    This boat was amazing in 2018 when it first came out, and when we first demoed it. The improvements in 2023 make it a rock star. The 23 foot size is that sweet spot for wakesurfing, and this boat takes full advantage. Save some coin and don't skimp on the wave with the Max.

    Great boat. I love my 22 mojo. I was on the fence between it and the max. I ordered it after your review on the 21. These Moomba’s can’t be beat for the money. But I agree with you. 11.4 mph is the sweet spot. We have big guys surf at that speed with no additional weight. Thank you for all the info took all the guess work out of it.

    I run around 6200 lbs in our 2019 Max and it’s great! Hard to beat this boat for the money, especially back in 2019. I run Wakemakers bags, 200 lbs of lead in the rear, 300 lbs of lead in the front plus another 500 lbs in the bow. Speed at 11.4 most of the time and it throws a great wave 🌊

    I have a 2020 max, and really like it. It’s a great boat for our lake.
    I am having some spider cracking in the gel coat on the side of the boat. I was washing it at our dock and noticed the cracks, of course I heard “ we have never seen this in all our years” . I hope SC gets this repaired to our expectations.
    Have you see any of this type of issue ?

    Keep the reviews coming! Thank you! We recently sold our 2014 Mojo and are looking for our next boat. Surfing is our focus. Of the Makai, Mojo and Max which one do you think throws the best wave? One other wild card. Have you surfed the ATX 24 S? Was really impressed with this boat. Do you have any experience with them how would they compare to the new Moombas?

    • @wake9tv
      @wake9tv  2 года назад

      Tige/ATX waves don't have as good of a transition and are more inconsistent. Also, I can't stress how important it is to have pitch and roll at least monitored in real time on your boat. Adding that autowake works so well, its a huge benefit to surfing in my opinion. I really like the max, but the Makai is right there as well due to the extra room, Craz is too small for our family.

    How do you know when you have too much lead? What are the signs ... I didn't quite understand your explanation on that? Thanks!

    • @wake9tv
      @wake9tv  Год назад

      when your RPM is too high, for instance, over 4k can be ok at times, but I would say 3600-4k is optimal. Also, if you set your speed, and you can't maintain it, and in order to maintain the speed you have to lower your pitch, that would be another sign.

  • @JS-um4vr
    @JS-um4vr 2 года назад

    Two questions. Correct me if I’m wrong but you don’t normally use auto wake right? I was surprised to hear you used it the whole time. Also you mention a software update. Do,you know if that will be available on older boats to help auto wake?

    • @wake9tv
      @wake9tv  2 года назад +1

      I use autowake all the time on this and our Supra SL as well. I use it probably 98% of the time. Working on a video to detail how I use it and why. I don't know on the update, if it works on older moombas, usually you can to a point, but you have to check with your dealer.

    In your opinion if you are looking at the max or other moomba options is there a year where things improved a lot. Like would you be ok buying a 2014 vs say a 2018 etc. Keep hearing get 2019 and later. Thanks

    • @wake9tv
      @wake9tv  Год назад +1

      2019 was a bit update, and then this last one was a big leap. I am not sure if the big leap was in 22 or 23, but we did run with a 21 mojo, and these 23s were a significant improvement with ballast and the surf system.

    I bought a '23 Max last year, I did the wakemakers bag upgrades right away. The goofy wave at 9.5* pitch and 5-7 roll around 11.2 mph is amazing with surf tab around 70-80. I cannot get the regular wave to clean up no matter what.. I put some lead in the back to get pitch at 9.5 and roll at -1 or -2 around 11.2mph and the wave just isn't clean.. I can start to clean it up with like 70-80 surf tab but never with 60. Any tips? This video makes the regular wave look amazing.

    I have a 2021 MAX, it was the first year for the upgraded 4,000# ballast. I have added the 860 bow fit bag and upgraded to the 1345's in the rear. Total 5550 in water ballast. I believe I will take out some lead and go back in with 400# to start with. If I understand correctly, fill everything 100%, put lead in the center of the boat, then use autowake to get it to the pitch and roll I set. Once it gets that and empties water in places to achieve that, I fill back to 100%, turn off autowake, move lead around to get the pitch and roll I thought was the best? Do I follow that correctly? I have watched several of your videos and want to verify before I go and try to set this up. Thank you.

      this was didn't even have the surf pipe. I didn't notice it being loud, and our SL is quiet. It was def louder than the SL but it didn't bother me at all, mostly because the 400 is a pretty quiet motor, where the 450 is louder.

      @nickover500 2 года назад

      I am crazy like you and did add that prop to my 2020 Max. Lost a little top end speed, but marginal. Worth it for the increase torque and wave. Full 4000 lbs + 600lbs lead is perfect with 3 person crew. Monster wave. 11.3 mph. I find the autowake terrible always drains water. I just load it up and move lead/people. Need more pitch than you had in video. 10-11ish degrees and more -2/3 negative roll on surf left. Surf Right I use same roll with more pitch. We like a steep wave, but it’s still long too.
