Hey dude. Nice demo of these awesome pickups. I have some Lollar imperials in my Eastman LP Style Guitar. These are also great PAF Style Humbuckers. I talked to Steve from Sunbear pickups and if I get my new Baum guitar I’ll order a set of overwound firebird pickups from him that will hopefully complement the pickups from my LP. I’m really excited for that 😁
Hey, man! Thanks so much. I love the Lollar Imperials too! Dude! That’s awesome. Stu is the best. Those Baum guitars are so, so cool. Looking forward hearing if you get it and the Sunbear firebirds! 🔥
I just bought a set of SunBear PAFs for my Wildwood R8. I’ve tried them all, Throbak, Wizz, OX4, Rewind, Doyle Coils, Tyson Tone Lab, etc. I’m super excited to try out the PAF’s from Stuart. Every other guitar I own currently has Sunbear picks and they’re fantastic. Especially his P90 and Strat pickups. Can’t wait to try his PAFs!
That’s awesome!!! Congrats on the PAFs. I can’t wait to hear what you think. Thoughts on your wild wood R8? I’m really itching to try his P90s as well.
I have a Wildwood R8 as well! I dig the WW spec custombucker set in there, but there seems to be deficiencies in there, that are more noticeable the longer you play. I’ve been through the gamut with pickups as well. Lots of OX4’s in other guitars. There is just something missing from the OX4’s…maybe too sweet, and not enough bark and bite in the upper mids for me. I’ve been trying to run through as many Sunbear clips as possible! I’ve also been interested in the RAF and RAF2 sets from Righteous Sound.
@@Sean0780 Hey there. I feel you on the PAF search. For me, Stu’s pickups still are the top of the heap. You can hear more of the 59 Sunbears in my demos for the Model feT, Lore, Echo Dream 2, Melee and Gibson vs Tokai! Hope that helps!
STEPHENS DESIGN, AND MOJO UK, NOS WIRE.....THESE ARE THE CLOSESR IVE EVER TRIED, HAVE AN ORIGINAL SET, AND THEY SHARE VERY SIMULAR SONIC SPACE.....LOVE THE SUNBEAR....GOOD DEMO
Hi, I just ordered the 59:s. Have Righteous Sound RAF2 in my Bloomfield LP. Ok pickups, but I WANT More dynamic and fuller sounding pickups. Also tried Tysons HB:s. I found them too compressed.
Hey there. I absolutely would! I’ve heard a couple people with them and they sound outstanding. Stu also recommends his 57s for 335s, for a slightly less aggressive sound I think. He’s a wizard, if you wanna get into deep tone specifics.
Doyle Coils Tru Clones and Wizz Premium clones are the closest i have heard to old ones. They just have all the right ingredients that make a Great P.A.F. Pricey but definitely worth it but then again tone is very subjective so what may be the perfect P.A.F to me may not be to another.
Oooh yea! I’ve been so curious about the Doyles. I love that there are so many amazing builders and options. Thanks for the recommendation and for watching!
@@boringgearreviews Yes there are so many great ones and you have me wanting to try these Sunbears after hearing them!😁 The price is nice on these sunbears as well!
Thanks so much for the subscribe and kind words. The Deacons are also fantastic! I’ve only had them in my 335, so it’s tough to compare. I think the eq response of the Sunbears is slightly more full but that might just be the guitar. Both are super clear, articulate and dry/natural. You honestly can’t go wrong with either but these 59 Sunbears are for sure my favorite.
@@boringgearreviews not that I like blues, but man, some serious vintage stuff is going on here. Nice sound. Very woody. And those squeaky noises. Perfect.
Great video. I like how you described the qualities you were looking for and the sounds you were getting from the guitar and Sunbear pickups. I’ve never had a chance to try these pickups but will look for an opportunity to do so. I’ve had hot pickups in guitars. These days I prefer lower output pickups. I really like the DGT pickups that come stock with the PRS DGTs and the 58/15 LT pickups used on the PRS Studio. These are PAF style pickups that offer good clarity, nice high frequency response, and coil tapping. I also like the Fishman Fluence Classic humbuckers used on the Emerald Virtuo. They also offer great clarity and coil tapping. I’m having a set of the Fishman pickups installed on an old Les Paul.
Thanks so much for your kind words. I’m so glad you enjoyed the video and pickups. They’re really outstanding and ones I never get tired of or unimpressed by. I haven’t played the Fishmans or DGTs but they sound cool!
Gibson Custom Buckers in my ‘96 R8, Wizz premiums in my ‘80 Tokai Les Paul Reborn and Manlius Fat Diane’s in my ‘87 Greco Mint Collection (black custom). Wizz are great and Manlius makes brilliant stuff. Have Manlius T-tops in a Gibson V and “real” T-tops from a ‘78 SG in another V. Manlius wins.
