My mom is 91 and she loves this song! She grew up in Ballina Co. Mayo and when her mother went out shopping she left the 7 children in the care of their father and sitting around the stove in the kitchen he kept them entertained by singing this song. All their little mouths were open piping along. It's a great memory for her. Thank you for this beautiful rendition.
As a child growing up in Ireland neighbours would come to our house they would sing this song among other Irish songs, that was a beautiful time in Ireland
I was watching a documentary on the traditional pubs in Ireland from every county and more and told my 87 year old mother. Then she mentioned the pub and the song. It came out of nowhere like she was there yesterday. I'm glad I got a chance to listen to it with her.
My Mammy loved this song. She often sang it while making bread. I'd be a nipper listening. Me Ma is gone and almost 50 years have passed but this song means a lot to me. Thanks
Wonderful song. It brings me back to the Radio Sponsored programmes that we heard on RTE Radio in the afternoons. Brings me back to my childhood. Thanks so much for posting it.
