    This explains why Ed is always looking for his keys and wanting to drive. He obviously loved driving and drove all across the country visiting family and friends. It's a bitter pill to swallow when you can no longer do the things you love. 🚘 Damn Dementia.

    Mate, your a rare breed. Non of this new generation would give a shit other then a few visits a month to a nursing home. Very few people will reverse the roll our parents did for us and return the favour and that's keeping them out of an abusive Nursing Home and at home where they belong! ❤

      That’s not true. There are still plenty of good people out there. I’d look after my mum if she ever lives to this age. My gran is 96 and she’s well looked after. I’ll make sure my mum is too :)

    • @Gracewins1974
      @Gracewins1974 8 месяцев назад +10

      So very true. I worked in one of the best nursing homes. A bit of advice to anyone putting their loved one in a nursing home. No matter how nice or expensive a nursing home is, most of the CNAs may seem nice, but when you aren’t there, they are playing on their cell phones, not answering call lights, letting residents sit in wet pants, so another aide spots it and cleans them up. I was an activity aide and would have to get on them and I would get eye rolls, etc. these young girls have no drive and most of them were working as a CNA while going for their RN degree. It was so sad. My advice would be to visit everyday!!

    • @Whoever68
      @Whoever68 8 месяцев назад +4

      I think your statement is only partly true. Not everyone has the ability to take care of their aging parents due to finances or not having close relationships with their parents. I was fortunate to be able to look after my mother with three children under five. Easy? Absolutely not but I had the support of a wonderful partner. Things got done when they got done and if they didn’t get done then they’d get done eventually. Despite how difficult it was I would do it again in a heartbeat to have her back. Financially I lost a lot because I was not able to work (I was in my thirties at the time) but I was lucky to not have a mortgage or other debts at the time.

I guess my dad never wanted me to meet him, maybe he was embarrassed of me😢

    I can imagine it’s so scary for him. He realizes every time they say 91 that he just “might” be 91! He throws 1932 out there to double check!!! I so appreciate Dan and Danielle sharing him with us. Grandpa is a true joy!

    His frustration really hearts my heart. I hate to see his confusion. My mother in law can get like this ,but when we Try to explain she can get very cross and thinks we are trying to say she is lying.

    Thank you for sharing your journey with caregiving for a loved one. My brother and I are going through similar with our parents. We’re both at home and in our early 30s. Both parents have multiple health problems and everyday it is hard. It’s hard to be patient and calm, but your videos have really helped me learn how to handle situations with them better. Life hasn’t turned out as I wanted, but it is the card dealt. You and Danielle are doing a great job and helping so many people. Many thanks for sharing.

Most impressive Dan your patient and very calm when dealing with difficult situations. It is impressive as you kindly show compassion and love each time. You and Danielle must take care and have quality time together seeing to your own needs when opportunity arises. Kindest regards from England

    I asked a friend how he managed his wife who asked the same question over and over. He said he answered it each time like it was the first time and would continue on that path. Your family is learning patience, empathy and more about love.
