    Hey friends! Here is a video showing the building of a 3 phase rack mounted power distribution unit designed for an amp rack. At the time of filming, this was our prototype build. You can purchase the distro from LM by clicking the above link.

    You may want to consider barrel crimps for any straight terminal connections (into the 30a outlet, etc). Any potentially frayed connection is a potential fire hazard.

    I really like the 5amp pop breaker on the curtesy outlet.

    Very interesting to see how things are done in other parts of the world. How are those shrink-wrapped splices made (on the 3ph inlet wires)? This would be a big no-no from where I’m from :)

      It's be a no-go for the UK too I suspect. The "thru" connector I'm pretty sure would also have to be protected by breakers.

    How/where do you get the enclosures for that kind of stuff? I'm currently looking into making a similar distro for euro Standards but can't seem to find enclosures for that

    I can't knock the craftsmanship, but watching these videos of people building distros freaks me out. No way I would ever let someone plug a homemade distro into any of my systems.

    Question: what would I need to tie into a fuse panel single or three phase with cam locks to feed my distribution power panel. Is there a claw type clamp I can secure to each leg in fuse panel then the other end is cam lock?

    • @billylaguardia
      @billylaguardia  9 месяцев назад

      An excellent question with a variety of answers! This is usually the first thing that people look at on site visits. Some venues will have cams or a 21-30 on the bottom of the breaker so you can easily tie in. I’ve seen people bring breakers so they can tie into the main buss bar. This is always the tricky part when integrating distros into your rig. Most production companies will carry “fire starter” cables with them to make their distros work in a pinch. 21-30 to 14-30, 3 Edison’s to 21-30 etc…

  • @mitas3484
    @mitas3484 Год назад

    Seeing as you serialize the plugs, can any one of those cables handle 30A?

    • @billylaguardia
      @billylaguardia  Год назад +2

      Yes. All the internal wiring is 10awg twisted copper THHN wire which is rated for 40 amps.

    • @baileylukens
      @baileylukens Год назад +1

      @@billylaguardia One thing to remember is that while the wire is rated for 40A, the connections on the receptacles aren't. THHN wire is rated at 90 degrees, but most equipment is terminated at 60 degrees, or 30A. Just something to consider :)
