Thanks for checking in. Sorry for the lack of videos in 2017. I'll do better in 2018 for sure!!!
All serious thanks for sharing these videos and great photography tips. Ever since first watching your Ecuador vlog I started saving money to visit specially Tandayapa. ( I visited twice in 2017). Do you still have any Ecuador field guides for sale?.
Wish you the best and good luck in 2018!
That book sold out. Maybe some Ecuador lodges have a few copies to sell. But I think they area ll gone.
Glenn Bartley Good problem to have your book soll out. Maybe an Ebook for the future?
Thanks!

Glad to see this is not a dead channel! Welcome back! Another eventful and enjoyable vlog, nice work, the music also compliments the whole video very well. However, I would also like to ask where you draw the line in terms of ethics in terms of wildlife photography? (Use of sounds, flash etc.) This has been a discussion I've been having with some of my pals and would like your opinion too. Would also love to know if your 600mm is the mark 1 and if so, would you recommend it?
Thanks for sharing Glenn ! Beautiful, stunning, awesome impressions and pictures. I am jealous:-) Keep those video blogs coming. You might just wanna get a wind stopper for your microphones, I use the Rode VideoMicro, tiny, lightweight, but effective... Happy new year and always good light!
Hey Glenn, thanks for sharing your experiences. Do you plan making a tutorial on how you use the eBird app in your photography? That would be quite helpful for me.
Great stuff as always Glen , but i think we are all going to pitch in and get you a descent mic !, nice to see you in my feed again :)
Awesome Glenn , love these vlogs. Do you camp on the whole trip?
Welcome back. Great pictures and it is possible to put iso, Aperture and Shutter speed somewhere in the pictures so other can learn the settings? Thanks👍
always enjoy your vids. Could you add what equipment you use during each trip or location?
Very nice and welcome back Glenn! I am also following you on Flickr, so I have seen a lot of your photos from this trip. One request is that it would be nice if you could add an ID to each of your photos so that we can know what bird we are looking at.

GLENN! omg its been TOO LONG!.
Hello Glenn - Nice to see you again . Fantastic Vlog this is . I was surprised that you did not use a better Beamer or magmod for the flash . Any reasons ? . Great to hear perspectives on using fill flash under low lights . Great fan of your post processing workflow and I do own your ebook . Keep these videos coming ! God bless
I do not use any kind of flash extender. I find them not necessary with the quality of batteries and better electronics of modern flashes. Unless you are really rapid firing off shots I see no point. Even then I would use an external battery pack over a beamer.
Glenn Bartley thanks much Glenn . Yes I do have a battery pack for continuous shooting and a better Beamer . I have a 7D2 and 600isII and was thinking if I can replace the better Beamer with Magmod . Better Beamer is too flimsy to carry around .
Hey you might want to get a zoom H1 digital recorder and dob over camera sound recording ,much of this video I can not hear...:) great shots !!!
Excellent video! One question, when you use the flash as a fill light, do you synchronize it at high speed or to what the camera allows? Sorry if you do not understand, I'm using the translator. Thank you!
Basically if the shutter speed needs to be over 1/250 then you need to use high speed sync. I pretty much always leave my flash in HSS mode.
Glenn Bartley Thank you very much for your answer! I hope your next video!
What gloves were you wearing that were three fingered and the pointer and thumb could be exposed? Thank you!
Those are from Valleret - www.glennbartley.com/naturephotography/articles/gear.htm#Accessories
Thanks Glenn!
Hey Glenn is that a new Binocular strap system? any chance you could d a review?
Yes I am now using the Cotton Carrier system. Love it.
Check it out here - www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/1297475-REG/cotton_carrier_923cbh_ccs_camera_harness.html/BI/7954/KBID/8450
Thanks!
Really enjoyed the excellent video of the birds but I can see some easy fixes to take it to the next level ... Sound ! I see so many videographers focused on the subject, gear, shots, but neglecting the sound. It's pretty much all over the place here and if you simply added a lavalier microphone it would be at a stable level (watch the in-car sound especially) and with greatly reduced wind noise. Such a cheap and easy fix !
Also more titled pics throughout the video (not all at the end) with settings wouldn't go amiss !
Want to come on an unpaid internship and be my sound guy?
@@GlennBartley Don't tempt me. I'm retired and would love to now I don't think I've got another Nepalese trip in my knees :D Still lots of hiking/camping days ahead though. However I'll be back to birding China again soon - would love to welcome you over there. There's awesome birding in Yunnan and Shichuan. Good luck !
Glenn, may I ask you a question? In other videos you have said that you record the call of birds and then play it back to try to attract them to your location. Can you say more about this or do a video on this technique? What equipment do you use to record a bird's call? Is there a way to send you and email or PM about this? Many thanks!! By the way, I love your videos.
Never mind: I found your email address and will try to reach you. I this would be a great video in itself!
happy crimbo dude
Great video but really let down by the quality of the audio.
Did you come across any penguins?
We did visit a King Penguin colony on Tierra del Fuego. Cool to see them!
Please canada bird me live in canada
Glenn, have you lost some weight?
Not over Christmas thats for sure. Too many cookies!!!
