Gorbachev had to deal with Nationalism implanted by idiots like Yeltsin. Yeltsin took a nation from a semi-powerful position to nothing. Gorbachev's only flaw was he was a bit too free for a nation used to repression. He had to make democratization slightly more gradual and he nearly got it, but then Yeltsin threw Vodka all over his plans and danced as his nation fell.

Nice video, but, as a colombian, I'd like to warn everyone who watch it that my country could not be further from being a socialist country as it is rigth now. I know there is people (including other colombians) who say our president is socialist, but just read his proposals, he isn't socialist.
Same, the only socialist place in the world is China at the moment. My line of what is socialism, is whether all land in the country is publicly owned/nationalized. Cuba, Vietnam,Laos claim to but I have seen otherwise.

China is a dictatorship of the proletariat, the communist party is at the helm of power, all land is nationalized and under public rule. All heavy industrial sectors are planned and nationalized, finance/banking, Petroleum, oil refineries, steel plants, concrete plants, mineral/ore- mining, coal plants, nuclear power, postal service, education, electrical and telecommunications, pharmaceuticals, chemical production, railways,insurance, military industrial complex. Ship yards, semiconductors, the largest 5 car companies in China, aerospace and airline industries, engineering and construction companies, and many many more. Additionally early stage communism as explain in the critique of the gotha program, is when a society abandoned money in favor of Labour vouchers, a non circulating currency. This is currently being practiced in certain cities in China. Also the largest service sector companies, tencent and alibaba and many more are under the process of being nationalized.
