And unless Trump moves away from Florida it would be necessary to keep DeSantis there simply because the Constitution does not allow president and vice president to be from the same state. That is why when Dick Cheney was picked in 2000 he had to change his residency back to Wyoming from Texas before it was official because when he was CEO at Halliburton he was residing down in Texas.

What it prevents is Electoral College electors in that state from voting for two people from their state. Of course, in the case of Florida, no one is going to risk losing those electoral votes.
