I have 3 Massei spears on display in my livingroom. 2 are the long blade type with decorative beads and the other is almost identical to Simon's accept no beads on the wood shaft that joins the spear tip and the bottom half. Made in the early teens of this century. Would love an original shield someday.
That classic Maasai pose is always iconic! Wherever you meet the Maasais or the Samburus be it in Narok,Kajiado,Amboseli or in Laikipia, they all randomly strike the pose and a Post Card Moment happens live right infront of you 👌
Just seeing this and will watch now. I always climb Ithumba Hill in Tsavo. You start out thinking piece of cake......but......it begins to go......straight........up!! Beautiful views, well done, thank you for sharing!
Jambo Dave and Tracy Tracy you hold bakora climbing the mountain like masai with speyer Dave always hotels or camp sites they don't pye gide gide or you go alone like this mountain I think was wise to have gide for your safety 🇰🇪🐘🦏thank you for nice Adventure 🇰🇪🐘🦏
Amazing guys Love u both , but u need to visit some hoods around Nairobi.,, for example i stay y in a neighborhood called githurai , come and experience how locals live ,
Good point about the sandals. Before you mentioned it I was thinking difference between the Westerners and indigenous and how free he looked going down the hill and you Dani especially with your heavy boots. You were overly prepared as Westerners and with more 'gear' which wasn't required that day. I hope you learn that a little 'chilling' isn't too bad. I had same experience coming from the West and had to learn to take more 'easy'. Even the stride was different yours was heavy due to the boots and gear. You do the sensible thing for example I would want to wear boots climbing the night time when it's dark. The feet need to breath it's not natural to be fortified in a tight place with moisture due to sweat which can't be healthy.
I have trekked Ololokwe 5 times and I find lighter weight hiking shoes perfect. I use Oboz. But do not choose their waterproof option as they don't breathe.
Congratulations on the hike and great insight into the samburu culture especially the story on the leopard watching the morans and hoping for some meat to drop their way 😁
@@DaveMani Your channel has become a travel guide and a source of education not just to tourists but Kenyan residents who don't travel far from urban areas. If you Tag the County where Mt Ololokwe is and mention it in your video, you are creating greater awareness and boosting the economy of that locality. I think at this point you know Kenya more than most Kenyans do 🤣🤣🤣
Hi, just wanted to remind you that in slightly over a week we have our election. The contest is very very hot. Normally we experience some violence around election. The extend we can’t predict and there could even be none. I would advice if you can limit movement. If you stay in the leafy suburbs of Nairobi, just keep to those. Avoid travel as we get closer to the elections and a few days after as you monitor the situation. Avoid crowds and public places.
I am well aware. That being said I think that these election will be much better than 7 years ago. Kenyans are more united this time and also very aware of what happen if things go wrong. I hope for the best!
I find hiking to be such a waste of time! That being said, I don't see why you have to pay a fee to climb unless you are paying directly to KWS or Kenya museums. Looks like its open to the public.

Hi Dave, Tracy,
Great video. Try Chalbi desert and lake Turkana in Northern part of Kenya.
We will do both hopefully this year! :)
