These guys had balls flying over a hot Vietnam jungle in a Cessna Bird Dog or Loach because you knew what was down there and they could shoot you right out of the sky.
What is the small turboprop attack aircraft at 4:50? I'm thinking maybe a Beechcraft T-34? - I had to come back and straighten this out! 6 hours later, I have discovered that the aircraft is one of only three prototypes of the YAT-28E attack aircraft proposed by North American Aviation and made of resurrected T-28 trainers heavily modified to turboprop power. The first crashed, killing its NAA test pilot, the remaining two are (I believe) in California, by way of MASDC and the late Merle Maine in Ontario, OR.
My Dad recently passed he was an A1 Sandy pilot so I grew up at Hurlburt got to go to the range several times when they were practicing Night and day ops. He would have loved this film.
Those guys were professional air warriors, but they were hurting their USAF careers. Back in the days of LeMay, unless you were SAC or nuclear certified TAC member, you would not go above major. Lt.Col. if you were gifted.
This is an interesting informational film from the U.S.A.F. During the Cold War, the U.S. Air Force maintaining an anti-guerrilla, counter-insurgency, counterrevolutionary-warfare arm was a very necessary element of the U.S. armed forces in the 1950s and 1960s in battling Communist guerrilla insurgencies in the Third World. The Congo, Indochina, and other regions in the underdeveloped world were hotbeds of Communist guerrilla and revolutionary warfare.

The irony of the Iranian assistance. If they had known what would happen twelve years later...
good thing those Iranians didn't fall to communism...instead they fell for something worse...
The crazy world we live in: One bad coup/regime change & your ally now could be your enemy tomorrow...
@@creoleDJexactly….Iran, China, and Russia have all been out allies to some extent

That was my guess before I read your comment - a turboprop modified T-28. Thanks I'm going to have to read up about that.
Was wondering. It was cool looking.

It didn't hurt the enlisted persons career.
Trying to imagine how the narration would’ve been if the GoPro was out then! 😂😂
I can recommend some outstanding books if anyone is interested.
Please do so.

Well made film!
Geez, the United States had more groups and agencies with all kinds of names and monikers. It’s no wonder anything gets done at all.
Air Commandos term still used today.

Does anyone remember C B Colby books? They were books about weapons and the different armies we have.
