- Hello everyone! In this image I show you how you can capture impressive astrophotography Milky Way images using Pentax Astrotracer capabilities.
These images were taken with a Pentax K-S2 and a O-GPS1 unit along with the 18-55mm f/3.5-5.6 kit lens, even stopped down to f/4.5.
Please enjoy!

Well. You could take that photo IN Jasper without light pollution now...
Jokes aside, this has been a super useful video and I just picked up my own o-gps1 for my K50!
Hey Alberta boy great video I am as well North of Edmonton
Thanks for this video! I really need to get one of those GPS modules!
Stephen, your info was a gold mine. I shot the core of Milky Way on May 24 and 25, 2023 in the Big Bend National Park in Texas. K-70 with O-GPS2, 90 sec, ISO 1600, f3.5 @18mm with the Pentax DA 18-135mm ED AL [IF] DC WR lens. The first shot was immaculate! The numbers are right on! THANKS!
So glad you found it useful :)
Wonderful shot! Great video!
That's a very helpful video. I've tried using the astrotracer but really struggled with the calibration on my K3-II.
Great intro to shooting stars! keep up the great work!
Thanks for the vídeo. Good work. I saved it for reference.
Thanks man!
I was wondering if I could do anything with my K-S1, now I know I can so will give it a go by purchasing the GPS unit
Cool, I played with one during a astronomy trip in Mexico a few years ago. The sky looked awesome but I didn't like how it blurred the trees in the foreground
A little extra work, but did you consider making it a composite since your foreground is motion-blurred. You could expose for the foreground as long as you want, the trees may move a bit but your rocks should look crisper and less noisy. Though may you did on that image toward the end.
wow
Hi Eric nice demo thanks can you kindly let me know how exactly the GPS work am totally confused does it guide you to where the stars are or it will calculate the exposure? you said you used 90 seconds where us max exposure from cam 30 seconds does that mean you used B and counted 90 seconds? am confused.
Does the GPS module automatically add the Lat+Long to the image metadata or did you manually add it?
The GOS module adds it!
What if you are using Astrotracer on a GoTo mount? Does the dual movements conflict and mess up the images?
