Brings back memories! As a kid, early sixties, would go camping on Lake Mojave. Would load the camping gear in our boat, put in at Katherine Landing, find a place along the shore up-lake. Probably can't do that anymore. That road on top of the dam used to be the highway. Knew we were almost there going across the dam. Fun times.
I really enjoyed you showing The dam. It sure isnt like it used to be back in the 50s when we live there. Dad was an operator and there used to be self guided tours. You could go right down on the generator floor and the operating room was glassed in and you could see the operators in there operating the power house, I was neat to be able to go in there. They got it all blocked off now I see where you went up to the fence. Was like old home week lol we moved from there around 63 I was still in high school. Thanks again was neat.
My mother inlaw lives in Golden Valley. I've driven 68 to Bullhead many times. I've even went fishing right where you are at the dam. Looking to retire in Fort Mohave by Bullhead
My favorite RVer...always enjoy the journeys you take us on & the wonderful scenery & experiences you share with us. We especially appreciate it as we're sheltering in place so dear sweet hubby is protected from this nasty virus. He's battled multiple health issues & is winning. But don't want him to have to fight this 1 on top of all the others. Can't wait for your revisit to Chloride. Davis Dam's not mentioned much, but it sure has beautiful blue water. Hoover gets all the PR, but Dept of Interior needs to spread the glory around to the other dams, like this 1. Just think what the West, AZ, NV, & CA would be like without all that water. Lake Mead is really really low, but around Davis the lake's looking ok.
Russ, we are currently hunkered down in Davis Camp below the dam. Really appreciate your latest videos from the surrounding areas. Will be visiting the places you have discovered.
Had a lot of fun down there in the 60's! There was a spot off the road to the dam where you could drive down to the lake, good swimming area in those days!
Good morning Russ. Thank you so much. I lived in Az for a long time in the 80s and 90s. I love it. Happy to visit it through your travels. Thanks again.
Thank you so much for this video. It snowed here yesterday and it is cold now. This video almost makes me feel warmer, looking at all the green, the desert scenery and the gorgeous blue water.
it's weird you dont have more followers. you have a very pleasant speaking voice and you actually go places and provide real content. where as most of the other rv'ers sit around eating burritos and call it content.
That's a wonderful drive down into Bullhead City then across the Colorado into Laughlin NV. I make the same drive from my winter digs in Surprise AZ except this year stuck in WA state cos of virus. Never seen so little traffic on 93.
Russ, so peaceful to watch your videos while you narrate. Just seeing open roads & nature feels good, even the bird on the pole is cute (at dam). I felt grouchy last night & same waking up. I'm not usually like that, just kind of scary times. Thanks for sharing local videos!
russ it was me that told u to go to lake mohave i used to live in bullhead in winter months ck out this russ Kofa National Wildlife Refuge looks nice rob love your videos
This video reminded me of the first time I came through Golden Valley in 1990, where all the bridges are over the washes are they were not the just low water crossings.
Good tour of the dam. Impressive! I didn't go there when I went to Lake Mohave, but I will next time. Up the road is a good place to launch a kayak and get the remote feel of the desert.
🙋♀️Hello Russ! I tried to view live last night, it kept buffering on me. Then chat was disabled then no opportunity to submit a comment below. I got as far as seeing you hold up a cup, but not how it changed colors, that's when I could not hear or watch anymore. You were frozen in place. Seems better to take the back roads, scenic, yet quicker, no traffic. The bridge Named The Most Beautiful Steel Bridge in 1951. Who would have thought 69 years later there would be no traffic? I loved seeing Davis Dam. I hope who ever is in charge of the storyboard can fix the faded one. I love reading them. So informative. Colorado River goes through Nebraska? California touches it? What a wonderful day for a ride! Thank you so very much!
If you have a boat and launch it at Davis Dam you can cruise up to Hoover Dam. Beautiful coves depth finder on my friends boat said 325ft . You could see the bottom!
Well Rush that was an awesome ride I had no clue about the Davis Dam I knew it was there but I had never been to it man that looks like a great fishing spot take the motor home and just sit there a day or two why everything is dead like it is and do a little fishing thank you for getting out and doing the Saints I live in California we are on total lockdown you move you might go to jail don't want that we just watch you stay safe till next time tell tomorrow
Russ, as I’m cooped up inside going along with you is the only way I am getting my Vitamin D under the sun, it seems you’re helping us in fight against the Virus. By the way great live streaming yesterday, we’re getting International, people all over the globe are tuning in. Three cheers fro Russ Hip hip hooray!
Thanks for keeping us entertained during this time of isolation. We live in Florida and are hoping to take an extended trip out west next spring and summer in our rv. Hope this virus is well behind us by then. Thanks again.😷👍
I'd be a bit leery of what may be on top of a pizza purchased in a place called Grass Hopper Junction. The high desert really is nice all greened out, before the truly hot weather sets in. Thanks for the tour, Russ; much nicer day than the one here with its rain and high winds.
Years ago, that was the only way to get to Nevada, other than crossing Hoover Dam. As you approach Laughlin, on the right is a little group of houses, that is where the workers used to live that worked at Davis Dam. In the mid 60s, a family that went to our church in Kingman lived in that group of houses. They had two boys about my age. During one visit, their father (who managed the dam) took us on a tour inside the dam. All I remember is that he was tall and very nice and that Dam is very large inside and somewhat dark. Think they used to do tours in the 70s maybe up until 911.
Thx for posting >. You are close to us in Vegas here... What? Just because Vegas Valley covered with buildings, hardly any free open desert, you went other way?? lolol .. kidding.. Wait! did you help build? construction lie part of our family..
Good morning Russ. Thank you so much. I lived in Az for a long time in the 80s and 90s. I love it. Happy to visit it through your travels. Thanks again.
I remember jumping off right there back in the late 80's, early 90's. Loved fishing from that spot as well
I lived in Las Vegas for a few years for my job. This view was my escape from the noise. Thanks for the beautiful video.

That whole valley use to be covered with golden poppies. That is how it got it's name

Good morning Russ. Thank you so much. I lived in Az for a long time in the 80s and 90s. I love it. Happy to visit it through your travels. Thanks again.
I spy......@16:13 a green plant with pretty white flowers on the bridge! 🌼🌼🌼🌼🌼
Thank you so much for this video. It snowed here yesterday and it is cold now. This video almost makes me feel warmer, looking at all the green, the desert scenery and the gorgeous blue water.
So much to see in that area. Enjoyed the video. Thanks for sharing.........
Absolutely a beautiful drive over the mountains and dropping down into Laughlin. The casino's at night all lit up. My favorite drive. Thanks Russ.
Love the videos. It lets my mind wander an fantasize of riding my bike through the desert when I retire.
Nice to see familiar places, we come here every year since 06/ jet skiing
The Great America Pizza Place that you passed has the best pizza I’ve ever had!
Thank you so much for the video Russ, I just retired and will move to this area this summer. Can't wait!!!
Mojave is my favorite place to boat during the summer. Can't believe how full it is. Thank you for the video! Love your channel.

👍👍 Thanks, and nice wheels, I just noticed it today. Looks real good on your van.
Been watching for a while. Enjoy your videos. I find myself humming your musical theme. Be safe.
Thanks for the ride Russ. Just what we needed for a Monday morning and start of the week. Cheers!!!

I think it might be that annoying chuckle
Good morning, Russ. Thanks for the ride. Great spot!

Thanks Russ for the video. Left Arizona for home. Snow here in CO. Waiting out this virus for now. Stay safe Russ.
Memories, mid late sixties used to swim on Nevada side to some tall hills and dive from the highest cliffs, about a mile from dam.
Russ, so peaceful to watch your videos while you narrate. Just seeing open roads & nature feels good, even the bird on the pole is cute (at dam). I felt grouchy last night & same waking up. I'm not usually like that, just kind of scary times. Thanks for sharing local videos!

What I would do to be driving through the desert right now. We got almost a foot of snow here in Minneapolis Minnesota yesterday 😬
Thanks Man!
What a beautiful day.
We fish here .caught some
I wish i could travel like you oh well maybe in my next life you are living the dream
That's an interesting dam design. It took a lot of work to conquer The Mighty Colorado.
This video reminded me of the first time I came through Golden Valley in 1990, where all the bridges are over the washes are they were not the just low water crossings.

Good morning Russ!
Thanks for letting me ride along shot gun. They have the Colorado dammed up in a few places!
Well Russ I must say another Dam fine video!
That lake area was beautiful!
👍😉. Built 1942-1952.
Fantastic Russ, never knew there was so much to see out there in the desert.

My family love you Russ ‘ go for it 💚
Nice road trip
Telephone Cove is a nice place to camp. It is located just up the mountain, from Laughlin. It's a little rough getting a Class A in there.
Thanks for ride.
THX, RUSS!
Congrats Russ....on 35K subs.

Last time I was on Lake Mojave and Mead wind really blowing.
Awsome Video love ur channel it beautiful overthere
Thanks Russ!
Beautiful.
The place is so packed with out of towners that us locals get pushed out. I moved here for the lake and seldom get to use it.

Nice video. Just a side note but those mountains you see in the distance coming over the pass are in California.
I just spent the day at Lake Mohave on the Nevada side
You didn't have a fishing pole?
The original owners of Grasshopper Junction were murdered in their home. It sat vacant for years, glad to see someone is not occupying it.
Video idea...the new Las Vegas Raiders stadium that should be opening this fall if the virus will let us watch football this year.
😎 Russ nice views😊
great video man.
Russ is lake mohave still open? I know lake mead is closed.
Could you show us Tucson mountain park . Go through Phoenix and Marana then Tucson . Many travelers talk about Tucson Never get there .
Van sounds good, how does it handle the down grade? In your travels have you ever been from Pueblo,Co to Albuquerque, NM Traveling US 50 TO us 550?
If you go down on the spillway side of the dam there is Indian writings on the rocks

I'm curious what you use for a microphone?
Rode Mics
@@rvertv Ah great thanks, I was actually looking into getting one for my Panasonic G85.
It would be nice if someone would have date stamps on the videos also, wouldn't it be good on tv shows also
Have you ever been to Hoolbrok
Russ, can you tell me the general area where you live? I'm looking for a house like yours in this area. Bullhead City.
Kewl
Theres a better pull out2 miles up right up at the top of Union Pass
No drones!! Security risk! Oooooh!
I hear that lots of these dams are being pulled out by the Fish and Game Folk.
Thx for posting >. You are close to us in Vegas here... What? Just because Vegas Valley covered with buildings, hardly any free open desert, you went other way?? lolol .. kidding.. Wait! did you help build? construction lie part of our family..
I used to live in this desert wasteland, fuckin' hotter than hell in the summer and the winters were just windy and nasty. Yuck!
Hi Russ ‘ do you have kids & wife ? I just wonder ‘ like you soooo much ‘ keep going
most of that mountain was andersite mineral no value lol
Good morning Russ. Thank you so much. I lived in Az for a long time in the 80s and 90s. I love it. Happy to visit it through your travels. Thanks again.
