How to fix You need to format the disk before you can use it

- When I open the pen drive. The pen drive is not opening in any way. It’s Showing that you need to format the disk in a drive before you can use it. But there are a lot of data on my pen drive that I don't want to delete.
If you have a problem like me, then see how to solve it.
Now search by typing CMD.
Now right-click the mouse and click on Run As Administration.
Now check the letter on your USB drive.
My USB drive leter is “H”. You may have another letter like E, F, G
Now type chkdsk h: /f
Then press Enter from the keyboard
Now the data on your USB drive has been recovered
Now exit the program

It worked, but one of the folders is no longer showing, it`s just apparent that the data is still in the drive given the size on disk versus the size of the folders showing, but that one folder is missing. How do I recover it?

if it's asking to format the file system is unknown. when i do chkdsk it tells me the current format is raw (which makes sense for a drive that is asking to be formatted).

I did this and it is showing "cannot open volume for direct access" Then I closed my laptop and later I opened that USB drive and suddenly all the files can be opened easily.

The type of the file system is exFAT.
Windows cannot run disk checking on this volume because it is write protected.

@@t3logan8I've repaired several of my disks that previously couldn't be used... but I couldn't save the data on them... I just formatted them until my disk was readable again and could be used again... I formatted them by right clicking, and via cmd too

@@khariodub8182 Unfortunately no i tried many other ways to convert that RAW drive but it doesn’t work for usb flash drives for some reason
@@g-gamer362 thanks for the response. I downloaded something called Ease Us data recovery. They charged me $69 but it was the only thing that was able to work for me to recover all of my sons baby pictures. Good luck to you!

@@prodonee i was able to recover mines by using that software. Once you get what you need back, make sure you have a new or trusted thumb drive to add your recovered data to.
