Dr. Bateman you are likely the most educated knowledgeable doctor with regards to FM, ME, CFS that I have come across is my 41 years having these sever conditions since I was 20 yrs old. I have spent most of my life researching, investigating and offering myself to scientific studies to help find help for my community of patients who suffer with these debilitating chronic conditions which steal all quality of our lives. Most if not all family, friends, and aquentinces cannot understand just how much we are suffering 24 /7. Our illness is known as The Silent illness because you cannot see our condition from the outside as it is only visible to us on our inside. I would like to take this opportunity at this time to thank you so much for bringing light to our plight to find help, relief and a better quality of life which is so complex for the majority of us. From all of us in this community we want you to know just how much we appreciate you and truly are grateful for what you have done and continue to do to try and help us reduce our suffering. I've been watching other videos you have made especially on C19 Long Haulers and the relationship and similarities to ME / CFS.
Once again we thank you for helping us and the next generations that will reflect on you're exceptional scientific accurate knowledge.
Take good care and Canada 🇨🇦 thanks you and is so proud of you.
    Bravo Dr. Bateman Bravo!

I'm only 4 minutes in, and my neck is getting sore from nodding so much in agreement with your points and slides. WOW!

Wow! Your graph on sleep stages is the best I've seen and makes me understand whats happening with mine. All other info I've read on stages has REM sleep last, after deep sleep, but thats not true then. REM is occurring before deep sleep. This makes total sense why we are so exhausted yet still recall so many dreams. Thank you for this.

@Make or Break : Same here! My sleep is never lengthy, usually 2-3 segments, at best. I've often wondered why it is that I regularly remember dreaming, but always feel exhausted.

Sleep onset insomnia has always been my big bugbear, right from when I first got ME more than 11 years ago. Now that I'm peri-menopausal, it's even worse. If I don't take a sedative on the nights I can't fall asleep, I won't get to sleep until at least 3.30am. I'd far rather have 7 hrs of drug-induced sleep than 4 hrs of natural sleep! Sometimes you iust have to be pragmatic.

I hope you’re sleep quality has improved or at least the sleep aids are safely continuing to help you..
I’m dealing with a lot of insomnia myself now and believe I’m in perimenopause

I'm so grateful for this video thank you for making all your advises freely available to self help it just saddens me wishing if only proper treatment like this were available in the UK for the many not just the few that can fund it. Our General practioners giving out CBT, mindfulness antidepressants and epilepsy drugs even narcotics with no understanding or proper training of this disease. So Godbless the good works of Bateman Horne 🙌🙏

What if only zolpidem helps to fall asleep but not the rest, though all cause drowsiness but only zolpidem initiates sleep. Any tips for this?

I've had the best success with Dayvigo (similar to Belsomra mentioned in the video which I also tried but didn't fall asleep as reliably). I've had consistent sleep with no side effects. The biggest hurdle is getting insurance approval because the cost can be prohibitive.
