Central Coast Amtrak SURFLINER Trains!

- All aboard! This week, we take a look at Amtrak's Pacific Surfliner as it runs up and down the central coast of California. Along the way, we will stop for some views of the Pacific Ocean and visit the Santa Barbara train station, built in 1905. Watch the Surfliner as it winds along the spectacular California coast and through fields full of springtime green.

It's quite a while now since I travelled on the Surfliner route. Santa Barbara to San Diego was always on my list of trips to make when I visited California. A lovely reminder of happy days. Thanks for posting.

I only can imagine sunbathing on the beach with trains passing by just a few hundred feet away, taking it to and from the beach in San Clemente. Oh what nice beaches you Californians (I mean expert rad surfers and people) have!

I was actually on that train with the California car right behind the business class car (it was Griffith Park, being pulled by 455). Not in Santa Barbra, but further south (Fullerton, to be exact) heading towards Old Town, San Diego. Nice catch! It's always nice to see the odd car in an otherwise normal consist.

The Pacific Surfliner/Coast Starlight route is my most favorite Amtrak route from Civilized San Diego to Seattle. The Pacific Surfliners & Coast Starlight share the same route from Los Angeles to San Luis Obispo.

Yeah, sometimes they have them because they don't have enough of the regular superliners.
It is one that used to be in Surfliner colors but for some reason, came back from work at Beech Grove in that paint scheme.

can someone please tell me why the superliners are up front now? its really weird.
They are using the superliners as a second business class car now.
