    Note that the rubber washers inside each end of a hose's threaded fittings might not have any obviously visible damage, but they might have flattened or shrunk to the point where they can no longer provide a water-tight seal. It's best to just replace the washers, no matter what they look like, if there's a leak from the threaded fittings. Some hose washers are better than others at creating a water-tight seal--Blue Hawk makes some good hose washers. They're kind of a light brown and somewhat stiff, rather than soft and rubbery.

    Thank you. I just was not tightening the fitting enough. My channel locks were not working well with the ones on the washing machine itself, although they were fine for the other end. You gave me the tip when you showed the two tools. I think using teflon tape on the washing machine side also helped.

    Hi, this is Sheree from GE. I apologize for the trouble you are experiencing with your GE washer. There is the possibility it might be the household valve. I would suggest before calling a plumber, that you watch our video on our GE appliance website, located under the support tab. It will show complete details in the installation of the hoses. I hope this helps!

    Does plumber’s tape help on the connection as well? I was thinking about adding that to ensure a snug fit. Like the idea of replacing the rubber washer as well.

    There is water dripping into the washing machine at the back part. Not a huge amount but a constant drip.

    if it still leaks after tightening them and change rubber washer could it be anything eles

    • @geappliances
      @geappliances  8 лет назад +1

      Check the fill hoses. Before checking the fill hoses, be sure to shut off the water supply to the fill hoses.
      If connections are "hand" tight, but still leaking, at either end, check for a missing or damaged rubber washer, or damage to the hose.
      The fill hose screens and washers should be changed about every 5 years to prevent leaking.

    When I checked the washer, there were two. One black and one red-brown. The other hose has the same, and it's not leaking. So having two isn't the cause of the leak, but it's odd.

    it keeps leaking out of the nozzle that's close to the water valve . i try plumbers tape and tighting it and it still leaks out of the hose . i tried 2 sets of hoses and the same thing happens. what am i doing wrong?? could it be the valve?

    • @patrickmaslowski9471
      @patrickmaslowski9471 7 лет назад +2

      Little late here but if you have a circle valve that connects to your hose, its probably the packing nut within the circle valve, just needs to be tightened.

    you could have decisively mentioned if the end of the hose with the screen is better placed on the machine or the wall

    • @geappliances
      @geappliances  Год назад

      Hi!
      Thanks for asking. The screens on washer fill inlet hoses will normally be used on the end of the hose that connected to the water inlet source, rather than to the washer itself.
      If you have other questions, feel free to ask! -MS

    • @patrickmaslowski9471
      @patrickmaslowski9471 7 лет назад +2

      little late but this video isn't very informative when talking about rubber washers. The supply line should have directions that say hand tighten and then do a 1/4 turn after. If you tighten the "dawwg" out of it, you probably split your washer again. I've done this myself with my hot water heater outlet hose with rubber washers.
