I love these old Soviet-Afghan war songs. the emotion of the singer is very clear and easy to understand. I also love the way the Russian language sounds in song, its beautiful.

I wish Gruppa Kaskad released more of their old music. Their new stuff is alright, but their old stuff is what we really need on Spotify

Very nicely done. This version is extremely smooth compared to many others. You should try find a good quality version of Опять Тревога. That would be neat.

"Shuravi" means Soviet or Communist party member or official. The word became common after the Soviets established a communist goverment in Buhhkara (Uzbekistan + Tajikistan) in the 1920s. "Shuravi" would become the word used to describe the advisors and engeneers that the Soviets would send into Afghanistan in the 50's. By the 70's and 80's it would become kind of like a derogatory term. which wasn't really that offensive. Kind of like gringo for the Americans in Mexico.
    Shuravi Kub asti! lol

@@RedDawn1984 Its alr haha, in most of the other versions there is that part. Basically translated
“Cascade” soldiers I went to see
And I stood hiding behind a mosque
Other moment - towards me comes one
      Blue eyed young blonde
As I laid my eyes on the Shuravi
      In my soul nightingales sang
I forgot the shame and Sharia
And I sad come with me soldier
Even with that missing part this is the best version out there, and thank you for finding it :D

Is the song named after the Chak Wardak district of Afghanistan? I'd assume so.
Different topic but I also notice that this melody is SUPER common in Soviet music from this time. Makes it recognizable so I like it more

2:00 Russian subtitles are wrong, синие глазый, not неразумный. English subs are correct though

  • @durperboss
    @durperboss 6 месяцев назад +2

im still learning russian so im not sure if im mishearing something, but it seems like at 0:51 the singer says "спать тебя собою положу," compared to the subtitles which say "спать с собою рядом положу," and at 1:05 the singer says a different word with a "п" and "ж" compared to the word "устало" in the subtitles.
edit: also noticed at 1:16 its "заставляет спать нас в бтр" instead of "загоняет спать нас в бтр"

    • @RedDawn1984
      @RedDawn1984  Год назад +20

The old version had a 20s intro which some people including me felt was annoying and stood in the way of playback - for example in a playlist - and it didn't let me outright remove it in YT Creator Studio so I decided to re-edit the start and re-upload it. Will keep the old one unlisted, I don't mind loosing the views and all if it's for a better viewing experience.

Is this set in the Perspective of a Man or a Woman? is it like the song Kinky boots where they're calling the soldiers gay and making fun of them? Or is it just an actual love song

    • @RedDawn1984
      @RedDawn1984  11 месяцев назад +7

It's a sort of love song from the perspective of an Afghan woman - though it ends with the woman waiting endlessly for the (probably dead) soldier to return to her
