Hi Juliet, I'm the girl that shouted 'love the vids' on the first climb...doubt you remember :D...i did the long route, you were right to do the short, the extra stuff around the penmancho area was brutal, forestry had left the entire width of the forest roads in a clay like mush and in lumps and mounds from their huge tires...oguhhh!!!

Hey stop beating yourself up for the equipment issues your video are inspirational and a real life look at these events, it's real content that you create which helped get me around a 100 mile route this weekend which I had no business finishing
We all have a day where it rains, the kit breaks, we ride through dog poop, or any number of other things. Those are the things that keep us on our toes. One bad day is just one bad day. You came in 2nd. There are X number of people who are looking up to you. You're good, keep going.
Dark days come 2us all, but usually the sunshine isn't too far away! Think you sharing this lack of confidence in yourself, will help others! knowing that even someone like yourself who generally seems to exude confidence, can also experience dark clouds, shows however different we are, we are more similar than we realise. Great post Juliet, and congratulations on the second place..attained whilst filming! If that doesn't put a smile on the whole day, I don't know what else would! Take care Juliet😊

Totally resonate with everything you said Juliet. Well done on coming second. Ageing isn’t anybody’s friend and When your identity is bound up with how you expect yourself to be able to continually perform, it’s incredibly difficult to come to terms with when reality and doing your best effort fall short of that ideal you. I battled with myself throughout my 40’s and was dogged with injury after injury that eventually forced me away from my love affair with cycling and into hiking. Nothing replaces the adrenaline high of cycling. Women’s hormones, nutrition and muscle and tendon ageing are far better understood now than they used to be. Acceptance of yourself and intelligently working with your body and supporting it as you age is something I’m sure you will make a much better job of than I did. Well Done again, great video and thanks for keeping it real.❤

We all have this chatter or rambling sh!t show mind attacks, so just let all those mind attacks or storms just pass by. They will trust me, and most of that monkey mind chatter isn't true. Follow your joy and everything will be just fine. Winning and losing are secondary matters to enjoying life and doing what you love to do. I can't imagine you being in a funk; you always seem to have such a positive attitude. That race in the dark without adequate lighting would've been too much for anyone. Anyway, it was good to see you get back to your normal self.
Juliet - pls don't let *outcome completely color your feelings about yourself. Obv. you can value whatever you like, but since you're not the only rider on the course, you cant *expect to always podium. Just _ride for yourself_ & let cycling be your outlet and not your competitive cross to bare.
Great Vlog, i think the hardest thing when performance driven is not be hard on yourself - its the biggest battle especially if coming back from ill health or injury. I always try and think what i can do today, whilst it might not be my best, is the best i can do on the day, and then be greatful that i can still do what i can do on the day and be out in nature, not everyone is that fortunate. Every day is a blessing, and at the end of the day i've come to realise its not time take to climb a mountain you remember, but the views from the top. Looked a great course, and a good effort - mini chedders, stuff of dreams. Hope you and kookaburra are bikepacking and have a good trip - should be funny will look forward to that one!!

That first section looked brutal. The guy walking his bike up the climb and you riding and going his walking pace. Normally the camera fails to capture the brutalness of a climb.
The longest intro ever 😂 Best to just get up & ride, I did my 2nd gravel event in rain again last weekend, once you're riding it doesn't matter & you don't regret it, stick to daylight racing 😜
Miss doing epic ride like this , probably cos the guys I ride with just like flat cafe rides ,need incentive to do more like this ,great race and glad you enjoyed the scenery
I had to nurse about 4 punctures and a heavily dented rim on this after getting carried away on the downhills. Well done on the 2nd place. It was an absolute savage of an event!
i need to be honest to you in this world of Fews to let u know u DONT suck , and its measured in many ways., Ive wanted you for a few years , I had not even noticed this . I say that to make the point as a black man from NY it was great to see a woman (there are not many of you who have a platform) Doing the longets rides ,climbing Huge hills, and Smiling the whole time. I saw your fight with weight loss (me too) So just because u don't Feel the BEST < YOUR Influence is Great and I'm proud to say that U can BE NOTHING LESS THEN GREAT
