I was Valstrax, and man I did not regret staying in this game, I mostly was looking around the map for important things to ping and I hope I got some contribution for this game. Thanks for the cast Gyle, that was an epic worthy of its name.
You did really well considering the situation. The only thing I could think of was asking for support from Tryth, since he seemed too focused on Terarii. And maybe starting with a few titans when reaching T3, since they are fast moving, fast firing and have a shield. Great for harassing superior numbers and buying time for the percys. I mean this as a constuctive comment, not to citicize you. Well played.
I think that behaviour should be standard. An extra pair of eyes to keep tabs on radar, flanking maneuvers, enemy construction projects or large massfields that are ripe for reclamation sounds valuable.
You certainly did. If Kavat of the enemy team was not so stupidly slow-reacting with his ASFs, it would not have made that much of a difference though. Kavat's air play lost Team 2 the game imo. Else the GCs would have come too far for Team 1 to bounce back like they did. Also, Kavat decided to just not destroy the most important structure of Team 2 wiith his GCs and Harbingers: Team 1s Airfield.
@Gyle , the UI mod "ui party" gives an overview of how many t1, t2 and t3 mex you currently have (even showing which ones are upgrading). Shows quite a lot of other stuff aswell, but you can disable that in the setting of the mod
50:00 Kavat misses an opportunity to gut the air grid. He had enough left in the field to force a dilemma on Tryth, and either way it probably would have resulted in crippling air production or water's attack might have reached the Dukes. After that point though, Team 2's land pushes, already attritional, were of increasingly dubious wisdom.
Kavat made one mistake after the other. Really frustrating to watch especially since his team mate did such a great job with pressuring his opponent north-east.
Lol His team mate lost the game on his own by dumping unlimited amounts of mass... All he killed with his 20 gc's was defensive structures.... Sorry but you miss interpret the situation
@@nein4599 Defuq? Obviously, that was not the most intelligent strategy and he could have gone for T3 Artillery more too pressure the Air Field. But he had units on the ground and needed Air Support. He made a great effort in having map control but his teammate never reacted fast enough against the Walers. It is as clear as day that if his team mates reacted to the walers much earlier by not camping with his ASFs at the bottom of the map, the GCs would have had much more effect with completely ruining the opponent waler strategy by ruining their eco. It even was close at the end and they had way less metal to work with but Kavat decided to bail out of the game the easy way: Tele-Suicide your COMM into nothingness. Especially in the beginning where the opponents had almost no ground units that could challenge the GCs. I am not sure, if you paid attention to all the stupid stuff that Kavat did but there was a hell of lot of that.
Sorry, do you play the game? I certainly do. Kavats reaction was too slow, in that one you are right, for gunships there is one simple counter, it's called flak.... He could have easily dealt with this situation on his own, but the main failure of the game was the mass dump! By the way there opponents mentioned it in the comments as well.... Believe me, I know what I am saying, I have some 8k games or so
@@nein4599 Yes I do play the game and there was a bunch of flak in there if you look carefully. But the really needed assistance from team air. Obviously the mass dump was a problem, but it was not the ROOT of the whole problem. The mass dump would have by far not been as easily acccessible as it was, if the GCs were left with more HP to press and more units like harbingers coming behind them. Like this, the GC were not even able to delete many important factories of the opponent. Just because the opponent mentions the ressource dump does not state anything about the greater problem, which in my opinion was Kavat. He was just not there, when it mattered.
I played SC about 15 years ago and loved it, now that no one is really doing the genre good any more, ive taken a look at these casts and ive gotta say, theyre so entertaining!
I don't consider this a comeback tbh. This was more of a throw by a player who had all the cards, but threw them away (literally, with giant mass donations) in his dogged determination to keep following the same ineffective strategy. He had the eco to build his own air facilities, or more standoff weapons, or more ground anti-air. He didn't use it, instead just sending wave after wave of ground pushes.
Yep, those support commanders advancing with the GCs should have been spamming down SAMs to counter the gunships. How long would those whalers have lasted circling over continual AA attack?
Dunno if I missed something, but I'm surprised water didn't go for nukes. A couple of nukes before his GCs hit would've made a big difference. Coulda even nuked his own GCs when they're getting swarmed by Wailers, seeing as how he was treating GCs like they're just bigger Harbingers.
pretty sure bottleofwater got cocky and decided to try and win the hard way. At one point he tells his teammate to stop assisting a T3 arty, because water decided to stop building it.
Painful watching Kavat and his lack of response to almost everything going on. Bottleofwater did amazingly well despite his team mate offering all the support of a chocolate teapot.
It's funny that the ONE TIME I have time to watch a Gyle cast right when it comes out is the ONE TIME that Gyle gives us permission to throw it into the Watch Later list :P
Your tangential commentary is just the best thing. These little quips and anecdotes that lead in completely unexpected directions. Never change. The hair commentary was unhinged, but funny; and the after-the-fact realisations that some things sound overtly lewd, yet seemingly never trying to appeal to outright crudely sexual humor is also pleasant, because it's not too on the nose. Great use of the Megalith at 45:20. Seeing Soulrippers is rare, but they are completely undervalued, when your team has air superiority. I consider them better than Czar.
In the Supcom world, "green" doesn't mean ecological hardware, it doesn't mean the color of the circuit boards, it refers to the robots' lack of experience in mechanical murder
I think donating mass is a bit simplistic. It's closer to optimal to spend the mass to gain territory/position. If they had better air they would have won.
28:20 Bob Marley and the Wailers; after Marley died, they carried on as The Wailers. They're still going, as far as I know, though I don't think any of the original members are still there.

i'll always like for gyle ego Team 2 really got a bad case supcom head in that match, they spent a solid 30 minutes mass donating GC's and an infinite swarm of engies and shields for no major gains (got close at one point) while holding a massive eco advantage. They should have identified that T2 was pretty turtled and switched to arty or even leaned into air production. Of course after 30 mins of this game the brain tends to turn a bit mushy.
This. I watch at 2x speed as a spectator, so I'm pretty fresh for the whole game... but these guys have been playing 1x speed or SLOWER, constantly bouncing between eco, macro, and micro... it's a game of endurance as much as it is of skill.
Do you know Calibers icon mods? Make looking at mexes and their level way clearer. Also makes other key structures stand out - radars, HQs, nuke, antinuke
Gotta hand it to them for never giving up. Im most RTS games losing that much that quickly normally prompts a mass leave. Supcom players built different i guess.
It's not often you see someone throw out a completely new strategy these days, bottleofwaters engie+mobile shield backed with static arty is not something I've seen though :)
They needed more mobile AA. They both just let T3 gun ships walk all over them. Cougars and lightening tanks would have ate them up. You get enough like 40-50 of them, you kill all the gunships and help your air player win.
Legit was railing about 3/4's of the way through the video about how Tryth and Terarii were both done for. The overwhelming force headed their way, and the clean sweep of the north to the pond had me calling game over. Absolutely did not see them coming back and winning. Shows you the difference between 2200-2400's and an 1800ish. I've seen this time and time again. They'll weather the storm, hold out, reach critical mass, then push out with overwhelming force. Remarkable to see. And Gyle since you say you like the abuse, I wish you a very heartfelt f**k you. :P
