The problem with this game, is that after it's finished, you can't play anything else, especially if it was experienced at a young age. It just sets a ridiculous high standard that most games won't even try to achieve.

A bit of AIMNAS but that was years ago. and... i think that's it. I want to play Urban Chaos and I still don't know which are the best combinations of mods for the most deepest tactical experience. Maybe it's JA2 1.13+AI AR+SDO. if anyone knows any better combination, please tell me.

I favorite "cheat". Start the game with you Main Character and get a few mercs with good weapons/armor for 1 day. Clear the first area and do NOT talk to Fatima. Tell the other guys to leave and just setup your main merc on "Practice" you can leave the game running and get everything up to 85. You get angry emails from Enrico, but the game doesn't actually progress.
I found Jagged Alliance: Deadly Games in a bargain bin, bought it, and enjoyed it. Loved little things, like slipping and falling when you try to run on a snowy day. So when I saw this in 2002, I bought it. I've been playing it ever since. I just keep learning stuff and wanting to start over with what I've learned. And to be honest, there's a sweet spot where you are just starting to get good weapons, and you can ambush the Elite troops to get better ones, that I just love. But I finally bit the bullet and actually finished the game in 2020 for the first time. Yes, I played it for 18 years, for hundreds of hours, if not thousands, without ever caring if I finished it. And I'm still playing it, using Straciatelli now, since I can't get it to work well any other way. The only thing I miss is, on one of the earlier versions, the higher difficulty was timed turns, so if you interrupted someone, you had a certain amount of time (based on your level) to act before they continued with their turn. THAT was hard at the lower levels. By the time you get to level 6, the time really doesn't advance on an interrupt anymore. But I tell you, that made you make sure all your weapons were ready when you thought someone might round the corner. These days, all I can find are the Iron Man ones that don't let you save in combat...which makes things harder in a different way. Anyway, thanks for the memories and the humor.
You pretty much described me and my playstyle but i finished the game twice when this game was fresh and i was a child, now i don't really have the need to finish it. i just, at some point, get my fill and start again. and second difference, i still have my 1.02 version. I instaled it twice, and instaled 3 other versions of JA2. i think i should try the timed interrupt.

i would like to add in addition to armor, when you get hit with bullets your armor total weight increases, repairing it wont decrease the weight, also you dont want your load go above 100% bcuz it affects travel speed and action points in total, always drop heavy medkits and toolboxes when enter combat.
I love this game. Flashback was fun but not as good as this IMO. I still think Rage was named after what longtime fans of the series would feel while playing it.

took me almost 20 years to get clean of this i used Factorio as alternative drug and have been clean since... also thanks to the fact that setting this game up to my liking is a PITA!
If you want even more immersion, 3d graphics and fully rts instead of turn based look for 7.62 hard life. Basically, russian ja2 with 10 times the amount of weapons and even more difficulty. But, Don't expect a stable game it crashes even more than ja2. The tradeoff is that everything you love about ja2 you will find in 7.62 had life, even some of the mercs you can hire are the same as ja2.

This game was a big part of my childhood, I remember playing it at my friend's house for an hour, and then playing Swat 3. It had such a magical feeling that I can't describe (playing in Russian of course, no dub can emulate it). I still feel that all the modern and 8K HDR and ray tracing pale in comparison to the Special enhanced weapons that have the *Sparkle*. Sea Dogs a.k.a Corsairs also one of them. also the Cossacks series, in fact the logo of the game, which is a painting called "Reply of the Zaporozhian Cossacks" by Ilya Repin, has such a strong sentiment for me, the same that I have Alloids as a whole. It's impossible for me to describe.
@@robinmattheussen2395 I refused to call them correctly, but also in russian this is how it's spelled, translated to english, correctly, by sound. and they are enjoyable when you know what you are doing, and succeed by yourself. the feeling of achievement and the satisfying feeling of accomplishment when you style on the enemies. but only if you know how to play and be very cruel to NPC's, because there's no Karma in this game, so you can finish the level, and then kill most of the NPC's for money. or just use cheats.
