Though the EMD(4500hp) accelerated quickly in this video, we must remember that the WAP7 with 6000+ hp is more powerful and has a better acceleration capability.
From an engine sound standpoint, nothing comes close to the earth shaking Boeing whining from the EMD. ☺️

😉😉😉 this is the psychology of people, coincidentally both of them take same 1min 20 sec to cross the videographer and most of the people say WAP 7 is better in this case; WAP 7 0.33 to 1.53 and WDP 4D 2.37 to 3.57 .

For people WAP7 is better either because of it's higher HP or it's their favorite loco. People need to realise that even if the WDP4D has lower HP rating that WAP7 it's Tractive Effort is higher than the WAP7 making it better at hauling 20+ coach loads on steep gradients. Both locos have their good and bad sides and die hard fans too. So better to appreciate both for the show they put up in the video.

WAP 7 is more powerful but WDP4 produce more torque ! So probably WDP4 won't be able to accelerate fast but if the line is stiff ( inclination ) then WDP4 will perform better.

Actually there is no comparison. WDP4D is a Diesel Locomotive whereas WAP7 is an Electric Locomotive. Obviously WAP7 will pickup more speed than WDP4D in less time. I won't say anything because I love both WAP7 and WDP4D equally.

Wap 7 is light electric locomotive and it has less tractive effort as compared to wdp series as well as electric locomotive has problem of wheel sleeping which made acceleration lesser then emd..
