I was a vendor at Medieval and Renaissance faires for over 20 yrs. I made custom tooled leather work. I could talk all day to people while in the booth but was extremely nervous when anyone asked me to do any kind of performance in front of the public! Archery was my passion since i was 15. I shot everything you could think of but loved self bows the most. I was finally able to afford a $900 65# Pacific Yew longbow after 30 yrs of shooting but i am 58 now and it is way to strong for me... I loved making my own arrows. Especially with horn inserts. I always told people that arrows are the most expensive, time consuming to make...and sadly disposable 😢 😅 Of course i love the Sexy Ranger but am looking forward to who you come up with your Celtic videos!
Yes, it’s funny how that works when you’re in a certain environment for me when I’m doing the stuff in front of the camera it just is like second nature, but if I ever talk to someone out in public I clam up instantly. I’m very excited for bronze weapons to come in. It’s gonna be really cool and I’m trying to think of some great analogous armors and such to test them against
Recently made my first ever wooden narrow. Kilt of Athena leaf had, 3/8 inch oak dowel, a couple of turkey feathers, kite string and fletching glue with a filed in knock. Shot it twice so far from a 95lbs bow and it still hasn’t blown up on me yet.
BJJ is great. I have a spinal injury now, so I can't roll anymore, but I miss it. It's difficult but fun, and once you get the technique down it's bloody effective. Also great for cardio, rolling for several minutes really pushes your cardio pulmonary system to the max. I don't miss taking knee slices to the thigh, but I appreciate a martial art that allows you to continually punish your opponent and wear them down, convincing them to stop fighting. Brutal but chill is the BJJ way.
Lmao I run out of arrows too quickly without shooting hard targets and the fear of "Robin Hood" still negatively affects my accuracy after all these years, I can only imagine how bad it has to be for you.
