelts, and plastic windows, and gave you back some extra's like aircon and so on... BUT they didn't change what made the previous car good.
Both great cars,if the track conditions where good the R26.r would have killed the 250 around the track,R.s 250 great day car thought.

if you wanted to do this review you should have put the cars on the same tyres. as they have such different tyres we havnt really learnt anything.
Are you serious? He's driving on a track where you should keep the same hand position to judge the amount of lock to release on exists, crossing your arms is the only way to do it.
He looked more at home in the R26R , RS250 seemed to breakaway more

R26R is an amazing car, but it is a lot older and worse in most ways. Renault made a really big jump to the 250 Cup generation, not just in performance. The build quality for example is hugely better on the newer car. Enormously better. It's much nicer inside and more practical as well. It has rear seats for start lol.
@@MiraSubieGirl any unreliability or things to look out for? Did you get the cup with the LSD or the normal 250?

Engine mounts can be weak...
A tappet bolt can need threading...
Thats about it. Zero major issues and ive owned it since 2013. Sensational lil cars!
Deadly, unless your in the .01% of dudes who get to drive racing/rally cars professionally all the time that don't have airbags then you should avoid getting in the habit of crossing your arms.
...also - he gets his arms crossed all the time when steering, I thought that was a no no.

I want the 250 SO MUCH, only downside is that I live in London, and with that blindspot, Im going to be cutting up a lot of cyclists. Wait a sec, thats not a downside.... SOLD!
