MASTERFUL in many ways sir. Thanks! For those watching that haven't heard his books on Audible, give them a listen. They're narrated by him and are absolutely brilliant. If you happen to read this captain, a how-to book on sailing/passage making would be most welcome!! You certainly have a knack for instruction.
"Introduction to Sailing" audiobook publication date April 1, 2022.
@@ChristianWilliamsYachting Ahoy Cap! I can't wait!! Thanks and best wishes.
Modified saying " A bad day of sailing beats the best day of work" thanks for the videos
As a Jazz musician and my love for ocean is endless ,enjoying your videos tremendously ,thank you
Selling my house, all my assets, buying a sailboat. Thanks for direction.
Hell yes
Yes. Helllll yes.
Me too. And hell yeah I'm serious!
Selling everything and buying his audio book..
problem is, the interest on a sailboat loan is WAY higher than on a house loan, not even close to pulling something like that off :/
also a sailboat that would fit my family (5 people) is more expensive than a house
Loves me some Thelonius...😊
Capt Williams... delightful! You've won RUclips for Friday April 10, 2020.
Thanks for playing!
Exactly - thank you @Christian Williams for the best remedy, that takes off the corona edge - so far... way better, than rum with tonic!
Thanks Christian for this beautiful Easter gift to all sailors. Riding the waves on Thelonius Monk at the piano is a great combination.
Thank you for taking us along. For a moment, I left all the worries behind and just enjoyed the trip. And listening to Monk! Be well!
I wasn't aware I needed this until that first note.
Thank you sir, your next 20 hits will most likely be me on replay.
Nicely done, bordering on perfection, I love it
Christian, thank you for the comforting respite. The music and motion of the sea have encouraged me to break my sheltering binds and venture onto the SFBay this weekend for a sail. I’m sure I’d be equally enthralled by what’s written in your log book. Safe and fulfilling sailing!
the san francisco marina at chrissy field is blocked off.
Thelonious accompaniment ... perfect. And have enjoyed your 2 book audibles as much
Looks bliss as I sit in my garden in Scotland. Enjoy the sail.
Just perfect. Thank you.
Sweetness...oh peaceful sweetness
what a great idea for a lockdown !! clear horizon, gentle breeze and jazz !!! Cheers ....from Galicia !! ( sorry forgot the spaguetty !!! ... and spaguetty )
I love thelonius monk, and have always wanted to go sailing. sadly my crumbling body would never allow this now. But thanks so much for giving me the chance to sail along with you.
I must go down to the seas again, to the lonely sea and the sky,
And all I ask is a tall ship and a star to steer her by,
And the wheel’s kick and the wind’s song and the white sail’s shaking,
And a grey mist on the sea’s face, and a grey dawn breaking.
I must go down to the seas again, for the call of the running tide
Is a wild call and a clear call that may not be denied;
And all I ask is a windy day with the white clouds flying,
And the flung spray and the blown spume, and the sea-gulls crying.
I must go down to the seas again, to the vagrant gypsy life,
To the gull’s way and the whale’s way where the wind’s like a whetted knife;
And all I ask is a merry yarn from a laughing fellow-rover,
And quiet sleep and a sweet dream when the long trick’s over.
Thank You Sir ! I always Enjoy Seeing She Under Sail ! ;)
With the virus, we sail less in Hong Kong and some races have been cancelled as well. When I can’t sail weekly, watching your show makes me happy. A while back, when I was out of work, your shows and wisdom gave me perspective and assurance that all will be right in the end. Thank you, and sail on!
A downwind sail at sunset with Thelonius. What could be better. Neat trick slicing onions with a rigger's knife. Hope no one got sick after dinner. Thanks for the relaxing respite.
Well done. Thanks a million ...
Awesome, I really enjoyed that. The music is terrific. It looked like really pleasant sailing.
Christian, many thanks. I asked my 12yo son where he heard about the kicking strap ? he said Christian Williams said that this is how the queen of England would call it..... He is 12. we will remember you the next 50-60-70-80 years. thanks for all the videos.
Always a nice video and beautiful pictures 👍
Bravo sir, bravo! More like this if possible. Coffee for the soul.
Ride captain ride upon your mystery ship, to a place others may have missed....
lovely. thank you.
Thanks again Captain Christian for another late night enjoying your sailing adventure. The music is great. You and Thelonious Monk, a fantastic combination.
Thank you sir for this much needed relaxing sense of being on deck with you. Your generosity and kindness are felt here in New York City - from a lost sailor __/)__~
Exactly the kind of sailing video I've been looking for. Thank you!
Thanks Christian, I'm in Vermont it's raining 2.22.22, 32 degrees and losing our snow pack quick. More to come though, after this thaw...CLIMATE CRISIS strikes again!.
If you ever sail up to Vermont I would love to day sail with you on Lake Champlain, let me know! I've got experience sailing a Hobie 16'er but that was exhilarating as heck. Hiking out in the trapeze line and flying a hull is sheer heaven, only if I don't go too far and capsize.
Safe sailing, Mark
Due to the lockdown I am not busy. I watched beginning to end. I am on a SV of sorts, my living room, my in-home office, my kitchen. The scenery does not change much. Because of my age no one comes in. Family calls frequently, kids leave packages on the doorstep. I take my BMW motorcycle for spins in the country. The bike has a 160 hp engine which is like a middle school boy with a serious case of ADHD. Though it gets me out and relaxes me some it has a kinetic level of energy that doesn't lend itself to smooth jazz. My horizon on my little "house boat" is my fences and mature upper midwest species of hardwood trees. For 35 minutes and forty-four seconds my horizon became endless, the Pacific Ocean. Gliding along with you was well worth my time investment. Thelonious is a wonderful dream machine and Thelonious Monk an artist supreme. Thank you for taking the time to put this montage of sailing experinece together for me. I had time. I will get busy again at some point in the future. When I do...I'll take the time to watch it again. Be ever so cautious now on land. You and I are in the Covid19 bullseye. I so want to see another trip to Hawaii or even day sails with your friends and family.
I love your lifestyle…the best video for me.Thank you! UW
I researched Mr. Williams. Quite an accomplished man! Such a rich and seemingly fulfilling life...peaceful, contemplative and assuring. Thoroughly enjoying your videos Sir!
she love to sail ! :)
so relaxing ..thankx
Great soundtrack for sailing Thelonious ll, one of my favorite keyboardist.
Wonderful sailing + perfect playlist! C'est un pur plaisir, merci! I let it go again and again. And later tonight, while lying in bed, I will savor another chapter of "Philosophy of sailing". Mission accomplished! A perfect evening in quarantine.
Nice and gentle water under the keel. Hours enjoying Mother Nature's beauty for free.
Greetings from Berlin, Germany and thank you for the generous gift! 🥰
Christian: You have outdone yourself with this one. FABULOUS!
Beautiful!
Thank you. I needed this. It's presently snowing where we are along the Maine coastline (around 44 degrees, 37' N) and this weather keeps me from working on my new sailboat (presently under construction outside). It may be a few more weeks before I can unwrap the hull and get busy again.
Love Maine and miss New England. Enjoy the snow and even colder Water.
@@olivei2484 😂😂 I'm more in agreement with the TV ad: "It's better in the Bahamas."😁
I owned a 33' Yawl and always enjoyed going forward and standing at the bow looking aft while under sail. Incredible feeling.
Much appreciated!
Man, I really love this. The art of sailing with music and no talking is quite peaceful and a masterpiece on its own. Great job putting this together. Overall it was quite enjoyable and wished I had someone like you to teach me the art of sailing. Your family is lucky to have you and your expertise. Wished I had an uncle like you. I’ll be dreaming of sailing and jazz tonight:-)
Bravo maestro!
Wow the spagetti part was wonderful
Damn sir, I feel better already. Cheers! :-)
can I push this rope through this eyelet? I'm a frayed knot... I'll see myself out...
:)
C-19 has many of us New England sailors stranded on the hard and impatienty waiting for a delayed splash date. Thanks for sharing a bit of vicarious downwind time with the land bound...
I'm speechless. Thank you.
One of the greatest Kings of Jazz
Thanks for getting us out there even if it’s just a virtual way
Thanks for this, i shared it with the Sailaway Community. Alot of sailors that can't Sail atm are using this Simulator..
this made me happy
I need more videos like this one, sharing so much of a journey in the sea, peaceful and magnificent
FINALLY! A sailor who knows how to TRIM HIS SAILS PROPERLY in a RUclips video. I'm especially impressed by the nice flat reefed main and jib. I learned to sail as a child in the 1970s from my grandmother who learned to sail, well, in the age of sail! She was born in the early 1900s, and learned to sail as a child back east in Long Island.
The first thing I learned was how to steer using a tiller and "shoot a mooring" under sail, because her boat, a Rhodes 19, was engineless. The second thing I learned was how to trim a sail properly (she was a racer). To her, even the hint of luffing in a headsail was an unpardonable SIN. She would always point out the boats with well trimmed sails with admiration, and had disdain for any careless skippers who allowed luffs to wrinkle, or leeches to flog.
It's maddening to see young crews sailing across oceans without a clue about sail trim. It's especially frustrating to watch them and their boats struggle though storms with flogging baggy "reefed" mains. The problem is always the same - not enough tension on the clew due to an improper lead angle on the down-haul, so the foot of the sail rises off the boom.
Your sails look great - nice and flat. Well done!
Excellent video.
How are you doing Weiner.
watching you sail reminds me of fishing with my grandpa in San Fransico bay as a teen.
Thanks, Christian! Love the vibes here, especially when 'Round Midnight started playing. There's just something special about being alone in the middle of the ocean at night.
Good to see your doing well
I think you're (one of) the best spaghetti's cooker in LA. And I love that.
Ciao, Carlo
Amazing! it was a feast for my eyes. Thank you very much, that is what I needed this morning
Thank you for sharing your memories Christian... you`ve no doubt earned the treasure trove that you can draw upon. Maybe in this un-scheduled vacation , as a society, we can reflect enough to realize that our memories are all we get to keep... the rest is just circumstantial. Godspeed, may the winds be in your favor.
Santa Monica is my favorite place in the whole world. When I would walk along the park my eyes poured over the ocean. Seeing majestic sunsets was the highlight. It cast a fiery river of orange over the sea as it went down and filled the whole sky with a buzzing orange light that faded to reds and pinks. I remember seeing Sailboats in the distance. I often wondered what they were up too; or who the hell was out there having such a damn good time without me! I may have seen you Christian sailing peacefully on a peaceful day. Thank you so much for taking us all along sailing with you. It seems like a break from the real world. You have wisdom pouring out of you and it's fun to catch them as your videos play on. Love the stuff keep it coming!
I could listen/watch this video on an endless loop.
Just right-click on the RUclips screen.
So much better than watching the news. Thank you! Now off to reread your book
Delightful..
It all works, thanks again.
Your music selection alone is worth the subscription.
Thanks Christian, I do enjoy sailing with you as I cruise in my armchair....I actually got rocked to sleep. Cheers.
Great skill cooking under way. There is nothing better than a dish of spaghetti (DeCecco, the best) on the cockpit with a nice evening.
Fair wind Chris...
I am waiting for next weekend to go to my sailboat to start to getting ready for the season.
From the Chesapeake bay md.
Great toons and soothing video and what looked like a good meal thanks for taking me with.
It brought viewers ’memories to your trip videos that were previously recorded.
Well done sir.

Thankyou your video with music is just we needed in palmbeach today!
Love your taste in music! Love the gimbaled camera shots in the cabin at night. You got it made! Solo sailing on the wide open seas! 👍
Fabulous! Thank you.
Thank you and stay safe. Cheers from Oz
Thank you very much for your wonderful videos. I am 65 and have gotten bitten by the sailing bug (I served 6 years in the Navy and have loved the sea since). Still doing my search for a boat, unfortunately this Covid-19 has taken a toll on my savings and put away money from my freelance photography. But I built it up once, I will do it again. I just wanted to say thank you, you have renewed my drive and desire to join you and all the others on the sea. Fair winds to you, hope to meet you one day.
Hearing actual sounds from the ocean and boat would have been great :c
Similar version, ambient audio only: ruclips.net/video/XHuMtkYb4c4/видео.html
Love the camera on the gimble!!
I was very interested in the cooking segment. I guess I've just taken a non-listing kitchen for granted all these years. Cheers!
Loved it. As much as I love Monk, this would have been even better for me with only the sound of the water and the creaking of the boat. But a much needed step back out on the water at a time when I sorely need it. Thank you.
What I wouldn't give to do this. I do not come close to your knowledge and experience of sailing and I know how important both are to do what you are doing. And of course you have made it so much fun and so interesting. The wheels are turning.
Just what the doctor ordered. Great music, which I now appreciate thanks to you, and perfect background visuals. There will be a specific few of us who really welcome your latest creation and really needed an escape like this. Thanks
Wonderful joyful video thank you for making me smile on this lockdown day in the U.K. Day Dreaming about sailing our yacht Clemency along the Devon and Cornwall coastline. Thank you 👍🏻
Brought back memories of sailing on SF Bay in my Catalina 22. Usually had some nice jazz tracks playing on the cassette deck - perfect! Thanks Christian, for these wonderful videos!
Very good news you come back
I dig this.
my two most favorite things! Endless sailing and Thelonious Monk
This video has everything.
Best sailing channel on You Tube
Nice!
Sweet....Thanks....My kind of music....At last....Well OK then,it's my bed time....Sitting here alone in a two story house....It's been a ride....Looks like l am just about ready to ride off into the sun set...!
Love this video, just what we need now
Your boat is so clean, I feel shamed. Watching this boarded up from the rain in my messy Tartan 30 (and smoking Nightcap)
amazing video
Therapeutic in these troubled times. Keep pumping them out!
Breathtakingly peaceful, Sir! Again. Every single one of your videos brings the sensation of calm - even when you’re fighting the torrents of Mother Nature. This one? Simply perfect .
fantastic to watch a sailing video without having to turn off the sound due to terrible music :D just wonderful
