A 2 mana reanimation spell is now legal in historic... but i'm glad that they are keeping the power level of the format in check by keeping Epiphany nerfed
LVD Broke the meta again. I don't play that format, but i could see through the video that the decks are literally just the same over and over. So i think this deck its a sweet and spicy way to say to everyone "Wake up! Make more decks!"

a friend and I built this years ago leaning on mizzix's and unburial rites for the combo win, then updated a few weeks ago with persist and have been playing almost this same exact list, just no white for better consistency.
I have a mono blue sphinx tribal I play in commander with Unesh Criosphinx Sovereign at the helm. Super fun when paired with 1 mana changelings and flicker effects. Play big cats, counter big spells, no max hand size.

For those building this kind of combo i suggest you play atleast 1 copy of Eldritch Pact. It enables you to deckout your opponent or just straight up burn them.
Every time you play a tapped Glasspool Mimic as a land when you have Spirebluff Canals or Seachrome Coasts that will come in tapped on later turns anyway, the optimizer in me screamed. It didn't matter, but it was strictly worse than playing the fast lands in every case.
@@CriticalStories The Spirebluff Canal is better *as a land* , so if the Fastland will come into play tapped on later turns it is strictly better to play it instead of the Mimic. Even if the Fastland will come into play tapped this turn, and even if you don't have use for the mana right now. The only time it is or can be correct to play Mimic over a blue/x fastland is on turn 1 or 2. If you play Mimic on turn 3+, the Canal will come into play tapped next turn and you'll have access to U from the Mimic. If you play the Canal on turn 3+, the Mimic will come into play tapped next turn, but you'll have U *or* R from the canal, which is strictly better. Even if you intend to play the Mimic as a land, it's still wrong to play it out over a Seachrome Coast, Darkslick Shores, or Spirebluff Canal after turn 2.
You known, i think persist is pretty close to being safe for standard. The non-legendary part excludes so many of the good reanimate targets. Also creatures in general.
This combo is so cursed. Not because it wins turn two, sure thats totally fine. But because it doesn't really do anything actually - what kills the opponent in the end are just 5/5 fliers. Thats depressing. You cast like 50 mana worth of spells, but all it does is put a flock of medium large birds on the board. The noble Scholar with its busted ability is being abused as a blunt object.

Good god that first game was disgusting. No offense to legendvd of course but i would be mad as hell if i was trying to play some fair magic and my opponent cast 50 mana worth of spells at me turn 2
And this is why I don't play normal mtg and only commander with people who also agree to only play mid power level stuff, too many broken combos. If I wanted to play a ccg with consistent turn 1 and 2 kills I would play yugioh.

Why not run this in timeless to use Reanimator? There’s definitely more options too for big hits
The metagame is better suited for this style of deck in Historic, where you don't get double Griefed on turn one.

have you tried woodlands omni? its a similar deck but it can afford to run some interaction maindeck
Have one in progress but haven’t found a build I’m happy with yet.

Check out Untapped in a few days to see stats for a larger sample size, but the deck performed well for me in the current meta.
