Thanks for taking time to put this video together. Could you make another video showing how the MDD settings can change the output of the posted code? Particularly in the machining preferences and interop events. I fought a 5axismill post for fives years because the MDD was never properly setup for the machine. There is little info out there and I feel like the post department could use improvement in this aspect.
This video is one that shows how to machine on main using a SLUG, then transferring to the sub-spindle. If you are machining from a billet, then parting off, then transfer to the sub-spindle, the use of the Utilities process changes a bit. I might do another video in how to program using a long bar. As far as your 5-axis post, the post department sets up the MDD in accordance on how the customer wants to program. I normally like to program from COR (center of rotation), which works very well. Some programmers like to program from the table top, but depending on how the customer wants to program will be how the MDD is set up. Also A and B axis sometimes have limits. You can always have the post department change the MDD to how you want to program 5-axis parts. You would need to be on Maintenance, as Gibbs does send out posts for older versions. If you are on Maintenance, then there will be a post charge normally, then you would have aprox 6 months to have them make any other changes at no-charge. Hope this helps.
