Licensed Cosmetologist here. Just a pro tip: Next time, use 5 or 10 vol developer to mix with your toner. No need to go in with 30 vol with your toner since your cuticles were already wide open from the initial 40 vol + bleach. Toning with 5 or 10 vol should have your hair feeling less dry as you mentioned. You are gorgeous by the way!
Is it normal for my natural hair to itch a week later..I got my hair bleached and now it's itching so bad
After s curling my hair when is it the right time to bleach it please
@@ashleybbwqueen2937 just seeing your comment! An intensely itchy scalp after applying bleach is an indication that your scalp is extremely dry. Bleach is an incredibly strong chemical, and shouldn’t really be applied directly to the scalp; especially not for a lengthy amount of time. My best suggestion would be to nurse your scalp back to health by replenishing moisture/oil loss. Warm oil treatments (with natural jojoba oil), halting any direct heat usage (blow dryer), as well as halting any more chemical usage directly to the scalp for a while would be great to start. 💗
@@sandrenesimpson I would highly recommend consulting a professional in person. There’s a lot, visually, to factor in; and bleaching on top of an existing chemical service is risky business.
Hi. Do I tone if I’m adding color?
This is the first video I've seen of yours. I'm a professional stylist and you did an amazing job especially for your first time! The only thing I would advise you on for next time, toner is a simple term we use for Demi permanent color which really just means it deposits more than it lifts. You only need to use a 10 volume (20 at most) with toners instead of blasting open the cuticle even more with such a high developer especially after freshly bleaching. Also, you're spot on about the texture change esp for curly haired gals! Again, great job and keep up the awesome videos
Thank you so much for this! I will definitely take this advice into account when i do a touch up!! :)
Arianna P Yess. Glad I read your comment. Because thats a great blonde but Id want a #613 blonde so I would do what you suggested?
CultureofDiamonds
I'm unfamiliar with the color line you're talking about and every line has diff numbers/letters for tones. All I can say is it's risky to do at-home bleach and tones if you aren't a pro cause bleach can be unpredictable if inexperienced
I can only advise to watch the lightener the WHOLE TIME! Don't put it on and do stuff around the house and forget about it. Check (every 10 minutes or so) to make sure it's lifting evenly. Wipe the bleach off a little piece and do an elasticity test (pull on it with a little tension to make sure it's still intact/doesn't feel mushy). As far as toning, I can't comment what toner to use cause everybody lifts diff. For ex. If she lifts to a pale yellow/white and uses a violet toner it will look awesome. But if you only lifted to orange and put a violet toner on it will look muddy and still very brassy. That's why we always wait until after rinsing to see what to tone with. Regardless preferably use only 10 vol dev. and constantly watch so you can rinse if it's taking quickly! Sorry this is long and good luck
Arianna P Ive actually watch plenty of other videos. I've seen alot of others say that often. Use a 10 vol. dev. 👍🏽
CultureofDiamonds
Yes exactly, best of luck to you
I hope it turns out well
So I just bleached my hair using this video (my hair is super short and natural) and it came out AMAZING✨. This video is legit👌🏾.
Well you look amazing
your hair looks BOMB in that profile picture
You look amazing!!!!❤
Any updates?
Same I’m on the first 40 mins rn
Yes hun you are still natural, I have my hair cut the same way. But I have it white/platinum blonde and I toned with the manic panic virgin snow. And after bleaching my hair now for a couple of months I know EXACTLY what you mean about your hair feeling dry. What I found to work for me is putting Jamaican black castor oil in my hair then the cantu leave in conditioner. It is the MOST moisturizing for our hair. And co washing every other day helps I also use the kera care line. You just have to get into the habit of treating your hair every day which realistically is a good thing lol now you will really know what works for your hair and what won't. Sorry for the long message lol
+Olivia Brooks I think you're so right about needing to moisturize your hair thoroughly every day! It's SO needed lol the heavy oil and moisturizer combo is probably the most effective and safest bet, too!! Thank you for these tips 😊💕💕
I've tried toning with manic panic and it didnt work. What did you do?
Olivia Brooks you should do a video on that.
I'd like to know as well because I'd like to tone it lighter to be able to do a pastel purple color
Olivia Brooks hey girl, I’m planning on dying my hair that color do you have any pictures on your ig I can check out if you don’t mind me asking ?
that color enhances your features (which are already beautiful) and makes your skin tone pop!
Thank you!! :)
As a stylist, you did do a great job. A few suggestions use olive/coconut oil before bleaching, after toner use a hair mask, then a deep conditioner. Always condition and use a hair serum daily.
Hey Stephanie.. since coconut oil is a sealant should I moisturize my hair first before adding the oil?
I know this is an old video but this is the best tutorial for blonde dye on natural hair. The details and instructions were spot on can’t wait to try.
Agreed
What is the name of the products
I've been coloring my hair since highschool! And been natural. And have mastered to keep my curl pattern with all the colors I've been and it stays extremely hydrated. And I def think your still natural!
+CurlBombShells :p Ummm spill all of your hydration secrets please lol!! 👀 thank you! 😊😌
Same here. My blonde is a shade below platinum and stays extremely hydrated and moisturized.
If it helps at all, to keep your hair hydrated the first step is to use developers that aren't as strong. Girl you're lucky to have hair using a 40 volume. Knock the 40 down to a 30 for bleaching and the 30 down to a 20 for your toner. My hair is not very porous, so it can take a lot and is hard to dye and these volumes work well and are as high as I'd EVER go. Once your hair started lifting, it wasn't necessary to leave the bleach longer. You don't have to leave it on per the instructions as that's just a guide, instead monitor your head and when it's lifted (which yours seem to lift pretty quickly) then rinse it out. This what caused your hair texture change. Same with the toner, I leave mine on for 15 minutes with 20 volume and I'm good. I just lift up the plastic to monitor it. Finally, it's misleading to say everyone's hair texture will change. Mine is still 100% the same - watchspring coils. Products should be more water-based now to infuse moisture vs. butters or oils since it's extremely dry. Your conditioner should be a VERY high quality one for blonde hair. I use Aveda Damage Remedy, it's not cheap but with our short do's, it should last you a good six months to a year. An excellent, hydrating leave-in - I use Kinky Curly Knot Today. I also set my hair at night using water so I'll spray it all over (work it into my hair sometimes combined with a little jamaican black castor oil) then tie it down damp. This is even more hydration over night.
Jeeeez i like how u just get straight to the point instead of talking too much and I love it and u look sooo pretty in it good job! 👏🏾
I'm going to get my hair cut off (big chop) and dyed blonde today! It's been a long time coming and yours same out beautifully!
I literally dyed my hair after this video because of you !! It was detailed and had the perfect amount of nervousness that I needed !!! And you look great !!!
Yay, welcome to the blonde club , I’ve been dying my own hair for over 2 years, I do a protein treatment weekly that helps with the dryness . Also conditioning daily for me.
This video was sooooo helpful!! I was scared to do this on my own, but I followed the steps and used 20 volume for my toner and it came out so nice!! Thank you! ❤❤
I know this is an older video but i’ve been getting my hair bleached professionally for years but it is so EXPENSIVE and I needed to learn how to do it myself to save some money. I have a basic understanding of the process from watching my stylist but this really helped me understand all steps. Going to bleach and tone tomorrow and i’m so excited, thank you!!
i can only imagine how expensive this would be if you go to a saloon so i'm trying to be brave to try this myself..
I'm loving the blonde hair on you. 😍 By the way you're still natural. You just have color treated hair, we as naturals can color our hair.
+Vanessa Jenkins Thank you so much girlie!! 😌😊
Nia Hope You're welcome 🤗
Most hair products have chemicals that could be harmful to natural hair so I think you are totally covered. I love the color 😍❤️
Nia Hope If you were to put a color like purple in your hair, would you have just washed out the bleach then add the color instead of using the toner?
Candace Laws yes
Best how to bleach your hair tutorial I've seen!
Hey girl! I been searching for girls my skin tone who pulled it off. You did that! 👏🏾😍🔥💕✨
You dying your hair and reaction to it is a whole MOOD😂❤
The absolute best tutorial! It’s been a year since I’ve dyed it and my tips are still blonde. I love it! I’m gonna dye it again!!
You're still natural with color treated hair. It's gorg! I just did the same exact products/process 3 weeks ago. I love it.
+Celeste Brown THIS best suits how I feel. "Natural with color treated hair." Thanks to much for watching and for sharing your input!! 😊💕
Celeste Brown it's not simply color treated. It's bleached. Which is a much harsher process than just using a semipermanent color. Bleach, most of the time, will permanently loosen curl pattern and dry hair out...same as a texturizer. The intent may not have been to alter her curl pattern but regardless of intent the end result is still the same.
Color treated chemically treated etc its not natural anymore.
Slightly processed yet beautiful. The label doesn’t even matter. Lets just all be happy we’re alive! Ase!💕💕💕
I know this video is older, but I just dyed my virgin hair blonde yesterday for the first time ever!!! And it’s all because of you and your precise instructions. Thank you so much and also because I now have short hair as well . I need new looks so I’m a new subscriber. I love your channel!!!
so glad I found a recent review I'm about to try her method to so glad that it worked out for you hope it does the same way did you you follow her exact instructions and use the same products
I wanna do this but I’m scared 😂😍❤️
Same
Go brave lol
I am about to try it in a few moments....
Saaaameee
Same here😂😂😂
This is absolutely the BEST diy bleaching at home video out there.....and I have looked.....thank you!!
I went natural 2 weeks ago! Im totally doing this with the parts and everything with auburn! Love that on you!!! 😍😍😍
The blonde is gorgeous. I recent chopped and blonde and I love it as well. Great video
Thank you! :)
Is it just me or does it seem like everyone is cutting their hair off and dying it blonde celebrities and all lol it's cute tho 😍
Brownskin Barbie this is why I stopped wearing mine platinum or ash blonde and I am growing it out. I don't like having the same style or color of choice as everyone else
Aeija Blu people been doing the blonde and cut wayyyyy before you
Oh thats Lauren i didn't say they weren't. styles ALWAYS repeat and when styles come back around and EVERYBODY decides to do it all at once I pick a diff style thats not the style of choice at the time. so don't come at me trying to check me!
Oh thats Lauren and if you pay attention what i didnt make the intial comment.
@@laurenlocd3180 exactly even women from back in the day did it
Many thanks for being professional with your presentation. It’s just nice to get to the point when folks are looking for informed instructions to color hair. Btw, regarding your question of “still” being natural- yes ma’am, still very natural. Definitely couldn’t do this transformation with relaxed hair. Thanks for your assistance. You and your hair are fabulously beautiful. 💯💯🙌🏽🙌🏽
Chocolate chicks with blonde rule🙌🙌🙌🙌🙌🙌🙌🙌🙌🙌🙌🙌🙌🙌🙌🙌
Brown chicks with blonde rule too...Lol..Thanks

U got that right!!!
@@donnajacksunn489 browns can be chocolate too u bout to get salty 😂😂
Wow!!! The colour is vibrant and so soothing to your skin tone.
It's still natural hair, just not virgin hair. 💕
Rochelle Bonner virgin hair is natural hair meaning it hasn’t been treated by chemicals such as relaxers perms hair color etc
Wide Awake basically what they said genius.
@@user-cn5dh3xd2qu who cares its still her hair
I started bleaching my natural hair like this between 2017-2019. Haven't bleached like this in a minute. And I keep my hair the same length as yours. To me I feel with doing this bleach process your hair is still in natural state. I always kept bottles of Shimmer Lights shampoo & conditioner. You did your thing for it to be the first. I know the feeling doing it first time you be nervous nervous. After several times it's like nothing to bleach your hair. Confidence sets in.
I think it's up to you. I dye my hair and I mostly promised myself that I wouldn't let anyone bully me based on my hair type when I decided to go natural. I think we should just stop shaming and certainly stop gentryfying the natural hair movement.
I would say that you're still a natural, because your hair is not chemical relaxed or permed (perm as in curly). Your natural texture is still there.
With that being said, the only reason that your curls have been altered is because you went in with a 40 volume developer. Your hair would have achieved the same results had you used a 20 or 30 volume developer with the bleach. I usually recommend 20 volume developer.
The 20 volume would have taken more time or the entire 40 minutes with bleach and not altered your curl pattern. The 40 volume lifts very fast and is not recommended for on the scalp use and definitely not the entire 40 minutes. Once you saw your hair begin to lift with the 40 volume developer, you can go ahead and wash it out.
But all in all, it turned out very pretty. Next time just use 20 volume developer or go to a professional so that your natural texture is not compromised.
Yay team blond!! And yes you're still natural (at least I still consider myself and other colour treated naturals as still being natural). Being natural shouldn't make us feel restricted it should be the complete opposite! It's good to change it up sometimes
Girl, you're still natural. I believe that because coloring your hair raises the porosity of your hair, water is able to more easily penetrate the hair cuticles. With your virgin hair, more than likely your hair was low porosity, and it may not have had an adequate amount of water, because your hair was hydrophobic. Now that the porosity has been heightened, your hair may be accepting more water into the cortex of the hair, which may cause your hair to appear looser in texture. Really though, your hair is just moisturized. However, high porosity hair loses moisture almost as quickly as it obtains it, so that explains why your hair felt like hay once you were out of the shower. When I first went natural, my hair was a glorified cotton ball. Now, after almost two years of being natural, and after learning how to train my hair to accept moisture(with a hair steamer and a heating cap) my hair has definition it never had when i first went natural. I thought i had 4c hair when I first went natural. Now i know that I didn't, because my hair ranges from 3c-4b. So my hair was just lacking hydration.
Aliyah Muhammad or maybe bleach permanently loosens curl patterns just like a texturizer does? Do you consider a texturizer natural too?
Kandi Oubre what you typed made no sense at all.
Looks good on you! Just Beautiful
Yeahhhh this explanation is totally incorrect as to the texture loosening.
And I’m a licensed stylist, btw.
Basically your hair was dry and you splashed some much needed moisture.
I love the color on your chocolate skin! It looks gorgeous! And yes I believe you’re still natural
+Diamond Ross Thank you so much!! 😊💕😌
Yesssss
It's super cute on her
Diamond Ross looking really amazing
First let me say the color looks amazing on you. I have been wanting to color my hair and now because of you very informative tutorial I can try to do it. Thank you for this.
This is beautiful, looks good on you.
Thanks so much girlie!
Yep blonde does suit your colouring
Nia Hope I loveeee it 😍😍
Thank you for this video. My teen daughter wants to bleach her hair and I was super apprehensive about it. This gave me a lot of reassurance about it
You just convinced me 2 years later. Thank you
Ugh you look so beautiful. Thank you for the details and products, i will be doing a skunk stripe in the near future! I was really nervous about going about it because in highschool i tried going red on my own and screwed up my hair so bad bc there werent videos like this back then lol. I feel a lot more confident and excited now thanks to you! Again so beautiful
Yep you're still natural love and I'm loving this blonde! I can see you really slaying a red color as well. 💕
Thanks so much!! I don't know why, but the thought of dyeing my hair red scares me more than the thought of being bald lol
Girl first of all i love this hair color on you absolutely beautiful ! And second of all you are natural still no matter what color it is or how the texture changed you still have natural curly hair i can speak on this because i also have a honey blonde color on my natural curly hair. The blonde curly heads gotta stick together lol
Your hair is gorgeous .. I’ve also done the same to mines. I mixed a combo of Shea butter aloe Vera & coconut oil my hair loves it.
OMG. I did this 2 weeks ago and it came out perfect. I followed the directions to the letter. Everyone loves my hair now. Thank You!
Just wanted to thank you. I followed your exact steps and my hair turned out just fine. ☺️
in love with your curls! they're so cute! & you're so beautiful!
The hair texture returns back to its natural form overtime though. I love how my hair feels after changing colors because it isn't as thick and tough
I just bleached my hair for the first and followed your instructions... I am SO EXCITED right now, you have no idea. Really feeling myself! Now, I just need you to post your touch up video...Thanks For Sharing😘
So cute!! and yes it's still natural in my opinion 💖
I'm happy I found you. Going to be experimenting this weekend, so good to see such as well done video explaining everything!
That color looks great on you!. Of course you are still natural lol. Im actually dying my hair right now lol. Ive never bleached my hair cause im scared of bleach. My secret to keeping my hair healthy is switch between protein & moisture. Aphogee 2min conditioner is a life saver!!
First of all you are absolutely beautiful dark and blond!! Second that you so much for this video. I've used the black hair kits to dye my hair several times and it hasn't worked. I've been so frustrated. I can't wait to try your products and techniques. Yay!!
I just went blond today. Thank you so much for this video. It turned out great.
You definitely pulled that look off. It compliments your skin . Beautiful girl !
This color looks so pretty on you! ❤️
Great video! I followed it well. Without the clarifying shampoo and the toner, you end up with that brassiness. Make sure you guys follow the video completely! I started a lighter brown, so I’m too white blonde now. I’m probably going to put a rinse on it. You are as natural as you feel! As the bleaching wears off, that texture will rebound! 😊
The blonde looks gorgeous on you!!! I think that having color treated hair doesn't take away from you being natural.
+Arielle Jai Thank you and thanks for this input!!! 😊😊💕💕💕
I get such good energy from you, like it seriously just radiates like a glow
Girl it’s natural you just bleached your hair which is welcomed in the natural hair community. I love it btw 😍 you’re so gorg.

I'm in cosmetology school and yes you are still natural, your hair just isn't considered virgin anymore because it's chemically treated, but I loveeee your hair you did an amazing job and that cut is everything 😍
You’re definitely still natural lol .. people love to argue 😭😂😂
Great tutorial. I made the leap and did it. I did a 20 and 10 toner instead. I’m very pleased with the results. Thank you

I am so glad that I came across your video before doing mine
I'm late for this post.... Your hair is beautiful. It's crazy how some women think because their hair is " natural" it validates their " blackness " because it doesn't. It's another way for us to be divided who cares what people say. Natural or not, its gorgeous.
i have butterflies in my stomach GIRL IM SO EXCITED TO DO THISSSS you look so good !!! you did what you had to do
Perfect video!!! Your presentation and results helped me to be comfortable stepping out and dying my hair for the first time using the items you used rather than a box dye and it looked so good! I got so many compliments!!! Thanks!
if it's your first time, you have a natural gift. great job, it looks amazing!

I have found that after I do the coloring I do a deep mask conditioner for 45 minutes under the dryer, then I use vegetable a quarter size amount of glycerin and olive oil, and shea moisture and my hair is very, very soft both times I've colored my hair bleach blond and toner. I rub it all in and style with my glove sponge as per usual.
Well I guess I'm gonna be blonde now!!!! You did this so well💪🏾💪🏾
I did it, and I followed the directions to the tee and it came out great. And now I always dye my hair. Im currently dying and I always come back to this video just to make sure Im doing it right.

Love this color on you 😁 yeah I spoke with girl who had color and she said to combat dryness she deep conditions every 2 days! She said it's a must for colored hair. My hair is short now too so I just may give a go. No way I would do with Longer hair😑 Too too much maintenance. New sub though 😂
