    I enjoyed your video.
    I've owned at least one Rollei (a K4A and others) since 1971. I use them for travel photography, family portraits, and nature/landscapes. When I travelling in Europe, I carried a Leica M (nothing can beat an M3/50mm Summicron for street photography especially after sundown) and a Rolleifllex 3.5, for work in daylight. I work in B&W and do my own printing. I exhibit locally.
    The Rollei Automats (3.5 Xenars and Tessars), post WWII, are easily capable of producing exhibition quality images one stop down from f3.5. An exhibition print is one, by many definitions, is one intended with the viewer 36"/one meter from the print. Trust the lenses, find a way to keep your Rollei steady.
    Carry on Garret-

      I really appreciate this encouragement and the insight! I can only dream of people actually wanting to see my work exhibited! Haha do you have any links or sources for me to find your work? I'd love to see what you've done!

    I have loved Rolleiflex cameras since before photography was ever my passion. So much so, I have a Rollei tattoo. Luckily for me, I was able to grab one by trading my Hasselblad 500c to a friend local and now have my dream camera. There truly is nothing like looking through the waste level view finder! Love these shots brother.

      You were one of my inspirations when I first started with film! I remember seeing that piece hanging off your neck and being mega jealous haha

    Love the waist level experience.. it's different than traditional OVF methods.
    I remember the one shot I fired with this and it was weird. Everything was inverted, so definitely something to get used to for sure. Crazy you got it from a thrift store!

      I need to send you out on a photo assignment with it and a couple of rolls. There's nothing like it!

    I'm dying to try a TLR camera, and just medium format film in general.
    So cool you got the whole story of the camera

      I think TLR cameras are one of the easiest ways to get into MF! Most of the bodies can be had relatively inexpensively and the detail from 120 film is incredible.
      I got super lucky on this camera and it's supporting kit! Haha

    Great video! I have a 2.8c and it’s been my favorite film camera and I have invested so much into it. If you have the chance to send your favorite rolleiflex to one of the best service tech that is available to you, you won’t regret it. I got mine fully cleaned and rebuilt and it has never feel so smooth before. Some of those master technicians can really bring your rolleiflex back into its original states like it was just out of the factory, it’s crazy how they can bring those abused camera back to life and last for another 20 years.

      The Rolleiflex (and my other TLR's) have really opened up my photography this year. 6x6 is so fun and I feel like I really see the world in a new way when composing for it.
      I really appreciate the support! 🙏🏼

      @ 6x6 and waist level has been the most inspiring way of shooting for me, right next to covering 6x7 into 35mm panorama. Nothing can compare to viewing the world in a totally different angle and can get down low with ease. Maybe an investment into a really good quality focusing screen could improve your experience by a lot. Make sure it’s not only bright but the matte finish needs to be very fine to nail the focus. It could be expensive but worth it.

    I love the Rolleiflex but don't own one. I would love to have one, biut I have two Mamiya C-330s with all the lenses. still, a Rolleiflex would be a welcome addition. Loved your video!

      Oh gosh the 330's are absolutely incredible too! Having interchangeable lenses in a TLR body is quite enticing. If you ever decide to part ways with one let me know!

    I loved your video and it was a nice touch to know the original owner of your camera. I just purchased mine today, it will be coming home in a few days (I can't wait!)... I noticed in some of your photos a side band on the right, like a reflection, I'm not sure if those are intentional, or what is the deal? Thanks.

    • @GarrettWare
      @GarrettWare  Месяц назад +1

      Ahhh I really appreciate the kind words! The story on this camera is what makes it for me.
      As for the banding, those are all caused by a developing mistake I was making early on whilst learning how to develop at home. I resolved the issue and the camera performs flawlessly!

    I have a 2.8F and love it. I also have a Fuji GF670 and GF670W - both medium format cameras. The Fuji Gf670 is a folder and produces excellent images but there's something about the Rollieflex...

    • @GarrettWare
      @GarrettWare  2 месяца назад

      Ohhhhhh i love the Fuji folders! For me, the draw of the Rolleiflex(or any other TLR) is in the experience category. I love looking thru the waste level glass, and its a great conversation starter.
      Thanks for the support!🙏🏼

      @@GarrettWare I also have the Fuji GF670W, which is the wide angle version. Not a folder but a great camera
