I think blood bursting bandits are more effective because they can't kill you while you're healing from the damage. Increased npc spawns lead to more xp per hour, as does persistent aggro if you wear certain god items such as Saradomin's blessing. On higher levels, I was able to get 200k magic xp per hour using this method on 90s magic. To keep your account active in game, enter only one input every twenty minutes, or leave something on your keyboard that counts as ingame input, such as the arrow keys to spin the camera.

Did you consider alting NMZ with multiple accounts to increase spawns? Iirc the spawn limit is 5 in a solo and like 9 or something with at least one other player? Can't remember exactly. You could have 2 alts dancing in the corner to help with NPC stacking, or even just multi barraging / chinning to train multiple alts at once.
So the max hit of the monsters attacking you is calculated as a 1 and it only takes one away from your absorption potion stacks. just guarantees more afk time until you need to drink some absorption pots again
Harmo orb best spells and tome is already 140k XPH on ancestral, nothing new. Smoke barraging might be a good cheaper alternative since lower level and chaper gear, also cheaper spell.
You could also blood burst desert bandits idk the total cost per hour but its completely afk at around 120k-140k xp per hour with a minimal set up of runes male ward mystic set and a ancient staff with a occult neckles with a unholy or holy blessing for the bandits to agro

Basically, math. The npcs magic levels are 1, yours is much higher, their magic defence is also 0, so basically even in ‘tank gear’ you still have an extremely high hit chance. I’m pretty sure there are numerous guides out there to fill each niche; I don’t really want to recreate guides already made unless I can add something new 🤷♀️
I'm unsure if you are new to the game, so, sorry if this comes off preachy. High alch, splash, teleport spam, or just do your quests for early game. Active training in the beginning for Mage and Range can be tedious. Lack funds? Run Guardians for runes. NMZ requires iirc 3 quests to even start training anyways. So you already have 3 mobs ready by time you do NMZ. Most of the NMZ training guides are for late mid game to end game training. The only 2 quests the Nairy listed that are "hard" are Lunar and Desert Treasure. The others are early game quests. But by the time you get to Desert Treasure, you will have a sufficient mage level to do this anyway. Quests, though boring, are the best way to actively not train your skills. As Nairy said, there are also other very viable content creators that offer options for beginners to early game training, such as Kaoz and Theoatrix, as well as AsukaYen. Alternatively, Just scale down whatever magic spell you have access to and work up. Active mage training will always be Ice spells since they offer the best xp results. Set a goal for yourself when you first start a character. Alot of players set RFD completion as their first early game goal as the requirements for that are insanely large and knocks out multiple checklists along the way. Maybe even set an early goal of completing all free quests, Dragon slayer is the only hard one out of all of the free quests. For myself, I ALWAYS utilize the OSRS Wiki as it has the biggest help guide in the form of an Optimal Quest Guide list that minimizes active skill training by just solely doing quests with most required quest skills maxing out in the 60s.
