Whoa I’ve known about you for two Years or more now, through TikTok, and all of your poetry, dating and life advice I’ve had mini Australian shepherds for 3 years and to randomly stumble onto this video and see you is line cool I genuinely love your stuff hope you’re doing well and thank you endlessly for being a very big help through my last heartbreak you helped connect a lot of dots that’s I couldn’t quite get on my own!
Hey Joey! I love hydrating their kibble with warm water and letting it that sit for 5-10 minutes, or using beef bone broth to rehydrate it (it’s great for their joints and for digestion). I like the Honest Kitchen broth powders!
My mini Aussie had a lot of digestive issues when he was a pup. We started giving him pumpkin puree & it has helped him so much. I also added bee pollen to help with his allergies, blueberries, & actually sardines (in water, NOT in oil) & he's obsessed with it. I have never thought to add quail eggs, will definitely try!!
I really appreciate your videos, I'm looking into getting a mini aussie and your content is a fantastic guide on how to keep these dogs happy and healthy :)
we give our mini Aussie actual salmon 1x a week when we have it for dinner. we set aside enough to give her as treats over a few days. she loves it! also scrambled egg as well
If my mini Aussies have stomach or digestive issues, Slippery Elm does a great job of settling things down. We also throw a small amount of pumpkin in their food too, along with Mercola Probiotics for dogs. We have our own chickens here, so ours get chicken eggs a few days a week. Aside from the extras, they do a complete raw diet.
We use Honest Kitchen Whole Grain Kibble and sprinkle a bit of Ziwi Peak kibble on it. The dogs LOVE the Ziwi Peak (we also use the Ziwi kibble for treats). We supplement with a variety of human-grade meats. We'll often put chicken and broth in a kong and freeze it. That keeps them occupied for 30min+.
We use raw rabbit patties from BJs Raw due to allergies. Barkley likes them best seared....with pink inside and cooked outside. Place on top of Dr Harvey's Paradigm...which is a Keto veggie mix. RX biotic and tiny bit of oil since he's only 18 pounds. We have a list of supplements from a canine nutritionist but sometimes less is more for him. She uses Iherb. Love those pups!
My dog loves freeze dried stuff, we recently got him a type of freeze dried raw food and kibble we boil it in some water or broth for about 10min or let it soak overnight in the fridge and warm up in the morning. Freeze dried beef liver cubes are a fav, we grind them into a powder or rub them against each other over his food and he goes nuts for it, bone broths are also good, just make sure there's nothing in there since almost all store bought ones have onion powder or salt. Kefir is another favorite, we use a goat version of it since our dog has an intolerance to most cow products, here you can either get a kefir goat yogurt or a kefir goat milk. My dog really loves it as a treat over his food every other day or when he's having some tummy issues.
Ahyoka Star is partly raw fed, with ground beef, heart, liver, unwashed green tripe, and bone. Chicken paw, raw chicken egg, and a homemade cooked food, with sweet potato, carrots, beets, kale, spinach, celery, chicken liver, chicken hearts and gizzard, ground pork, mackerel, salmon, ground flaxseed, quinoa, brown rice and oats. I'll also add green beans and other things that are on hand, like blueberries and such. It's cooked and mixed up and the oats and rice with 3 whole eggs bind it together. Ahyoka Star loves it.
I feel like an alchemist when I prepare my dog's food LOL Potion's master? Herbalist? It's wild. 😂 I buy my dog's raw in bulk off of MyPetCarnivore, including pre-ground whole prey. So much cheaper! My dog's dinner tonight consisted of whole ground beaver, whole ground herring, a scoop of green goat tripe, some soaked chia seeds, scoop wheatgrass powder, 2 drops of vitamin E, a scoop of moringa, a pump of salmon oil and a smidge of kelp flakes. Like I said... alchemy!
Good video - would love to get a full video on your dogs total exercise in a day. I have a 2 yr old mini aussie, I take on 4+ walks a day and dog park once a day and she still wines constantly at my desk while I work to play. Thoughts?
@@loganhein9808 Mental enrichment is very important and often tries dogs quicker. Do you have any videos for healthy joints products for aussies? Would love to see that added to their food ! I have one myself and trying to start to put them on a cleaner and benefiting diet!
I have 3 doggos: 2 standard Aussies and a Toller. The Aussies get a blend of raw and kibble; the Toller gets just raw patties. But the total game changer for them was when I started adding raw duck feet to their bowls. Super cronch, which they love, and it's getting a lot of tartar and plaque off their teeth.
Do you think chicken feet, I raise my own, would work if I declaw them first? Maybe boil them or dehydrate them? I have a 7 week old that is new to the homestead.
I feed my golden doodles Ground Chicken or Turkey (I like to switch it up), pumpkin purée, coconut oil, sweet potatoes, brown rice, spinach, carrots, green beans, peas, beef liver, eggshell powder, turmeric powder. I steam this all in an insta-pot, mix it together with some water, and I add this in with Purina pro plan dry dog food. My golden doodles absolutely love it! For treats they get fresh produce (in moderation); blueberries, carrots, apples, celery, ect.
Mine gets Primal Pronto raw. For treats and if I need to travel I have some air dried raw alternative options ZIwi or Country Naturals RawTernative. I cycle through the different proteins for nutrition balance
First, you have such beautiful eyes! I can't help but see my son in you. Second, we are getting our mini aussie in November, and this video is perfect! We have I think most what we need, but i was terrified about food type. I know they can have very sensitive tummys. Thank you for all your insight!
I do raw patties as well and his kibbles mixed together but I switch it up at times and boil for him chicken heart and liver along with his kibbles I'm glad that I'm not the only one that feeds her dog raw patties and kibbles mixed My dog is half Aussie and half Labrador retriever but definitely took more of the Aussie very smart and energetic
Thank you, very interesting what you feed your dogs? I just started feeding a fresh cooked food from Just Food for Dogs since my 6 mo. old aussie has always hated kibble. She loves the fresh food and her poop is now formed, not mushy. Because she is a puppy, she eats chicken and rice plus veggies, but there are many other flavors.
We love your videos!! We've been feeding our mini who is now 14 months part kibble part homemade food for about 6 months now because he was just not interested in just the kibble. I used ground turkey or chicken (Blue prefers turkey). I pressure cook the turkey, brown rice. Then add cooked frozen veggies like green beans, carrots, corn and either sweet potato or 100% pumpkin puree. He goes nuts!!! And then I just toss in his probiotic, salmon oil and multivitamin bites into his morning meal 😋 Some of his treats are sweet potato crips, celery, blueberries, bananas, peanut butter, cooked egg... My husband says I feed Blue better than him 🤣
My girl, Nova (a gorgeous 70lbs Great Pyrenees, Husky, American Staffordshire Terrier mix), is a picky eater with a sensitive tummy. Right now, I've finally got her on food she likes, is good for her, and doesn't upset her tummy. She gets a cup of Wellness Complete Health chicken and brown rice for large breed dogs, ¼ of a can of American Journey grain-free stew, a tbs of salmon oil (I can never seem to find herring or whitefish oil, but American Journey has relatively inexpensive salmon oil), and a 10 in 1 multivitamin. She of gets add ins like chicken, burger meat (not seasoned of course), eggs, yogurt, and fruits & veggies.
We feed our mini Aussie puppy the Acana puppy food. Our previous dog (in my profile photo) lived a long healthy life on Acana food so we chose that for our puppy Leo.
I also do part kibble and part raw. I soak the kibble in water, since I swear my pup likes the kibble but doesn't like the dryness of it, he's always smacking his lips haha I add fish oil, I prefer using herring oil or other maybe less popular fish oils instead of salmon because it's a bit more environmentally friendly. I have also been starting to add some pumpkin/squash and other pureed fruits and veggies so that they can get the most nutrients out of them. Occasionally I've been adding some bone broth, but I don't regularly have it on hand. I want to try adding some plain kefir, for the probiotics to his food. I think it's fun to mix it up a little bit!
My border collie is EXTREMELY picky. We’ve settled on Stella and Chewy’s Freeze Dried Raw Patties, a combo of Chicken, Beef, and Surf & Turf Recipes. He also gets add ins depending on the day: pumpkin, coconut oil, flax, oatmeal, quinoa, honey, cooked chicken, cooked beef., goat’s milk, and a vitamin. He won’t eat anything raw except NY strip steak (lol), and hates peantbutter, any fresh fruit, or fresh veg. His favorite food is ANY cheese, but we use that for training important tasks and for agility.
Similar feeding here. After one other video and our groomer talking about our Aussie’s brittle hair introduced the same Herring oil. Just curious about beef bones…raw or parboiled? Also we feed twice a day, same with you? They get for dinner what they eat for breakfast? We freeze pumpkin, mashed beets, sweet potatoes as a noon treat. Always looking for new suggestions so thanks.
We feed our mini Purina Pro Plan Sensitive Skin & Stomach dry food topped with the same wet food because he has GI issues. He also gets 2 tablespoons of canned pumpkin a day and a whimzees brushees dental treat 😀
I love the quail egg! Such a good idea. Do you get them from superstore? My favourite supplement for my pup was to combat diarrhea or loose stool with a scoop of raw pumpkin (like you’d use for pumpkin pie). Firmed them right up and my dog loved the taste too.
Hey Joey and Frankie! I have vet experience and know a lot about dog nutrition. I would love to help you guys out if you don’t mind because I love the channel so much! Much love.
I am getting a standard Aussie in a month and I am still trying to decide what to feed him. I definitely want to feed pumpkin puree and eggs as well as a kibble and some raw but I havent decided on a type of kibble yet. I want a diet thats best for him that makes him feel and look great.
I give my dog GrandCru dehydrated food with powder goat milk on top, put some hot water, mixt and voilà! We also give her Valens dry kibble, cook eggs,
Hey there I have a question for you. I think my dog for Purina proplan and would like a list of what you feed your dog's because I think it will help my dog Elissa that is a miniature Australian shepherd

Maverick, on the other hand, eats his then will step to Frankie's bowl to kindly take the quail egg out of Frankie's way.

Great video! We feed our two a diet that is free of actual dog food to avoid all the recalls, they eat all human grade food. Breakfast is a few blueberries, some spinach or kale (I freeze it and then it just crumbles up in the bowl.) Mollie has a chicken allergy so she gets a duck egg, Kaycee gets two chicken eggs. Then we top with a spoonful of either cottage cheese or a sardine. We also mix in a probiotic and I save all the crushed eggshells, grind them into a powder and they get 1/2 teaspoon of that. Dinner is either ground beef or ground turkey, a bit of butternut squash, and green beans, I put either beef heart that is dried, or beef liver that is freeze dried and a little olive oil on it. It sounds complicated, but after doing it three years its not. I cook all the turkey or beef every two or three weeks in the instapot, then just freeze it in bags, take one out every 4 or 5 days. Same with the squash. I cook 2 of them at a time in the oven, cube it, and freeze in bags. They each get four cubes. The green beans are cooked too. They also get a couple of tablespoons of plain kiefer for their gut. I did a lot of research and the organ meat is really good for them but I couldn't hack cooking it so I found freeze dried on Amazon.
