ESPN’s Mel Kiper Jr. on why he thinks the Steelers will take Graham Barton at #20 overall tonight in the 2024 NFL Draft:
“Barton, my top-ranked center, has been a hot name in my calls with execs and coaches over the past week. People in the league think he'll be really good immediately at the next level. Pittsburgh, which picks at No. 20 and has had big-time centers throughout its history, is the team most linked with Barton (Duke). I would be estatic for Sutton, Wilson and Sutton had a really good set up going last season. Plus keep it cheap for the team to help future sign ups this year and next year.

Ok so when we drafted Pouncey with a similar pick that we’d have to tade up to (18th ) . Huge mistake right . I remember experts and fans saying at the , ugh to early , not good value , big mistake . He was just a future HOF that had our line with the help of Decastro and other guard X dominating for years with average to below average talent at OT yea your right big mistake. A big mistake would be to pass up on any of the big 3 C this year . The line is about chemistry, effort and teamwork not supposed positional value . That shit goes out the window when you actually play the game with “human beings “ . Barton is sure as hell worth a lil trade up . He will have a better career than all the tackles this year save the top two or three . Alt Fuaga and Fashanu . I guarantee it !

Trade down in the first, get mims, and then trade up in the second to try and get Jackson Powers-Johnson and get a WR in the third or maybe second…

Everybody thinks we restructure contracts for a receiver. Pay attention to what's going on. We restruction money to make sure we can afford Justin Simmons. We're not giving up any picks at this point.We draft great receivers so we're going to take our chance with drafting one.
They already made an offer to Simmons. They're not restructuring contracts to sign a 31 year old Simmons. They can address that position in the draft. And as much as I like Ayuk, it's going to be expensive. Would rather get Sutton . Gives us more flexibility

GP isn't getting paid here. We will have 150 million in cap space next year. JPJ is due in 4 years. Aiyuk's deal will be over.

As a die hard Steelers fan I definitely would like to see Sutton trade although I do believe aiyuk is ofc the better players. The chemistry with Wilson plus the price tag makes me LOVE the idea of grabbing Sutton
Just stay put at #20 or trade down a little for additional pick. No need to sacrifice picks and move up.
IDK why but I want them to draft Powers. awesome centers for the Steelers has been a staple in my opinion. I know a OT is worth more cash wise but i feel Powers has a chance at being like a 6-8 time pro bowler in the future by the time his career is done. that is always worth a 1st round and for sure a 2nd round pick. I just got a feeling about Powers

I think it's all gonna depend on who's on the board when pick #20 comes up on rather we get Brandon Aiyuk or not. If it's gonna cost the first round pick I say hell no. We need that pick for o line. I rather have Aiyuk but only if the cost is affordable. A 1st round pick is to expensive IMO.
I would be fine with getting Sutton I don't think we should trade up for anyone unless a big name starts sliding or there's a run on a certain position

I think it would be stupid to move up the draft to get a offensive tackle when there are several good offensive tackles this year in the draft a wide receiver or cornerback that would be smart to move up to get one of those. Of course, if you needed a quarterback let's say they trade Justin Fields to move up in the draft. Like to New England or somewhere that's possible
I rather trade for Sutton and then draft another WR in the first 3 rounds. Aiyuk would be great, but I'm not giving up a first in this draft for him. Not with all the OT and WR talent available in the early rounds of this current draft.

As much as I like Brandon Aiyuk, I don't think it's worth the drafts pick(s) or the price that comes with it. If we were 1 player away from a Super Bowl or knew how good are quarterback is going to be, I'd feel different. There are too many holes to fill and unanswered questions. In my humble opinion.
Common sense says Sutton hands down in our situation. And they do not have to trade up. Mitchell might be there at 20 anyway. If he not so be it.🤷♂️😁 8:31

Aiyuk all day every day… WR is the top need and they need a legit #1 with high upside. And worrying about a contract for GP when he has yet to earn one is ridiculous, especially for fans. Bring Aiyuk to the Burgh if you’re serious about this season

our defense, as good as it is, cant be expected to play 40 min a game and be successful. we need oline help to extend drives and give our defense a rest. id rather trade for sutton and use first round pick on oline.
