Back spin on the Qball transfers into forward spin on the object ball, regardless where the balls are at. If you hit bottom, your tip goes below the Qball, and you can't double hit, if done correctly. Efren has great control. Average players may struggle, but intermediate and above should be able to do it. Just takes repetition

He’s a real magician on pool. All magician have their own favourite items to pull an sucessful illusion before public. Where as efreen favourite is pool board. Master at his craft.
That's a trick shot many players practice for trick shot competitions. He would not have tried it for this video unless he had already did it through practice...
I see what's going on here now and if anybody thinks that it's a stick hitting the cue ball twice, they are wrong. If that were the case then it would look different and easy to see in slow motion. There's something very weird going on here and that's why it looks very demonic. I believe the key here for sure is the 10 ball and how far the distance it is from the when you set the shot up and to make it even sicker is Efren and how far he pushes the cue ball and the eight before backing off with the stroke and it's perfect timing and perfect distance because the hits the 10 full and therefore transfers its energy into the 10 but because now the cue ball is just right behind it by 1/8 of an inch maybe or 16th of an inch or perhaps even closer and because of the elasticity of the eight colliding with the 10 and transferring its energy then we apply Newton's law for every action there is an opposite reaction and right at that perfect moment of timing the elasticity of the eight ball and 10 ball now bounce back words and that happens pretty much on any pool shot with a full contact and therefore as the eight wants to transfer its energy into the 10 it does and the opposite effect of bounce back is met by a cue ball that in effect because there is a gap of space and the cue ball has not lost any speed because of the push from Efren, we now get what I say in my mind is a double back energy transfer and all the speeds are the same of original launchpoint and that's why the shot just looks so weird and even if you did set it up perfectly the same as Efren, there are many different outcomes that can occur looking nothing like what Efren did and most of them involving a cancellation of energy were one of the object balls being the 8 ball I'm sure either stuns forward an inch or off to the side a few inches with the 10 coming back and kicking the eight off to the right from the video side perspective and sometimes the cue ball maybe even hitting the dead 8 ball now towards the pocket but the eight only gets bumped forward a few inches. And if I'm not mistaken Efren is putting some kind of weird right spin throw in order to straighten out the relationship after collision of the 8 to the 10 because that 10 comes straight back at the cue ball and that's the next weird thing about this that makes it look so weird. Efren man that dude is diabolical. I might be mistaken but I believe this shot is extremely extremely difficult.
With the benefit of slow motion, it is clearly a foul, unless the cue ball was frozen to the 8. However, if I were refereeing a game, I wouldn't have the slow motion and would have to give the call to the shooter, because there's no way to see a double hit in real time.
It's definitely a double hit. But double hits, or push throughs, are allowed when the balls are frozen together because it is impossible with the naked eye to prove the double hit.
I don't think the shot is a foul but it depends on House rules or rules of certain eras where I remember back in the '80s this would be considered a legal hit, but the slow motion part is so fitting as if it's the fourth or fifth dimension and Efren being from outer space. A commentator from POV pool named box Patterson, said Efren is a UFO. Man that is brilliant.
An argument could be made for pushing the cue ball. There is a foul related to contacting the cue ball for too long of a time. Very hard to impose such a rule…. and I’m certainly not calling it on the Magician 🙂
A lot of players is gonna call a push on that shot . I would . When two balls are frozen you have to shoot away from the ball for it to be a legal shot . He’s just shoot fast and forcing the ball through . It’s a foul
When two balls are frozen together the cue will not cause a foul, it's only when there is a gap between them that you can't avoid the foul if you shoot direct.
When frozen they leave at the same speed when gapped(yes, even with a paper thin gap)there is a slow down of the second ball due to the collision of said balls.😁
I feel like any amateur ref would call that a foul without watching the shot. But, watching the slow mo it can be argued that it is legit. One could argue till they are blue in the face, but no one would believe you. I think it's still a foul. Maybe, the cue hits it again and causes the draw. I just don't know. I feel like it would not pass in any league.
Cue ball hits tip multiple times so foul double hit slow proves it if you watch closely, I thought it was a good hit at first an kept watching cuz I wanna learn that myself but alas double hit
Yup, cuz bottom English transfers into forward spin on the object ball, regardless if it is dead or not. The problem is that a lot of players can't do that without double hitting
If the ball is touching its gonna double hit the cue tip no matter what. Thanks to high speed cameras we now know this......but in 9 ball or bca i guess it doesnt matter.
That was a scratch for sure. But I have seen a random video where Efren did this trickshot, it was pretty clean far from scratch. He let someone took the shot and it went well. He just taught him (apprentice) the technic before doing that trick shot. ✌️😁💪
Everyone saying it's a bad shot definitely has a lot more to learn in the rules of pool. Under the WPA “official rules of pool,” when the cue ball is frozen to the object ball, you are allowed to hit into the cue ball toward the frozen ball with a normal stroke since the shot does not result in a push or a double hit: In fact there are aiming systems devised just for this type of shot.
Good trickshot! 👍👍 I have doubts if it's a legal shot though. Given the two balls are frozen together and how Efren shot it looks like a foul shot to me.
BCA ref here. I'd call good hit but only because I didn't have access to the slow-mo during a game and ambiguous calls go to the shooter. With this slow-mo, it's clearly a foul because the cue ball travels past the midpoint of the 8-ball, indicating a double-hit. Again though, no real way to determine that in real time, so call goes to the shooter. Good hit.
Illegal shot because the cue hits cue ball twicè. Correct way is hit cue ball at an angle. I do not agree but if slow motion is the only way to see the double hit. Correct me if I am wrong.
You would be correct if the balls were close together, but not frozen. When they are frozen there is no double-hit foul. Dr. Dave does a whole video on this concept.
