The P in MVP stands for Player not team. CJ has been carrying this team to victories but hes just now getting recognition. Watson came into a better team than CJ has. CJ has elevated everyone around him.
Well, history says you are wrong. Historically, the award goes to a QB with a great season on a top team. Google it. Exceptions are offensive players with a (near) record-setting season.
If the Texans steal the division from the Jags after being the worst team in football last year, there really can't be much of an argument against him being an MVP, especially in a year where there is no clear cut favorite. The talk about Tyreek and AJ Brown being MVP candidates is fun, but if Kupp didn't do it in 2021, nobody else is, I don't care. WRs don't win MVP. I think Mahomes has had a decent season but it's not even close to the one he had last year and the biggest reason for the Chiefs' success is their defense, so I can't see him winning it again. The bias with this guy is so thick that I can drive my truck through it. I am unsure what they mean by the Texans “managing” CJ. He has done everything that is required of him and then some. Who are these stars in his roaster? He is practically making no-name guys slowly become household names, which is what a star does. Of course, he is in the conversation. The question is, when the time matters against a formidable opponent on the road, can you carry the team on your back and win? I believe CJ has done that.
Actually for me, I need to see him win against bad teams. Stroud and the Texans have proved they can get up and beat teams they're not supposed to, but have a lot of problems beating teams that they're supposed to. And as goofy as it sounds, great players and teams need to be able to beat worse teams along with winning games they're not supposed to. It's an ability that comes from experience and Stroud will, no doubt, learn how to do it. But, I think to be considered an MVP candidate, he needs to show he can do it now instead of, say next year, after he's gained more experience.
It really depends on how you define the MVP. In practice, the MVP is usually the most dominant offensive player (usually QB) out of the top tier playoff teams. Some people feel it should be the best player of the year, independent of how well that team plays overall. Others feel like it should fit the title, and be the player in the league who is most valuable to his team. If you go by how the MVP is usually picked, it's likely either going to be Mahomes or Hurts. Given that Mahomes won last year, I'd say Hurts would probably be the favorite unless something happens to him or the Eagles. Lamar Jackson is likely also in that conversation, should the Ravens win out. If you go by best player of the year, that opens it up quite a bit. You could easily argue for even a defensive player, like Myles Garrett, given how dominant he's been. Should Stroud continue playing like he has the last couple weeks up into the playoffs, he'd certainly enter that conversation. If you go by who is the player most valuable to his team, Stroud has arguably already won it. If Davis Mills or Case Keenum were running the Texans offense, they're probably happy to have two wins right now, if even that many. We saw what happened when CJ had an off day when the Texans gave the Panthers their win a few weeks ago. It wasn't pretty. I'm not discounting the massive boon that Demeco Ryans and Bobby Slowik have been for this team in their first year, but a large portion of what they've done has been centered around how they have built this team around Stroud's strengths. The majority of the team's success so far has been due to his on-field ability to execute his coaches' plans and his off-field leadership and inspiration. Even the defensive players are perfectly happy to walk through fire to get him back the ball and good field position.
Stroud and the offense are already a true offense, it is great/amazing. The issue is the the HOU D is definitely sub-par, or worse. So maybe playoffs and lose, but all in all, this team could rocket up to the top 5 teams, even potentially next season but I think more likely 2025.
I think till the Panthers game they were trying to manage their way to a playoff spot and that caused an offensive shakeup and more of a nothing to lose instead of managing.

Recently the MVP race is more of a qb award and it goes to a top seeded team, not necessarily the 1 seed, but lately it's been one of the top seeds in the league
@@Ballaholic17 Yeah I totally agree that it’s mainly a QB award, that’s the way it should be. It’s by far the most important position. What I’m saying is that you don’t need to be the 1 or 2 seed to be MVP. If your team has a good record (10+ wins) and you have the best stats, you’re more deserving than the QB that is the 1 or 2 with inferior numbers.
@jackyoung9731 I agree with that, but the people who vote tend to favor the best teams, Stroud will only be considered if the Texans keep winning, and I think it's very possible with their upcoming schedule
@@Ballaholic17 we are pretty much in agreement here. I agree that they have to keep winning but I just don’t think they have to be 13-4 or 12-5 for him to win MVP. In most seasons he would but this is a very unique year in that really nobody, certainly no QB is having a true MVP like season. To this point the MVP would probably have to go to Tua or Brock Purdy, which is pretty remarkable to think about lol
For me he has to be in the discussion. Nobody in the league right now is playing at an MVP level so it opens the door for quite a few players and this year the player that wins it will have numbers that are a very poor MVP standard. If Texans win the division it is possible he gets it if he continues to play like this and nobody else exploded at QB.
@@lifeisfortheliving2070 what 😂😂😂😂😂 I know it ain’t all about stats but, when it comes to MVP it is and Stroud beats Hurts in nearly every stat. Plus you aint winning MVP with nearly the highest turnovers in the league unless you have 3 to 4 times more tds than turnovers.

Ok.. i was with you all until the colleague and supervisor comparison. No. That supervisors salary is nearly twice or higher than me and my colleagues. In the NFL it may be smaller but not in the real world. Use another correlation next time.
It’s on Stroud.. You HAVE to eat the ball in that spot and punt it with a 10 point lead (and the last 2 drives being stopped by INTS by your defense).. He’ll learn..
Record doesn’t reflect their power. They should be 7-2 but they gave it up to ATL and Carolina who honestly wouldn’t stand a chance against a Texans team that’s working.
"youre not mvp when their managing you, running you, not letting you throw that much even when youre down." just goes to show you Simms hasn't watched CJ Stroud at all this year.
My guess is that he was talking about that stretch from Atlanta through Carolina where defenses (I heard, since I don't get Texans games) that defenses were just dropping their back 7 into zone all the time. I guess, from Tampa Bay on, they adjusted by throwing more on 1st down and being more aggressive in general.
If the Texans win the division and go to the playoffs and Stroud keeps having 300+ yd games how could you not favor him for MVP. It’s still too early IMO but that would be how I can see him winning it. FYI he won’t. A lot of haters out there.

I actually like Strouds game I truly do but no Stroud can not be the league MVP. They lost to the inept sorry laughing stock Carolina Panthers. However Stroud will be the rookie offensive MVP though and is well deserved.
that second fumble was bs, and don't forget about that TD pass that got called back and he did not even step out. it was just to close to overturn which was also bs
This is how weak and easy the Defense in the NFL has become! Look at what this kid is doing to the league. I hate to say this but Stroud really isn’t that good a QB!
See, Florio is supposed to show that he’s an objective analyst of NFL football. Then he goes and wears those Vikings jerseys. It’s terrible journalism. (OK. Dobbs is exceeding expectations so I think I’ll let it go. Actually I’ve been saying the Vikings need a more mobile quarterback and I switched over to the Vikings game when the Jags were taking a beat-down like Chris Christie during a Republican “debate.” Ahem. But Dobbs looked very good. He’s a better passer than I realized and he has very good wheels.
@@jackyoung9731I guess Jalen Hurts just died huh? 22 total tds.. top 5 is passing yards and tds.. and has the number 1 overall seed. Ohh and beat tua
There making it seem like Patrick and hurts don’t have low yard games or bad games
EXACTLY
I know the Panthers and Bears mad af. I might fire the Bears GM if I owned the Bears.
Keep telling yourself that. Jalen Hurts is MVP.
Imagine being the Carolina Panthers rn 😂. They're the worst team in the NFL, they don't have their 1st rd pick which will most likely be a top 5 pick, they gave up DJ Moore and they didn't even take 1 of the top 2 qbs in last year's draft.
AFC is stacked with QBS
You guys are the problem! If he's playing better than any other quarterback and his team is winning why couldn't he be MVP?? It's these crazy "standards" that are ruining the game!
Puro Pinche CJ AirOut Stroud7
This game must watch the Texans play with his eyes closed 😂😂😂😂
seriously. cant take simms serious.
Compare to LaMar's MVP season.
Main stream media giving us love is so weird
Stroud is better than Burrow ALREADY lmao.
Hey....
I’m 18 & new to history or newly found the love of history. I asked my grandfather about this but he gave me an explanation I don’t think I can repeat....
Why do people throughout history give J€w$ a hard time? And do they deserve it….❔❓❔❓
When I asked my grandfather to elaborate…. He just says “109 countries, 109 countries….‼️”
What does he mean❓❔❓❔
MEOW!!! PLEASE DON'T HATE ME, MIKE.
Not letting you throw that much when you're in games that you're down? How did they win their last two?
What are Panther fans thinking right about now😂😂
i won't even like tease them about it, most panthers fans wanted CJ the whole time in all fairness lol. they were the one collective that was like side-eyeing BY the whole time about the size. They were more worried about it than the panthers ever were lol
Breaking records not only rookie record but veterans as well gets you the MVP………… Sam LaPorta BABY!!!!!!
YEAH RIGHT!! MVP is a QUARTERBACK AWARD! Nobody else ever wins it.
Ok.. i was with you all until the colleague and supervisor comparison. No. That supervisors salary is nearly twice or higher than me and my colleagues. In the NFL it may be smaller but not in the real world. Use another correlation next time.
Being a rookie shouldn't keep any player from being mvp. It's a year award. Tf.
If you aren’t sold by Cj stroud by now your either 2 things.
1. A hater
2. A person who is too young to know football.
That INT was on Dell not Stroud
Dell ran bad route
It’s on Stroud.. You HAVE to eat the ball in that spot and punt it with a 10 point lead (and the last 2 drives being stopped by INTS by your defense)..
He’ll learn..
Dell was too far downfield for that out route, he should have been between the QB and the DB
Don't care about MVP as long as he gets better
No, he's not what's the What's the rush? Everyone did the same thing about brock purdy
You know why Josh Dobbs wears the Number 15? It’s because he’s 1.5 times better than Fran Tarkenton. Oh, snap! Literally.
Show me someone who is playing qb better right now. No one
Record doesn’t reflect their power. They should be 7-2 but they gave it up to ATL and Carolina who honestly wouldn’t stand a chance against a Texans team that’s working.
I still think it’s CMC but Stroud will win ROY no doubt.
"youre not mvp when their managing you, running you, not letting you throw that much even when youre down." just goes to show you Simms hasn't watched CJ Stroud at all this year.
Yeah that was confusing
My guess is that he was talking about that stretch from Atlanta through Carolina where defenses (I heard, since I don't get Texans games) that defenses were just dropping their back 7 into zone all the time. I guess, from Tampa Bay on, they adjusted by throwing more on 1st down and being more aggressive in general.
Funny no matter who you listen to talks more about how the opposing team lost the game rather than what the texans did to win the game😂
Texans season ends 10 - 7, so will Jacksonville. Texans will have the tie breaker.
If the Texans win the division and go to the playoffs and Stroud keeps having 300+ yd games how could you not favor him for MVP. It’s still too early IMO but that would be how I can see him winning it. FYI he won’t. A lot of haters out there.
Texans couldn't put up 20 vs Falcons and Panthers
What's Next We're gonna give Hobbs a 160 million dollars off of 2 games. We're gonna give Antonio Perice A hundred million dollar contract as head coach off of two games all of this is nonsense the media always un a rush for the next great thing
Here's a crazy idea: just say you were wrong. You didn't know what you were talking about.
Oh man this is a field day. This is the kind of stuff where Florio just picks off of Simms tree and steals so many of his tidbits and film takeaways. If you watch this enough or pay attention correctly, you’ll notice simms say things for the first time and then tomorrow and going forward you’ll hear Florio say the same things, when he never ever said them before Simms did. Plus some things you can just tell with Florio. like dude you don’t watch film you don’t study QBs and plays and defenses you don’t know this shit you’re so obviously just copying someone else, usually Simms. But he’ll never give him credit. Florio says it all in a way that would suggest that he’s the football savant and is gathering these takeaways himself. Like as if
I kind of feel that u guys r over rating CJ Stroud. He is good but not elite quarterback as some of u guys r trying to call him. Pump ur breaks please n Lets c what he can show with some of d big teams. 👍😃
he will be rookie of year. Yes MVP. No
You don't need to play perfect every game to win MVP. It's also going thru adversity and still winning. Stop with the bs excuses of why he can't win it.
Whoever gets the mvp will probably have worse stats than cj. No matter what they are not going to give it to a rookie from Houston
Bengals marched down field and score TD. Texans defense stop Cinci offense cold. So its not trapped game, Texans just plain kick a$$.
Did these pundits forget what they were saying about the Texans earlier in the year? No offensive line, no number receiver, new head coach, they’ll be one of the worse teams in the league…….. and here they are acting like Houston is doing things they were predicted to do. Stroud has turned a laughing stock of a team into a playoff team in one season.
You guys never played a snap in your life’s , who are you guys the media ? Where are the Vikings 🤣🤣
Chris simms played in the league bub do ya homework
@@wadexdubnationx1735 BUD FOR WHO ?? He threw more INT then TDs whole career 😹 BUD
I actually like Strouds game I truly do but no Stroud can not be the league MVP. They lost to the inept sorry laughing stock Carolina Panthers. However Stroud will be the rookie offensive MVP though and is well deserved.
Let’s mention the 3 turnovers and he threw a pick at the end that woulda cost them the game if Boyd don’t drop the pass
that second fumble was bs, and don't forget about that TD pass that got called back and he did not even step out. it was just to close to overturn which was also bs
Plus he can go work at Space X if his career doesn’t work out although if he keeps playing like this the Vikings might sign him and jettison Cousins like a stowaway on a Falcon Heavy Rocket.)
Dobbs story is fun, that's all
